I watched Witchboard 3 times at the movies, and have rewatched it many times. He Knows You're Alone is one of my faves, too!! That was slumber party fare back in the day!😂❤
Witchboard is so watchable. It never gets old. I'm glad you love He Knows You're Alone too. It's one of my favorite slashers from the 80s. Very creepy and effective. ❤
Nobody talks about The Legend of Hellhouse very often. It’s a great movie written by Richard Matheson! Roddy McDowells character, Fishrer, with the most incredible backstory. Fisher was the only survivor of the last exploration of Hellhouse who wasn’t killed, crippled or driven mad. Just such a great mystery with characters examining the house and its supernatural evil, from different perspectives. Great film! Thanks
I really like the Ghost Ship remake. Saw it when I was a kid. Love that you recommended an Italian movie, I love Dario Argento's movies! Haven't seen Deadly Friend since I was a kid, but I've been meaning to watch it again. I'll never forget the basketball scene haha. Deadly Blessing is pretty good. Wish I could show it to my sister, but she's super arachnophobic. I watched Witchboard about 4-5 years ago. I liked it a lot. I have to check out Someone's Watching Me! soon. I love John Carpenter!
Don't ask me why but here are some pretty random Recs that I don't think are random at all (in no special order): 10. _Hellraiser_ (1987) because: it's just plain satisfying. Also = I live for Camp whenever I can get it. And I hate people over-emphasizing the importance of Acting as Technique in reviews, etc. So: this film is refreshing because the actors here totally understand that acting is about style. So, the performances fit in with the mood of the movie. 9. _Frogs_ (1972) because: it has even better swamp-horror vibes than Wes Craven's _Swamp Thing_ and expert swamp-horror is just The Goods. Through and through. Some of the most underrated atmosphere. Don't demand cohesive storytelling from this, it's more about theme and mood. Also: I'm doing this list in reverse order and I already wrote that summer is too hot for Summer Horror so, the same applies here. It's more fun in the fall. 8. _Phantasm_ (1979) because: I think this movie might have horror's greatest music score of all-time. A lot of people say Carpenter's _Halloween_ but I think this score has more pieces of individual music and re-uses fewer of them than _Halloween_ does. 7. _Killer Klowns from Outer Space_ (1988) because: they're Klowns! That's why! 6. _Rabid Grannies_ (1988) because: lots of people like their Halloween seasons vulgar and shocking. This movie is the best of those worlds but also it's campy and it has a delightful message about how evil wealth hoarding and opportunism are. So... it's like Stuart Gordon's _Dolls_ but better. 5. _Halloween III: Season of the Witch_ (1982) because: the masks just remind me of those ultra-nostalgic McDonalds' trick or treating pails or whatever (you know the ones). 4. _Silver Bullet_ (1985) because: summer is too hot to do most horror movies, so I always wait 'til the fall to watch this one. 3. _Suspiria_ (1977) because: TH-cam + Halloween lovers *LOVE* colors and _Suspiria_ is all about the colors. 2. _Creepshow_ (1982) because: the mood has never mooded harder. 1. John Carpenter's _Halloween_ (1978) because: I'm so predictable.
@@rhine_1988 Sadly, it didn't occur to me until nearly an hour later = _Bay of Blood_ is out of print on Blu-Ray for the time being. Some of Bava's stuff is slated to get re-releases like _Whip and the Body._ But I'm not sure what else or when, so I bought up almost everything of his when almost all of his movies on Kino went out of print.
Let's just do 10 more. Why? Do you really think that's relevant at this point? : 20. _Carnival of Souls_ (1962) because: this one taps into the rural "small American factory town" feel and blends it with European arthouse until you have 75 entire minutes reminiscent of the _Cemetery Man_ (1994) finale. 19. _Night of the Living Dead_ (1968) because: have I mentioned yet (reverse order) that farms are great settings for horror? It's the whole "American Gothic" aesthetic. 18. _Frankenstein_ (1931) because: the combination of the elegantly stark imagery and the evocatively sumptuous black-and-white photography (cinematography) heightens the classic, otherwise understated, mood. 17. _Carrie_ (1976) because: it proves that psychological horror isn't just dry. It proves character studies are worthwhile and full of impact and intensity. 16. _A Nightmare on Elm Street_ (1984) because: *he was scary! **_That's_** why!* 15. _Rosemary's Baby_ (1968) because: did I mention yet how important the right / the best horror music is? 14. _A Bay of Blood_ (1971) because: can you just ever get enough Into The Woods horror? This time, you get the bayside / creekside vibes going with the bugs and the sea creatures lending some ominousness. And that music. Damn fine music score. 13. _Deranged_ (1973/74) because: if you're saving _Black Christmas_ for December, you need at least one good snow horror for October. Why not get some woodsy downhome farm-horror into your system as well? 2 birds, 1 stone. 12. _Tenebre_ (1982) because: Argento is simply the best. Better than all the rest. 11. _The Evil Dead_ (1981) because: cabins in the woods are terrifying. At least, this one is.
@rhine_1988 cool, so was I. I love horror movies too. Though the ones that came out in my birth year, make me feel that I'm getting older. Like Childs Play, it's like Chuckys turning 36 this year! Very cool, then oh crap so am I!!!!!! Great videos BTW. I just subscribed to your channel.
I love discovering new movies - especially from the 80’s and especially not so well known gems. Awesome video and subbed 👍🏻👍🏻
Thank you so much for watching and subscribing!! I really appreciate it. I hope enjoy these gems. Awesome movies here!
Nice to see a few ‘unsung’ horror heroes in there. ‘He Knows You’re Alone’ ‘Fright Night II’ & ‘Witchboard’

I agree. The Legend of Hell House isn't talked about often. I love it. So creepy and atmospheric.
Thank you!

Thank you for commenting!! A list wouldn't be the same without Dario Argento. I love him. I highly recommend Someone's Watching Me. So good!
I saw The legend of hell House in theaters. I'm 62 now. So I was about 10 at the time and it scared the bleep out of me!
I agree, Adam! It's terrifying!
I love Witchboard. Ever since I saw it at the theater upon release. I love Malfeitor, and how he is barely shown. Great film.
I'm so happy you love Witchboard too! I agree about Malfeitor. It's creeper that we don't see him much.
Thank you for commenting!
Love legend of hellhouse.😊😊 Great video.
