great trip v and catches of this famous steamer on its return run back to LA after a trip to the Grand Canyon nice catch catching a BNSF meeting it too
Yeah I saw your video of the 3751 going to the Grand Canyon and returning to Los Angeles I’m glad I joined to chase the train by watching that video it was amazing even though other people made videos of the train on the same trip
Thanks Skip! It was definitely worth the trip. Seeing 3751 out in the open and away from the intercity railroad lines was an amazing sight and something I will cherish for the rest of my life!
Great video... thanks for the chase and sharing. Love that lonely sounding whistle and the Caritas private car seems to be all over the country! I see it in a lot of vids.
Nice video! You were able to catch the elusive EspeeScotty on video! I come out from behind the fence posts at 7:10 to pick up my camera after shooting my low angle shot at Aguila. It didn't come out as well as I hoped it would. Also, I love the all JB Hunt pig train at Newberry Springs. I probably was as anxious as you hoping it would clear in time...and I wasn't even there!
That may be true for most steam locomotives, but 3751's tender carries water and fuel oil. Later steam locomotives burned oil and often, railroads looking to save time and money, converted their locomotives from coal to oil firing.
It was a last second decision to go to Newberry, and we got quite lucky. I didn't feel very well at that location so the pig train was the last thing on my mind haha. Glad you enjoyed the video!
Wow, you really did get a great view of that bridge in Parker!

Maybe 3751 can do it again sometime!!!!! Maybe a doubleheader excursion with 4960 leading 3751 from Williams, Arizona to San Diego, California!
Beautiful Shots and Excellent Coverage!!

Thanks Mike and David!
Yessss 3751 and Amtrak
Thank you. What a fun video. I didn't know that the Santa Fe still ran steam engines!
Risa201000 Santa Fe has been merged with the BN for 20 years if you want to know what the railroad name is it is BNSF

See? Even Mike Armstrong- as Coaster Fan 2105 likes YOU, SooHogger!
Thank you, added to a playlist...
Love bridge shot at 12:30
Thanks Jeffrey. Sad you couldn't make the trip!
I like the locomotive and the amtrak engine
is the tender part water part coal?
How else would you get HEP and protection power?
Looooooove your video.
Thanks!

Great video!!!!
Hi coaster fan!
Ok, what's bio coal? Thanks
Is this the steamer they are going to test the bio-coal with?
Very, very nice!!!! :D
That's ATSF 3463, a 4-6-4 Hudson. Not this one, but it is similar.
Remember me?
ATSF 3751 looks a lot like the polar express but different
I know this old steamer, she don't need the help from the diesel locomotives.
L.D. Wood the Amtrak locomotives are just there for hep & extra braking power
nice man
Look like coasterfan2105.
3751
Interesting that the Amtrak GEs' are smoking more than the steam locomotive.
521wurlitzer I think that's the hep generator running
521wurlitzer that is why Amtrak is replacing the P42s with the Siemens Charger
