  • Taking a look at how we can get the JD-XI synthesizer to control the chord progressions and transpose sequences at the same time. We're using the NDLR - a cool MIDI motif tool from Conductive Labs. We're also using the Waldorf Blofeld to generate the sounds from the NDLR!

    Hi Ranzee - Hope you had a fine Chistmess and was transported well into the New Year ... i fell over this good old video - and as i also have an old JD-XI aswell as both the Noodler and the MRCC - it prompted me, to haul the JD-XI down from the shelf , and im currently "Noodling" around , to see if i can get it all going - it´s JUST my kind of fun - but i guess we are very similar on that point - i hope you´re well , and the good Ol "Land of Oz" is ....liveble...Have a good one , and see ya downstream , my old mate - Ranzee ! 😂👏

    I didn't know what to expect, but imagine NDLRing is great fun. I've consciously chosen to avoid computers, so already have other hardware sequencers. They have their strengths (and limitations too). Thanks for sharing your experiences of NDLR.

      Hi catcha crab :) I am the same. I try to make as much music with hardware before having to touch a computer. The NDLR brings an extra level of randomness to performances. I'm still working out how I'm going to incorporate it into a song yet - but, I'm determined to get there! lol ... Thanks so much for watching and taking the time to comment, it is really appreciated.

    Fantastic! A very handy more "live" way of using the NDLR.

    Great work, just received my NDLR today and paired it with a Deluge - your video helped a lot but I am not yet ready to ask you specific questions as I am not a pro in music theory.
    NDLR should help to do without it but now I will just learn it in another way I guess

    Can't wait to get my ndlr. Slept on this for too long because I thought I had too much sequencing power.

      Hi Johanthegnarler, same - it is going to be a great tool in the studio. I feel the project is also very active and the guys at Conductive Labs are super positive to suggestions and feature requests. Thanks for watching, and being part of my channel :)

    Is the only major or minor chords fixed with the new okt 2019 firmware?
    And an other question: Have other Roland synth interactive chord option. (brand new Jupiter Xm)?

      Hi Nick, I'm not sure as these products haven't arrived yet where I live. Perhaps there's something in the online manuals?

    Hi, ive got a thought, im using external midi sequencer(pyramid). Is it possible to change key from an external sequencer? Would make trackbuilding very sleek and inspirational!

    Could you pair a ndlr with only the Electribe 2. Electribe has 16 midi parts so I guess you could use this as a sound module only. Which would be great, as that sequencer is pretty basic.

    • @ranzee
      @ranzee  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      yep you can definitely do that

  • @nandoblondemobydick5438
    @nandoblondemobydick5438 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    you can do that with Ableton, mode transpose, but what this two can´t do and that´s nice in musicnis the choice of out of scale or mode notes to add to motiff and riffs as they can sound in a personal style. it´s as you have probably noticed robotic.

      Hi Nando & Blonde Moby Dick, yes - I mentioned it in the video that it was restrictive to chord bases/types. I think with a bit of creativity you could definitely make this work and add layers with other sequencers. I'm not a huge fan of tying up a computer to this, as essentially that is not the purpose of the NDLR - it is meant to get your knob tweaking :) Thanks so much for watching and taking the time to comment, it is really appreciated!

    Can u sequence sounds simultaneously on jdxi using ndlr?

    • @ranzee
      @ranzee  ปีที่แล้ว

      the multi-timbral parts yes - and the word "sequence" I would correct to arpeggiated patterns.

    • @DespairQuietlyPlease

      @@ranzee yes I'm discovering that. Can get quite repetitive.
