The Japanese are called the "Germans" of Asia because of their discipline. The Japanese are actually proud of it. Yup, I spend a lot of time in Japan. Wonderful culture!
Both wrong, they learned many things from the Europeans, and became the Japan of Asia. Even after ww2, kept learning from the Americans. They have a good reputation because they built themselves up and modernised after Meiji restoration. 👆😊
When I started learning Japanese in the late Nineties, I was surprised to discover that Germany was the top destination for Japanese tourists visiting continental Europe for the first time. Not France, not Italy. My first ever Japanese teacher, a Japanese law school graduate who had studied German extensively but somehow ended up teaching Japanese in Italy, gave me the following explanation: "After the Meiji Restauration, Japan had to learn from many countries how to improve and modernize itself. The British and the Germans were the two peoples with whom we got along the best, but with the Germans, we felt a true spiritual affinity. So probably many Japanese want to see the country that was so instrumental in helping Japan become a modern country. And sure, after WW2, it was the US that inspired us the most, but Germany was our Original Master, our sensei as long as Modernity was concerned. Plus, Japan is a nearly perfect country, but this perfection comes at a high cost for us Japanese in terms of personal freedom and fulfillment. The Germans have managed to set up an incredibly efficient yet livable and welcoming country, yet they enjoy their lives and have no karoshi. Japan has no Oktoberfest". I swear I had no idea what she was talking about. I was 15 and had never set foot outside my native Latium. Now in my 40s and after studying, working, and teaching in China, and working in Italy alongside Japanese and Chinese coworkers, I have a crystal clear understanding of her words.
Also Great Britain and the United States. However, there was expedition sent to Spain in the 16th century and never returned. Their descendants remain in Spain today.
Old comrades on the march through the country Holding friendship faithful and true. Whether in need or in danger Always together they hold all anew . During an attack, we give blow by blow, Glory and honor will bring us victory, Come, comrades, fresh and supplied, This is our marching music. During manoevers, the whole regiment Took quarters in the nearest village house there. And we were flirting at our lodgings, With all the girls and the landlord's daughter. Laughing joking, laughing joking, today yes today Unknown tomorrow is the whole regiment's fate That, comrades, is the warrior's bitter lot So take the glass in hand and say "Cheers".
