Installing heated grips on a DR650

Is it possible to install new grips over the stock Susuki DR 650 throttle tubes? Yes, and I've found something that actually worked well at removing the OEM bonded grips.

Thanks, this has saved me a heap of faffing around, found a motion pro replacement for about 10 bucks and ordered them, that just looks too hard.

You can use hairspray to push on a stubborn grip, it also helps to lock it on.

Good job on the install. That throttle tube almost beat you, lol. How do you fit on the DR? You look like you’re over 6’ tall. Have done any mods for your height. Thanks!

I thought I was crazy while installing my oxford grips. Currently doing that now and found the throttle tube is indeed bonded to the tube. Guess I'll cut them off🤦‍♂️

What happens when the grip material on the oxford's wear out? Do we buy a replacement set of heaters?

2 sided tape around your bar and then with alcohol or gas as a lube/catalyst, it will slide right on and lock in. A golf grip technique. I will be quiet now.

I started putting mine on saw the original is one piece with the tube and quit and ordered a new tube for 10$ instead of ruining the original. I'll wait the few days for it to ship.

Jeremy have you ever tried air pressure to free them up?

To free up the grips? Yeah I do that in this video on the left one, but the right side I think they actually cast the rubber onto the throttle tube. The air works great for most of them though 👍

Lift an edge stick a screw driver pull up pour in some alcohol and they slide right off, if that doesn't work, definitely th 60$ lmao

Not this one. I’ve changed a lot of grips in my day and this was completely different than any others I’ve seen. If only it were that easy
