I will watch this video every morning before I even turn on the shop lights. 3 key lessons I took. 1- “rejection is good for the ego”. 2- “don’t you ever change” 3- “I didn’t let what was popular drive me.”

You know someone's a woodworker when their middle finger is the same length as their index finger.

What a blessing to watch this interview. Maloof has inspired so many great woodworkers in the past and contributes still through videos like this.

Seeing Sam put together a chair on top of a messy table saw is classic. Goes to prove you don’t need a perfect shop

I had the pleasure of going to Jerry Glaser's house in CA. Walked in the house, turned the corner, there sat 3 Sam Maloof chairs, every hair on my body stood on end as though I'd seen the most exotic car in the world. I asked if I could sit in them, Jerry jokingly said "Of course, that's what were made for" That was one of my most memorable moments in my life....Sitting in a chair lol, a real Sam Maloof chair.

I had a George Nakashima moment where I was doing carpentry work at, looked in dining room and was a table and chairs. Sat in a chair and could of stayed all day in it! Comfortable to say the least.

It’s kinda odd to see how beautiful his chairs are and yet he seems clumsy handling them in a crowded table saw.

Everyone can't afford a Sam Maloof piece but there's still plenty of fantastic furniture out there and for the love of christ I can't understand people buying the crap at Ikea and other popular stores selling what is basically glue. We have zero class in this country and we are fast becoming the laughing stock of the world.

@ Rick James - If anyone is laughing at the U.S., it is simply bcz of jealousy. The most successful and prosperous country the world has ever seen and with the most freedom at the same time. With 350m people, everyone can’t be a Sam Maloof. We were blessed to have had him and he was an American. IKEA is not.

psidvicious jealousy, no, I doubt it... freedom and prosperous yes... successful not so much, it’s only success based on debt, one day that debt will bubble and pop and those countries who kept things simple will be the lucky ones. I honestly pity our first world countries, I wish we had remained simple like Sam.

His last great chair should end up going to our beloved president Trump.
