      they definitely teach it this well, at least the foundational bit. you learn how multiplied exponents work pretty soon after exponents.

      For me exponents were the only easy few supjects on gr 9 math but make sure to keep studying and you'll become great at it 💪

      @@ArtAlpha108 I'm guessing you're in algebra. Honestly for a lot of it you can just repeat a process. Think of all the manipulations you can do to some equation, and go thru them to see if it'll get you anywhere. Look for things that let you factor a quadratic, an (a^2 - b^2), or to pull something out from everywhere into parentheses. Speed comes with practice and time. If you're in pre-calc or geometry then it's a lot more understanding the concept, most trig functions.
      I can't really give more specifics unless ik the exact class.

    For those who dont understand, basically just look only at 5² so 5 x 5 equals 25 and then just put the "¹¹" same thing for the other. I hope this helped.

    Guys stop saying it's easy to estimate the answer. 3^33 < 5^23 and 2.9^33 < 5^22 < 3^33! Small differences in exponent make a huge change!

      Except no. Me a previous actual calculus student that spent 2 and a half years studying just that and classes that used only that.
      *looks at numbers* That 33rd power is such an order of magnitude larger than the 22nd power it will be bigger, their base numbers aren’t much different than each other so they can ignored for the most part.
      Most of us hate logs. Logs are stupid, they suck, and most of the time if your not actively being taught them you’ll almost never see them again except in speciality fields, even then they aren’t that common.
      Integrals also suck but they are common as shit

      @@shadowninja8011 it was a joke. As a current calculus student, we had gone over logs again and were refreshed on it, so it’s quite common in my brain right now. That’s the joke. I understand you take different routes to get the answer, in fact, when I was solving this problem I saw the commonality that 22 and 33 both had a gcf of 11, and I solved the problem accordingly. Was just a joke.

    I'm always coming across these questions in real life. At the supermarket they have 2 packs of sugar the same size but different brands and they price one with a log value and one with an exponential function and I have to work out which is cheaper.

    We take HCF of the power which will be 11.
    Then we will divide both powers by 11 and we will get 5^2 and 3^3. As a result we will get 25

    I think i remember from one of my math classes that at somepoint the base of a number stops being significant so for generalized questions like this you can assume that the difference between 3 and 5 is insignificant and you can just say they are x and focus just on the exponents. Thus the question just becomes which is bigger x^22 or x^33 and that question is significantly simpler.

    I feel like it could have been a little simpler. I was taught that the exponent is basically the number of zeros along with the number so the higher exponent is always larger in volume
