This was excellent. I own a Kurono Toki in my fairly modest collection and it was the dial on that won me over and I don't normally go for salmon/coral dials. For a three watch Japanese collection - I would select the Kurono Toki, a black dial Citizen Chronomaster and a Grand Seiko SBGH289 Diver.

Japanese watches tend to be under appreciated outside of Japan, yet there are so many great choices for a killer collection!

I could imagine to work towards a high quality three piece core collection. But I definitely want to exclude sentimental pieces. And I would allow me to have a G-Shock, as well as a colorful summer watch.

I'm a big fan of the Seiko Prospex's LX line, as well as the Grand Seiko dive watches, however it wouldn't hurt if they improved their bracelets, clasps, and bezel action. If you're going to drop $11K on a Grand Seiko, they really need to improve on those items.
