    Thank you, a clinician came to my school today and tried explaining this but slaughtered the explanation and left us all bewildered. This was explained very logically and concisely. I would watch any of your videos again cause it was explained so nice! Thanks a million.

    I did have a question. By what means do the Lymphs become inactive? Is their function inhibited because the radiation denatured vital proteins or was DNA damaged so no new proteins could be produced such as cytokines as well as preventing any proliferation? Or does it just kill the cell?

      We believe it is due to damage to the DNA of the T-lymphocytes most likely.

    Both leukoreduction and irradiation podlets are great and very interesting but in your attempt to make them short you talk a bit fast Dr.Chaffin,which is a bit difficult for non-native English speakers....Of course this is not a big problem as long as i go through these podlets twice or more!

    I shared your links with a pre-nursing comrade. Thank you for providing great, useful information. We used to leukocyte reduce at bedside with an in line filter and then send them through the warmer which looked like a big white pasta machine. Technology amazes me. It's what I love about health care.

    You're wonderful.Really appreciate your help.I have a doubt.Earlier in your ALL PLASMA video you 've mentioned that TA-GVHD is one of the complication of FFP transfusion. Then why it not indicated to irradiate frozen product?

    • @bloodbankguy
      @bloodbankguy  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      That video is outdated. At this point, we don't believe that FFP transfusion is likely to lead to TA-GVHD at all. Liquid Plasma, which is never frozen, has been reported to cause TA-GVHD, however.
