    I scored 115 on the TOEFL Home Edition - this was due to a few crucial points. I talk about my top tips for each section and the mistake I made so that you can learn from that and boost your TOEFL score.

    I watched your videos a day before my Special Home Edition test was scheduled and they helped me a lot in understanding what to expect on the exam day as well as while answering each section. This video gave me confidence that a 115+ score was achievable and I managed to score a 117 with R-28, L-29, S-30, W-30! Thanks again for your videos :)

    Hi Juva! Thank you very much for this video. Very clear and organized. I'm doing the toefl test the next week (I'm nervous and preparing myself for it). Two questions:
    1) Can you skip the questions and return to them later?
    2) For the Writing and Speaking part will I be able to see the writing passage?
    Thank you in advance for your comments! 🙏

    • @juva
      @juva  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Carmen! I'm so glad you liked it :). It's totally normal to be nervous, the TOEFL is quite a challenge. Regarding your questions:
      1) In the Reading section you can skip the questions and return to them later. When I took the test this was not possible in the Listening section. In the Speaking and Writing section, as far as I remember, when you click next you can't go back, but you also won't need to.
      2) Yes, in the integrated writing task you will be able to see the reading, but you will not see the listening. In the independent task you will see the prompt.
      Hope this helps :) I wish you all the best for your TOEFL! You can do this!

      Hello Ayche, I'm so glad you like it 😀. It's totally fine to use personal examples. I did that in my TOEFL and I scored 30/30 in TOEFL Writing. To figure out where you lose points, ask yourself these questions: Do you use a broad range of vocabulary and complex grammar? Do you use good sentence starters? A template is really helpful here, so you may want to consider using one. Check out my TOEFL Writing playlist, where you can find strategies and sample answers. If you have any questions, put them in the comments, I'll be happy to answer them.

    Hi Juva, i have a question. Are you able to write down your template during the break (right before the speaking task), or do you have to show the instructor clean notes before you start the tasks? Would you have enough time to write down your templates during the speaking instructions?
    Cheers!

    • @juva
      @juva  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi, you can't write down your template during the break for two reasons. First, you are not allowed to do so. Second, you wouldn't have the time to do that anyway. As soon as one tasks ends the next one starts. Therefore, it's very important that you memorize the template.

    Hi Juva! Thank you for all your tips! The way you express your experiences during the exam makes us feel like we already took it also :). • @juva
      @juva  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Dominic, I'm so glad you liked it!
      2 weeks is enough if you work efficiently. I also had not much time to prepare. Here are my tips:
      1. Check out the test format for each section.
      2. Find your weak spots - this shows you what you need to focus on.
      3. Create Templates for Speaking and Writing, and memorize them - this is done very quickly if you understand what the tasks are about. (Have a look at my video about the integrated writing task, you can also download a template there: th-cam.com/video/KvBauox4auk/w-d-xo.html ).
      4. Get a feeling for the Reading section - you should know how much time you have for each passage so that you don't have problems due to the time constraints in the exam.
      I wish you all the best for your preparation :). You can do this!

    Hey, Juva! I'm not so fluent in speaking as you are, I'm scared of facing the test! I guess I'm currently at the B2 level in English and I have to score 100+ on TOEFL. My weakest skill is speaking, I've done some tests and I estimate that I would be able to get 25 or a little more on the other sections, but I dont know about the speaking part.... I'll try to use the templates in my speaking! I feel that is a drastic short amount of time to respond properly the questions, I'm not so sharp and my mind just go blank.

    • @juva
      @juva  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey Lene, scoring 100+ is definitely a challenge, but don't worry! It's excellent that you already know where your weak spot is because this means that you can tackle the problem effectively. I'd recommend the following: first, get used to the speaking template you will be using. Second, practice speaking, and I mean it, you must speak to your wall or whatever because this is the only way to get better. Repeat this as often as you can, put yourself in the situation that scares you. It will not be funny in the beginning, but it will get better - you will feel a lot more comfortable in the TOEFL test. Hope this helps :)

    I don’t know if anyone needs to hear this but I feel it's right to say, so that no one else has to go through what happened to me.
    I took the TOEFL test a few days ago and it was one of the worst experiences I had to undergo. My screen froze during the writing section and I couldn’t scroll down to read the remaining passage during the integrated part. I called for the proctor for help and she IGNORED me for the better part of 50 minutes until the end of the entire test. The spectacle didn’t end there, as the proctor TALKED OUT LOUD on full volume when I had to listen to what I had to speak on during the speaking section. She continued talking through the speakers for more than a minute, during all the listening (even if she lied to the institution saying that she talked just to ask to lower the camera, that requires 3 seconds). I was so nervous and terrified as the sheer horror of speaking on something I could NOT hear. I had to compose myself and I did my best to speak as this joke of an “test” came to an end. This is incompetence and a scam.
    I immediately filed a complaint and sent them an email to open an investigation. It’s evident that “investigation” didn’t happen as ETS chose to not do their job like their LIAR of a proctor and simply took her word for it. My scores will stand and I was told I will not be allowed to retake the test for free. They chose NOT to review my RECORDED test.
    Choosing TOEFL was definitely one of the worst decisions I’ve ever made in my life. They’re morally bankrupt and shamelessly corrupt. Don’t let them mess with your future. I’ve said my piece, make of that what you will. And add that to all the complaints of other type you can find on this page (for example not receiving the scores in time).

      For broadening your range of vocabulary I'd recommend the following: Since the Speaking and Writing sections are about academic topics and discussions of everyday life, look at some example questions and search for articles regarding these topics. You should find many online that talk about these issues. Read them and write down words you consider important. Of course, this requires some time, so if you reschedule take that into account. Hi Fouad, Congratulations! Your scores are amazing! Natasha already explained it and I couldn't have done it better: It will say "to be scheduled" until you receive your scores - at least that was what happened to me. You will be notified by ETS vie email once your scores are there and then you can see them in your ETS account.

      Unfortunately you can't use headphones. For me it didn't make the listening harder, so don't worry about that. My next video will be about such questions regarding the TOEFL Home Edition, so feel free to have a look at it.

    My problem with TOEFL is speaking, I mumble a lot when I talk. Are there any tips to avoid mumbling?

    • @juva
      @juva  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Practice speaking at home: speak everything out loud as precise as you can and record yourself - after that listen to the tape and identify the kinds of words that you are mumbling. Then speak again using these words and record yourself. Repeat this as often as is necessary to get rid of the mumbling. Hope this helps :)

    Is the TOEFL Home Edition counting towards the MyBest Scores?

    • @juva
      @juva  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I don't see why not because the TOEFL Home Edition does not differ from the test in the test center. However, I'd recommend contacting ETS and asking them just to be sure.

    TOEFL reading for Home Edition on Monday was 40 questions. That threw me off balance, cos i was expecting 30 questions. Why is that so?

    • @juva
      @juva  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm so sorry that this confused you! I hope everything went well nevertheless. This means that 10 of these questions were experimental questions. They sometimes add an additional passage in order to see how test-takers perform on that. It's just for their information. This passage will not count towards your score. However, you don't know which of these passages was the experimental one.
