I know this comment was 2 years ago but same. The sunflower seed thing was not the waitress's fault at all. Sunflower seed allergy isn't a very common allergy, I go out to eat A LOT, and I've never been asked if I have any allergies, because it's usually up to the person ordering to mention of they have any allergies or not, which the mom should have. She ordered the salad first, she read the menu, she knew it had sunflower seeds in it, yet she said nothing when her daughter said she'd have the same? This could be the beginning of a Lifetime Movie Plot: Mother secretly tries to poison her spoiled daughter!
I used to be a waitress & you wouldn’t believe the things people will do to get something taken off of their bill or the things parents will let their kids get away with. Really disturbing & disrespectful
I worked as a waitress at a night club. The amount of rude I was served was disgusting. But I swallowed it because every bill had a 10% service charge added to their bill regardless. So one racist asshole that bought a magnum bottle of champagne and didn't tip me really gave me 1500. He literally told me he wasn't tipping me because he wanted a black waitress, and that's why I'm not getting a tip for serving a VIP table of 20 the entire night.
Listen to this- I worked at a very fancy high end French restaurant that if 4 people came in- with no alcoholic drinks the bill would still be almost $500 bucks. I was putting myself thru Nursing school. I had these 2 ladies that came in once a week and made my life hell. We are talking like a 3% tip, run me back and forth. Get a spoon. Get a water, get a Wine- tell me all this at the same time...That place was near a very big hospital that I ended up getting a job at. I worked on the Cardiac unit. One came in and SHE WAS ONE OF THEM. she saw me and knew it was me right away. I was assigned to her so she was my patient and I had to do IV's etc..Then 3 years later I started working for a Plastic Surgeon in the Office and O.R. The OTHER LADY CAME IN. She knew it was me too and she was so obese and old and the side eye she gave me when I was 26 when I was in the room and the DR had her open her robe and mark her body & she was also getting a face lift so She had marker all over her standing naked in front of me and the Dr pointed out that her previous nose job was making her have sleep apnea so She couldn't look me in the eye. I was the one that drew her blood I was the one that called her in the office. I was the one that saw her at her worst- that was priceless. I believe in KARMA.
Also my friend was a Flight Attendant . Sometimes they get changed to work in the 1st class section. OPRAH the TV lady demanded a Black Stewardess. I was shocked but I was almost going to move to California. I went there for 2 weeks and the next time was a month. I could not live there. If you wait tables and get idiot celebrities or are a Nurse and get celebrities- I couldn't deal with that fakery. KARMA WILL GET THAT GUY THAT STIFFED YOU!!
Right? There's also the fact that the mom knew the salad had sunflower seeds in it, because she ordered it, and the daughter said she'd have the same, and the mom said nothing about sunflower seeds.
Bruh. Imagine disrespecting your mother like that… man you would be attending my funeral if I ever spoke like that to anyone… let alone my mother… honestly makes me so thankful for my parents and how they raised me. I would literally slap myself if I ever spoke to someone with that attitude.
I'm a waitress and if someone acted like this it would take about 10 seconds for my boss to come up beside me and tell the person to leave or get attitude back. I'm luck enough to have a good boss though considering she's also the owner but I still lucky she cares enough...
I'm years late, but do you people not know anyone like this? This BS doesn't happen in real life - in real life the parents teach the kids to behave like a psycho Karen by modeling the behaviour.
@anne-vc7bg I am pretty sure there are people like this irl (parents that are too nice and spoil them and just don't do anything about their behavior but say things like : that's not niceee, don't say that!! But they just keep spoiling them after)

Actually, waitresses make LESS than minimum wage. That's why tipping is so important-- they haven't raised servers' pay since the 70s, and it's under 3 dollars
Which is absolute BS. Restaurants should be responsible for paying their employees a living wage, not pushing it off on their customers. Everyone in my family has worked as a waiter at some point and it's always been stressful as hell hoping you'll have a busy night just to make a few bucks.
In Canada they make at least minimum wage - well, in NS at least. Not sure about the other provinces Still not enough money to put up with the crap from customers that think they are better than you
In the U.S. the federal minimum wage for tipped workers is $2.13. And the IRS assumes that you're tipped 15% on each bill and taxes you accordingly, regardless.

My cousin was like that ever since we were kids. It’s part of the reason my family stopped going to family parties and holidays. Because this one cousin got 100xs more stuff then my sisters combined.
