- Yashodhara is the wife of Prince Siddhartha who later became Gautam Buddha. Yashodhara is all of 16, a young princess married to a handsome prince Siddhartha. Siddhartha leaves in the middle of the night to seek enlightenment abandoning Yashodhara who is fast asleep having given birth to their son that very night. Yashodhara wakes up, she knows that her husband would never have stayed or taken her along, However, she has only one lingering thought-
Oh dear, if he would have told me,
Would he still have found me a roadblock?
He gave me lot of respect,
But did he recognize my existence in a true sense?
If he had this thought in his heart
Oh dear, if he would have told me.
