My daughter, Adrienne, and I always stayed here. it was our go to place for every trip to Gatlinburg. We loved the location, the cleaniness. Sadly Adrienne recently passed away so this video brought back so many wonderful memories of her and our times there.
When I was a kid in the 1960s and early 70s my parents took us twice down to Florida to Disney and also took us to Williamsburg Virginia to the old country. I remember really well eating breakfast at Howard Johnson's and loving it.
We watched this video Friday and ended up staying here last night. It was clean, very affordable, and not far at all from the main strip, but it was still far enough back that it was quiet and peaceful. Thanks for this video!

This is a wonderful hotel! Room was HUGE! LOVE THE CLUB CHAIRS. NEED A LIGHT BY THE CHAIRS SO I COULD READ. KING SIZE BED AND MODERN LAMPS I LIKED! WALK IN SHOWER AND FLOORS PLUS I THINK THAT ROOM LOOKED LIKE A SAUNA? I loved that they had a place to sit with natural wood walls NEXT TO STAIRCASE TO GET TO ICE MACHINE AND SECOND FLOOR A PLUS. HOWARD JOHNSON ICONIC HOTEL CHAIN.
This is so funny. This is the exact room that my husband and I stayed in a few years ago. We loved it. Loved the chairs outside the room, the fire pit area, and the chairs down next to the road and stream. Also loved the huge shower. We did not care for the bed at all though. Thought it was a little too hard for our taste. It's funny you mentioned the back area because that is exactly where we kept our suitcases. We thought maybe it used to be 2 rooms or a sauna of some kind as well. All in all we really enjoyed this hotel and this room.

We're staying in Gatlinburg this week and somehow we lucked into the same room you guys had. You'll be glad to know they fixed the hole in the ceiling in the bathroom and the outlets have covers now.
Thx so much for doing this video. I love how huge your room is. I’ve always been very hesitant to book a hotel when I bring my mountain bikes with my family. They are too expensive to leave on the rack so that space inside the bathroom would be a perfect place to store some bikes!

Great video! We've stayed here countless times, even going back to when it was the Johnson's Inn. Pretty basic but can NOT beat the location or price. It became a HJ four or five years and was completely remodeled to what it is now. The large building was called Mountain Village Inn and had nice condos. We've stayed in one of those side balcony river rooms you mentioned. It had a King size bed, a sofa and a gas fireplace. It's usually booked up when we try to reserve. I do miss that they don't do the bfast any more. I certainly love all the bfast restaurants, but some mornings we like to just be able to grab something at the motel and start our day.
Thanks for showing us! Honestly, I would have never thought to stay there (because we would have looked for a cabin) BUT that would be so convenient to the strip and like you said, get some exercise. That looks like a clean and cute place to stay (and a lot cheaper than a cabin).

Oh no😱😱😱 the secret is out!!! 😂😂 This is my favorite budget hotel in Gatlinburg that no one has ever really talked about. It's the convenience and price for me. As a single couple who like to have a few drinks on the strip, we like that we can drink together and walk back to the hotel. We literally only sleep and shower at the hotel then we're going out to explore. We're all about trying new restaurants so we never ate the hotel breakfast when they had it anyway. We have stayed here 5 nights in the off season for 180! Thats insane 🤯 its a A+++ for us thank you for your videos and safe travels to you both
Sorry, we let the secret out.🤣It is a very nice buffet hotel. We love the location. John and I always like to walk to restaurants and stores if we can. You can't bet that price for five nights in Gatlinburg. 😎😎
It's ours too! Been staying there twice a year for decades. Lol. Location is fabulous! We stayed there the 2nd week in January last year for $200 total for Sunday-Friday morning. In January you have the whole place to yourself, great rates, no wait anywhere, little traffic, Christmas lights still up, and the mountains are beautiful! Our favorite time to go.

Cute pic with the bear! Love all those bears - so adorable! I remember back in the olden days when Howard Johnson's had those great Sunday brunches! I used to go all the time! It definitely looks like a room that was combined or a former suite. That ship lap area must have been a fireplace or something - the other side looks like a former sauna. It is a real mystery! I feel like there should be a documentary for this! LOL The remodeling is very nice - the floors (no more ratty carpet), the nice sink counter top, redone tile in the shower - it is really clean looking. The comforter looks like one I see in quite a few hotels these days. Good that they have a fan; I have noticed that in quite a few hotels they are taking out fans altogether! I still am uncomfortable with that first floor right there; be safe!
We liked how they decorated with the bears also. I am not a fan of carpet in hotel rooms either. It is a great location. Do you not like the first floor because of bears?😎😎

I have stayed at this place not too long ago. The room was nice and cozy and it was right on the river. I also like that this place is right next to Pi Beta Phi Elementary which is where I used to go to school. It was nice to get to see it again.

Our next trip will be to the Pontiac show in Pigeon Forge, so that stay is booked! However to beat the parking fees, we will stay here while exploring Gatlinburg! Thank you both for taking us alone. ❤
Hi John and Bobbie. At first when you guys showed the outside in front of the door I thought of the Bates Motel (yes from the movie) but after I was relieved when I saw the rest of it. I would stay in that hotel because it looked so clean and the room was so big. That hidden area with the wooden walls looked like it would have been a sauna before and sixty dollars is an amazing price. Thanks guys for this video I enjoyed watching❤️

We checked out this place several years ago. They sure have done a lot of updates. The rooms used to be so dark and dreary. Looks like they've gone a great job with the updates. We usually stay at Jack Huff's across the street.
Inexpensive places to stay that aren’t dives are hard to come by. This looks like it fits the bill. And the external amenities far exceed the room. Thanks for finding this hotel. I hope they don’t raise the prices now !😂 I see Bobbi went back in the Matrix!!!

They are booked out for when I’m going but I also have 3 teenage boys so hotel breakfast is mandatory…lol. Actually Avery’s favorite meal is hotel breakfast. We’re staying at Comfort Inn & Suites on Dollywood Lane. It was still was $300 cheaper to do two nights at a hotel and 3 nights at a cabin in the mountains than opposed to 5 nights and that’s with getting 2 hotel rooms. Love watching all your videos. My boys started watching you, too…they have a list of mandatory restaurants…lol.
We are not there enough since we don’t live here. We try to film 4 videos a day so doing these take a little longer and stops us from doing other videos. Great suggestion but we just don’t have time for it. If we lived here we would. We come down for around 6 days about 5 times a year. Appreciate you watching.😎😎
Another great video guys, do you know of any other motels or condos that have refrigerator freezer in them. We always stay at Oak Square for that reason and the walking distance to everything. My wife is a bad diabetic and has her 8pm snack it's ice cream we buy from Kroger on our way in. Stay Safe guys.🤘🇺🇸
Not sure my friend we don’t do alot of these hotel reviews. Never stayed in a condo down here before. Most just have the small fridge that we have stayed at. Hope you have a great time when you go. One place in Pigeon Forge had a full fridge but not in Gatlinburg.😎😎

They are. We stayed in the 2 story one. The pools are outside but this hotel is a great location to be while visiting Gatlinburg. For the money a great deal. Gatlinburg hotels can be very expensive on the weekends. Hope you have fun on your trip. And we appreciate you watching.

I think they removed the bathtub which they really need. Nice place. Like the floors and location. If someplace would just bring back the original Howard Johnson’s restaurant with the original food menu, they would be packed and make a fortune.

Also I forgot to say how lovely the view is and how close it is to the main shopping and food district. Plus the 2 pools ! Not every hotel has 2 pools!!!! Wish they never took diving boards away. Most pools were 9 -12ft back in the day.
It is a great location . The two pools are nice. The little pool did have a slide. Maybe they took the diving boards out of a lot of hotels because they were afraid people would get hurt.😎😎
True Bobbie! I just looked at my home movies at a hotel we stayed at in Springfield, MA visiting Mom's best friend who had kids . Pool had a diving board. Closing our public indoor pool here in Evansville after 48 yrs!!!!
This would be a great location for the holidays, when Gatlinburg is hopping with activity. Halloween parade, Christmas Parade, etc. This location would be perfect! Make a reservation NOW!

That room off of the bathroom with all the wood walls looks like it could have been a sauna at one point. They could have taken away the mechanism for the steam and the door.

We liked how they decorated with the bears also. I am not a fan of carpet in hotel rooms either. It is a great location. Do you not like the first floor because of bears?😎😎

I have stayed at this place not too long ago. The room was nice and cozy and it was right on the river. I also like that this place is right next to Pi Beta Phi Elementary which is where I used to go to school. It was nice to get to see it again.

Hey John and Bobby hope your day's been good we have stayed at the Howard Johnson several times every time we come to Gatlinburg we always try to stay off the beaten path sometime but always close enough and walking distance and you get things a little bit cheaper y'alls room was very nice we just got back today from Gatlinburg been up there for a week till next time take care

Hi John and Bobbie. At first when you guys showed the outside in front of the door I thought of the Bates Motel (yes from the movie) but after I was relieved when I saw the rest of it. I would stay in that hotel because it looked so clean and the room was so big. That hidden area with the wooden walls looked like it would have been a sauna before and sixty dollars is an amazing price. Thanks guys for this video I enjoyed watching❤️

We checked out this place several years ago. They sure have done a lot of updates. The rooms used to be so dark and dreary. Looks like they've gone a great job with the updates. We usually stay at Jack Huff's across the street.

They are booked out for when I’m going but I also have 3 teenage boys so hotel breakfast is mandatory…lol. Actually Avery’s favorite meal is hotel breakfast. We’re staying at Comfort Inn & Suites on Dollywood Lane. It was still was $300 cheaper to do two nights at a hotel and 3 nights at a cabin in the mountains than opposed to 5 nights and that’s with getting 2 hotel rooms. Love watching all your videos. My boys started watching you, too…they have a list of mandatory restaurants…lol.
With 3 teenage boys we probably do need a place that offers breakfast .🤣 You have a great time. We appreciate you and your family watching. 😎😎

We are not there enough since we don’t live here. We try to film 4 videos a day so doing these take a little longer and stops us from doing other videos. Another great video guys, do you know of any other motels or condos that have refrigerator freezer in them. We always stay at Oak Square for that reason and the walking distance to everything. My wife is a bad diabetic and has her 8pm snack it's ice cream we buy from Kroger on our way in. Stay Safe guys.🤘🇺🇸
Not sure my friend we don’t do alot of these hotel reviews. Never stayed in a condo down here before. Most just have the small fridge that we have stayed at. Hope you have a great time when you go. One place in Pigeon Forge had a full fridge but not in Gatlinburg.😎😎

They are. We stayed in the 2 story one. The pools are outside but this hotel is a great location to be while visiting Gatlinburg. For the money a great deal. Gatlinburg hotels can be very expensive on the weekends. Hope you have fun on your trip. And we appreciate you watching.

Also I forgot to say how lovely the view is and how close it is to the main shopping and food district. Plus the 2 pools ! Not every hotel has 2 pools!!!! Wish they never took diving boards away. Most pools were 9 -12ft back in the day.
It is a great location . The two pools are nice. The little pool did have a slide. Maybe they took the diving boards out of a lot of hotels because they were afraid people would get hurt.😎😎

This would be a great location for the holidays, when Gatlinburg is hopping with activity. Halloween parade, Christmas Parade, etc. This location would be perfect! Make a reservation NOW!

That room off of the bathroom with all the wood walls looks like it could have been a sauna at one point. They could have taken away the mechanism for the steam and the door.
