Both versions of Shonen Knife are incredible...it's what makes them so special. Amazing they were able to find a more-than-suitable replacement for the legendary Michie Nakatani!
Oh, it was such a blow having Michie leave...the stress of long travel touring proved too much after more than 10 years. Michie was the Soul of "Shonen Knife" Her songs were so sweet, longing and at times sexy. She was the "Paul" while Naoko was more "John" as far as Beatlesque songwriting differences.🐼
I too need a daily fix of SK. I have been listening every day for almost a year. I really get a natural high. I think it ate my brain. I saw them in Houston and Austin tx. last year, and plan on driving to Nashville to see them next month. They are touring the mid to upper north east Us.

Celebrating 35 years of Shonen Knife! New tour and album coming soon. And, Atsuko is back with the band, while Ritsuko rests up on maternity leave. Sad to see Emi leave, but Risa will be a good replacement on drums.
OMG, they are so young and cute! And in 2021, they are still so beautiful. I hope to see them live again soon. I do miss Michi, but love Risa! At least on the West coast (not sure of other areas of the US), we get Atsuko on bass, which makes me feel warm and happy inside. :)
The earnestness with which Michie states there's so much for her to study about i.e. toilets, is just so adorable, and a quite telling insight into her persona. Plus: the expression on her face at 8:10 cracks me up! And a few moments later she's adding food to Atsuko's plate just like a loving mother. I admit it: I find Rock Goddess Michie Nakatani adorable! Kawaii!!
Atsuko (who played bass for "Shonen Knife" 2017-2018) is married living in Los Angeles. No other Member is married that I know of. (So many drummer/bass player changes, hard to keep track of who has settled down)🐼
