I have been an esthetician for 8 years and I believe in continuing education. I just started watching your videos recently and I have learned so much already! Thank you for sharing your knowledge and wisdom.
I like watching your videos in bed before sleep on a weekday. Its so relaxing and makes me realize once again how much i love my work as an esthetician. Skin care is self care ❤️
Love the massage videos! I have been an Lmt 17yrs, esty 3...my facials instructor told me in class one day massage therapists are the hardest to teach! Wow really?? My massage experience only enhances my facials. I tell clients, other than sunscreen massage is one the very best & some things one can do at home to have vibrant, alive skin.
I absolutely love your videos! I love that you don’t emphasize expensive machines or modalities. I’m taught by an instructor who’s teaching style is very similar with the emphasis on product knowledge and knowing how the skin functions. She and I both love you! Thank you for sharing these educational videos! #estheticianrising
hi nerida, i work in beauty industry. i watch lots of your videos. and of course i learn alot though that is not enough. Knowledge in every your video is very helpful. Thank you for sharing.
Hey Nerida. Another great video. Please post more if you can. I wish you were in Chicago so I could come see you! I need a good esthetician so badly!!!
Love love love your videos 👍🏼♥️I wish you posted everyday it actually relaxes me to watch you give these facials 😴I have such bad skin right now I'm 43 and I'm so sick of it I'm super oily as well I need to be back on birth control and spironolactone 👍🏼I was on accutane maybe 4 times and it worked at first but my acne came back 😭nobody else in my family has oily skin or acne I don't get it
Your the best of best! Your voice and your work is so soothing. i just get so lost into just watching all your steps and how you communicate with the clients. Thank u so very much. I learn so much Frm you and I take that in my treatment room:)
Hi Nerida, I just recently found your videos and really enjoy them. I am learning a lot from you and hope to be as knowledgeable as you. I am an esthetician and have been wondering where to go for continuing education and keeping me up to date on treatments and products. What do you do to stay up to date?
Work hands on basically 7 days, work with a doctor also (facial plastic) Read NewBeauty magazine and talk skin to other fabulous Esties and beauty industry people. I also call on my chemist when i have questions about ingredients and their functions when i am not sure. Good question Micaela and thank you for asking:)))))
I just stumbled across you and I loved this video. I like your skin care philosophy, your voice is wonderfully soothing, and reading the comments is the best bc you actually thoughtfully respond to ppl! Thank you for sharing your expertise with us! And of course, if you have time, what do you recommend for hyperpigmentation from the sun? I am Hispanic so have stayed away from more intense peels and lasers. I try and use everything and although my skin is okay, I can't seem to get rid of the sun spots on my checks.
Hello Ruby, First, make you sure you use an SPF 50+ EVERY DAY all year round. Second, start using at night a mild retinol product. You can use a serum that contains vitamin C or licorice extract during the day underneath your moisturizer. Hyperpigmentation is the hardest to get rid of, and having an olive skin you have to be really careful you do not chemically burn your skin. This is a good place to start :))
I use oil to massage. What cream would stay emollient and not just absorb for the entirety of the massage. ( I was an aesthetician a decade ago....but now i just practice on my husband at home.)
Hey! Nerida I just graduated from Esthetics school. Needed more knowledge about skincare, I do enjoy your video ,you are my first pick! out of many, I learning a lot,How do I start building clientele?
read my comment above...... you will continue to learn a lot from my videos and I will try to answer more questions about beginning esthetics for you next video also:)
Hi Nerida. This video is wonderful, and so informative too. I love your channel, and I always learn so much. I have fairly similar skin to Crystal, although with less scarring. However, I do tend to get small clusters of congestion around the perimeter of my face, along my chin, jaw or hairline. What can I do to combat those small pimples? Thanks for another great video!!!!
Hi Tanya and thank you for the beautiful comment! Jawline in face mapping is the large intestine.... This can mean you have to keep your diet simple, light and clean..... lots of water and physical movement walking and swinging the arms, pushing back to keep the lymphatic system healthy and active. if you have fine facial hair alone the sides of the face also you have to clean extra well to get under the hair by massaging in circular motion..... I am happy to chat with you if you reach out to me on my cell 310 625-6627..... its sometimes complicated I understand and easier for me via phone....:))
Hi Nerida. Was wondering if you had any advice for someone with hormonal/jawline acne. I've implemented the double cleansing method you describe, first with a wash cloth. I'm just stuck on what other products to use after. I have a ton of red scarring and active acne on my jawline and neck. I emailed photos to you. I hope to be able to come see you one day! Thank you for your help. You're so kind for helping the public with skincare..it affects so many peoples self esteem. P.S. I also heard you say in this video that you recommend a retinol for scarring at night. Do you have any suggestions of products for that?
I am so glad I found you! My skin has changed so drastically these last few years. Due to an hormonal imbalance my skin gets oily and dry at the same time. Is there anything I can do for the acne and pigmentation other than Retinol? I so wish I could come see you but I live on the East Coast!
Hi Hannah, Firstly, start with a mild non-foaming cleanser and a warm wet wash cloth at night (as I describe in my videos) Surface dryness is a big problem and creates congestion underneath. Your skin can basically change overnight with the right few basic products. Please reach out to me via my cell 310 625-6627. its lengthy to explain for me in writing and I have questions for you to get you on the right path :))
I wish I could come see you! My skin is so problematic - very sensitive to allergens (especially dust). My eyes swell and turn red easily and I have to put prescription steroid cream on it (I've tried what feels like everything else), but when I'm not swollen the skin around my eyes is still red and scaly looking. I worry about putting things elsewhere on my skin because I just don't know where to even begin. Especially since I am very pale and have a thyroid condition that causes dryness. And I'm allergic to a lot of metals including aluminum and am always scared skin products have metals of some kind!
I explain why I do that in my videos. It is because I live in LA (a dry climate) and most of my clients are surface dry. You can let it dry if your clients skin is oily or combination with NO surface dryness and living in a humid climate :))
Hiya, I have fairly large pores around my nose and my nose itself has many blackheads. Is there anything I can use to shrink them and thoroughly clean my nose to prevent black heads? I'm 15 and oily in some places and dry in others Xxx
Hi Nerida, I have a quick (maybe unanswerable) question - I put sunscreen on every day but my cheeks and temples are always fairly red, and it takes a lot of makeup to cover it up. It doesn't feel itchy or anything and it's not splotchy, and I have generally oily skin, so it's not dry either. Is it a sunburn or could it be another issue? Is there any way I can get rid of it? Love your videos!
Hello there, you may have couperose or a little rosacea. Can you send me a pic also so I can see. Do you get little pimples on your nose and checks ever?
Hi Nerida for her dark spots would she benefit from a microdermabrasion? I have acne spots and i havent found anything thag will light them up unless i do microneedling or microdermabrasion
Hi Brenda, Yes, Microderm could help a little with Crystal because of her skin coloring and thickness. Microderm works the outer layer whereas AHA's work from the inside out and if you work with a complex of AHA's (Glycolic, Lactic, Malic, tartaric and citrus) all very different molecular sizes and weights, you will be able to work on the many levels within the skin which is best for a more perfect healing. Having the choice, I prefer to work with AHA's so the healing is not only faster but PERFECT :))
Please can you solve my query- the products related one Is Amway brand products good for skin and hair? As I used to have them twice a day like cleanser, moisturizer, massaging cream, shampoo, conditioner and body cream.. are they paraben free or some other chemicals that are not good enough for skin... One more request, as I know you are so sweet and help others😋 please can you show how can we massage our own face and neck because in this video you are doing on other lady and it's quite difficult to follow on our own..🙏
If Amway works for you and you are happy with your skin and hair...Thats all that matters. Its great if you can find a more "organic" product that works great for you. Upwards rolling movements on the neck and separated knuckle rolls up the jaw line...:))
Hi Nerida I’m part of your 5 star esti course. I hear you speak often in your videos about using AHAs, retinols qflav, and them effecting the different levels of the skin. This information I did not learn in esti school. So I don’t know what products are effecting the different levels of the skin and why. Can you please make a in depth video for this topic? Also did a Facebook group get launched or other platform get launched for us in the course? I’ve logged into the course and don’t see anything about it.
The products that effect the lower levels of the skin are the actives like aha's and retinols. You get to be in the webinar for free this November 22nd. The new FIVESTAR Method platform will be launched by the 22nd also. Have you signed up/registered for the webinar? it advertised on my instagram also:))
My skin is so oily and congested so I've always used cleansers that foam or lather so you're saying not to so idk what to use because the cleansers that don't foam usually are for drier skin please please could you let me know is there one for oily acne prone skin like maybe one that's medicated non foaming -thanks so much 😘
Hi nerida, I was just wondering what product line you use? I’ve been looking at all different type of product lines to put in my shop. But I can’t decide what I want to use .
Hello, I am new doing facials and I recently discovered you and I enjoy your videos. Question, so, do you live the facial steamer on while you do the massage and while she has the face mask on? Thank you 🙏
What brands products do you use for anti aging and for sun undone?? Pls give me the products name you are using and whr to buy them?? Thank you in advance 😊
Hi Nerida, I love your videos, thank you so much for sharing your wealth of knowledge. My skin is very oily and acne prone. I started the double cleansing process you speak about with a BP wash and retinol at night but I am still breaking out. Do you have any product recommendations?
look at my models and see if your skin looks similar to theirs. Then contact my office at educateyourskin@gmail.com for the rejuvi product list (home care regimen):)) Rejuvi is what I have used for almost 30 years and it just works!!!
Thank you for the video! Just wanted to ask about your opinion about retinol: should people in their young thirties with first wrinkles appearing use it? In small percentage of course.
Hi Nerida, thank you so much for your videos. I recently found them and I’m so happy I did. I am also a licensed esthetician, I have always used AHAs but stayed away from retinol. Would you be able to recommend some products with retinol that you have had good results with I would love to be more familiar and educated with the different percentages & formulas. I understand you don’t like to mention them publicly as advertisement but could we perhaps message through email? I would really appreciate your help & again thank you for all the educational & inspiring videos! I love skincare also :)
Hi Nerida, I have recently found your channel and have been binge watching ever since. I have had acne from age 14 (nearly 30 now) and have spent hundreds on light treatment, facials, products, i've been on roaccutane & every other prescription from my doctor here in the UK. Paula's Choice was working fine for me for a little while, but never really got me the results I wanted (spot free, blackhead free, moisturised). I have dry and flaky skin alot of the time and I've been told that it's impossible to have dry skin if I suffer with spots. I wish I could come and see you for a proper diagnosis! If you have any advice at all, I would really really appreciate it. Looking forward to your next video already :) X
You are surface dry and oily underneath. Go back to basics... non-foaming cleanser, mild exfoliant 2xweek that absorbs dead cells (not a scrub) and a non comedogenic moisturizer. Only use a mineral make-up colorscience, jane iredale, bare minerals e.t.c. are good brands that do not cause congestion. Try this for two weeks and keep me posted:)
Hello Mild, Dry granules, like a salt, is more abrasive and leaves the skin fresh and scrubbed. A nourishing scrub is granules in an oil based product. Still exfoliating but the skin feels very hydrated and nourished after its application.
hello glad i found your videos. i have medium olive skin tone with a bit of acne, scarring, and larger pores. i wanted to find a good retinol or bha to help with my skin texture and scarring . do you think a bha would work better for my skin or a retinol?
Where are you living? Climate plays a big roll in product choices. I think you could use either.... just would like to know if you are living in a humid hot climate or not:)
Hey Nerida I wanted to ask you about my skin because I've had pretty bad acne since about 6th grade and I'm 20 now, I've also gotten extremely bad keloid scars on my back, but I've gone through so many different prescription and non prescription fixes for acne and they've never helped my doctor wants me to start acutane in the next couple weeks and I wanted to know your opinion on acutane and tips for what to do well on. I know it dries out your skin horribly and is very rough so what can I do to help my skin during and after acutane, thanks x
hello Love your videos and how informative you are! what advice would you give a new estetician in the field and what must have equipment would you recomend for someone who wants to start seeing their own clients?
A magi lamp and a steamer ..... best advice ... be thorough. Learn how to diagnose different skin types and sub-conditions so that you can treat your clients skin the best way you can for can.
Usually, cleanser is use to cleanse the skin prepping skin for treatment and must be wash off (remove). Gel cleanser is applied on dry skin in circular motion for 30-60 seconds and as gel it will dry out quickly not an ideal for facial massage. Nerida uses a hydrating mask sometimes diluted with the healing gel to massage skin prefers over an oil facial massage.
I love your videos. I've learned so much from them. I wanted to know what products you use I'm a cosmetologist and I do a lot of brides and bridesmaids makeup and hair, sometimes they have really dry skin that makes it difficult for me to make there makeup look flawless so I often recommend for them to go get a facial and they always ask for me to do it for them. I just started doing the facials jut I really need to find a great line of products to use with my clients. If you can recommend me please. Thanks again.
Combination skin is what we consider normal so you need a non foaming cleanser, possibly a hydrating healing serum (hyaluronic acid) a day and/or night time moisturizer with a little AHA in one of them for more of a treatment product and an eye cream..... thats a good start:))
Hi Nerida! I just came across your videos and I'm binge watching them now! You are so informative, I love your verbiage!! I have lots of post acne hyper pigmentation and very sensitive skin, in the video you mentioned retinols for olive skin, but I have fair skin, what would you recommend to lighten my scars? I just started using a lightening serum by Image but haven't noticed a difference. What would you suggest for red spots with some bumps as well? Is it possible to get rosacea in one area? Hoping you answer my questions being that this video was posted a while ago. Thank you for sharing all your knowledge!! 💚from Hawaii🤗
Hello Kylie, You could try a little vitamin C and a light cream containing AHA like lactic or glycolic acids. There sounds more to this with the bumps and the fact that the scars/spots are red means they are newer and possibly still active with possible rosacea. I realize you are in Hawaii, but it is best we chat via phone when you can .....easier and quicker for me to help you this way 310 625-6627 :))
Hi Nerida, thank you so much for your videos, I greatly appreciate learning from you! I am a hands on Esthetician as well and I was wondering what is your opinion of the Clairsonic? Is it best for certain skin types or too abrasive?
The Clarisonic is a great little device (but NOT for a sensitive/thinner skin) It is perfect however for a combination to oily skin a couple of times a week. Oily skins could use it maybe 3 or 4 times a week. If you use it too often it can thicken and dry the outer layer of the skin causing congestion to build underneath because of the thicken of the outer layer. This also can happen with over scrubbing... or, not wearing shoes, your skin on the bottom of your feet will thicken to protect. Moderation is key:)) And, keep the brushes clean also.
First of all thank U so much for all Ur great videos which r so helpful ❤ could U please tell me what is goid for large pores? these pores appear everytime after I have thise ugly comedones. and how can I extract those whiteheads? Thank U so much in advance
Hello Tamara, To keep your pores small, you must clean your skin well. Twice at night using a clean wash cloth with the first cleanse. Exfoliation is also important to keep the bacteria, dead cells and sebum away. Next, using a product that contains a little glycolic or mild retinol to stimulate the fibroblast cells will keep the skin tone firm. As for the whiteheads, they often need to be extracted, milia's require lancing usually. Try to see an Aesthetician just for a consultation is often best. If you live hear in LA, I would be happy to give you a free consultation. :))
Hello there, I know it is confusing, as there are sooooo many products to choose from. If you can send me a pic, very close up pic, I will recommend a few brands that should work for you ..... :))
esthetic fetish no you don't want to massage acne skin. As you can spread bacteria and also cause irritation... if it's very mild you may massage the skin but avoid those areas. I am a licensed esthetician . I hope that helps (:
Hi there, Massage is good if there is scaring (post acne), but if there is pustules and/or papules present, a little pressure point massage is best so you do not break and spread infection. Massage, like heat, stimulates sebaceous activity, so it is best to not massage an oily acneic skin in general.
Hi, Nerida I just viewed your video (Esty) here, what was the first product you massage onto the skin. Different mask or massage cream. Love watching you work.
Hi Nerida, your videos are awesome , i wish to know the name and brand of product that you're using. please email me or .... i don't know i'm curious to know . thank you very much
Funny she said that Estheticians spend more time on one side I noticed that in other videos she massages around the left eye more that the right. Lol might be some editing issue but she shows the whole massage. Lol
Nerida Joy omg how embarrassing is this moment! I can't even get a thank you for a compliment on any other TH-camrs videos, but the most well respected esthetician comments on me leaving a sarcastic not so polite comment that was really just a good observation. Ahh just my luck. I promise you it was just an observation that I was thinking about from another video and you happened to speak on it at the same moment. I want you to know that you have changed my technique and helped me in the treatment room tremendously! I am a total clinical girl and LOVE treatments but I work in a massage/facial spa so massage is SUPER important. I watched and learned from you and I am now being complimented on my wonderful massage technique. Thank you so much! It has helped me so much! Just a FYI I make sure to count on both sides of the face so as not to favor one side more than another! 😂😘

Is the key to the fluid movements lot’s of product on skin or wet fingers?
I notice you never seem to leave on a mask to completely dry, so when do you let a mask set dry?

How do you determine surface dryness with oily skin underneath vs dry skin

not sure - I don't get acne on my cheeks which is where I get the redness. I might have a very light case?
Great thanks!

My skin is so oily and congested so I've always used cleansers that foam or lather so you're saying not to so idk what to use because the cleansers that don't foam usually are for drier skin please please could you let me know is there one for oily acne prone skin like maybe one that's medicated non foaming -thanks so much 😘
Please see my note below to you...xo
Hi nerida, I was just wondering what product line you use? I’ve been looking at all different type of product lines to put in my shop. But I can’t decide what I want to use .

@@NeridaJoySkincare will do and thanks so much for responding back to me. ❤️🙏
Is there a more affordable skin care line. I pray that the answer is yes.
Check out Jordan Samuel Skin....:))
Thank you for the video! Just wanted to ask about your opinion about retinol: should people in their young thirties with first wrinkles appearing use it? In small percentage of course.
Yes, it is fine buffered into a moisturizer... MILD:))
Thank you for response! :)
You can reach out to me via email njskincare@aol.com :))
What brand of steamer do you use?
Ma'am I love the way u massage the face, hope l was present with u ❤
Oh wow thank you so much for your reply & advice 😀😀😀 Ok perfect I will go into town today & pick these up & start my Nerida mission xx
Hi Nerida :-) I have picked up some Bare Minerals makeup.. I'm stuck on which exfoliator to try, do you think proactive+ would be ok? X
May be a little strong, try a gylcolic/papaya cream exfoliant would be better.
Is there any mask you can recommend that we get in the uk for 40 plus skin kind regards
Check with Caroline Hirrons in the UK. She a product lady that knows them all:))
Nerida Joy great thank you so kindly
How can we differentiate between nourishing granules and dry ones?
Hello Mild,
Dry granules, like a salt, is more abrasive and leaves the skin fresh and scrubbed.
Nerida Joy I live in Florida 😊
Hey Nerida I wanted to ask you about my skin because I've had pretty bad acne since about 6th grade and I'm 20 now, I've also gotten extremely bad keloid scars on my back, but I've gone through so many different prescription and non prescription fixes for acne and they've never helped my doctor wants me to start acutane in the next couple weeks and I wanted to know your opinion on acutane and tips for what to do well on. I know it dries out your skin horribly and is very rough so what can I do to help my skin during and after acutane, thanks x
Can you please send me a close pic of your skin to njskincare@aol.com
hello
Love your videos and how informative you are!
what advice would you give a new estetician in the field and what must have equipment would you recomend for someone who wants to start seeing their own clients?
A magi lamp and a steamer ..... best advice ... be thorough. Learn how to diagnose different skin types and sub-conditions so that you can treat your clients skin the best way you can for can.
can you massage with cleanser to give a deeper clean and to be able to give the face a massage at the same time
Usually, cleanser is use to cleanse the skin prepping skin for treatment and must be wash off (remove). Gel cleanser is applied on dry skin in circular motion for 30-60 seconds and as gel it will dry out quickly not an ideal for facial massage. Nerida uses a hydrating mask sometimes diluted with the healing gel to massage skin prefers over an oil facial massage.
May I ask which mask your using, looks dreamy 😍
rejuvi purifying mask www.educateyourskin.com
I love your videos. I've learned so much from them. I wanted to know what products you use I'm a cosmetologist and I do a lot of brides and bridesmaids makeup and hair, sometimes they have really dry skin that makes it difficult for me to make there makeup look flawless so I often recommend for them to go get a facial and they always ask for me to do it for them. I just started doing the facials jut I really need to find a great line of products to use with my clients. If you can recommend me please. Thanks again.
Thank you :)) What lines are you liking so fare?
What treatments would you recommend for combination skin?
Hello Kylie,
You could try a little vitamin C and a light cream containing AHA like lactic or glycolic acids. There sounds more to this with the bumps and the fact that the scars/spots are red means they are newer and possibly still active with possible rosacea. I realize you are in Hawaii, but it is best we chat via phone when you can .....easier and quicker for me to help you this way 310 625-6627 :))
omg I'm just reading this now and it's 12am my time I'll call you tomorrow, thank you so much!
Could you please give th name of the products you are sing
rejuvi www.educateyourskin.com :)
Thank you so much Nerida for your response and all that you do to educate us. Blessings!
Yes
Would love to know what're your thoughts on seems rolling the. skin? please
Hello Veronica,
Can you define rolling in more detail? Is it manual or with a machine?
Manual, Thank you
If it is a type of fascia massage, it is probably great:))
First of all thank U so much for all Ur great videos which r so helpful ❤ could U please tell me what is goid for large pores? these pores appear everytime after I have thise ugly comedones. and how can I extract those whiteheads? Thank U so much in advance
Hello Tamara,
To keep your pores small, you must clean your skin well. :))
Nerida Joy OmG U r sooo kind. thank U so much, really its so nice of U. God bless U 😙 such a pity that I leve in europe
I love your videos but I wish you could tell us what products you use on your clients. I'm always confused on what to use from the drug store.
A Schmeltz I believe Nerida doesn't use drugstore products.
Mashka I'm positive she doesn't. guess I should've said that I wished she would give recommendations on what to use.
She says she doesn't mention products because she doesn't want to endorse anything
Hello there,
I know it is confusing, as there are sooooo many products to choose from. If you can send me a pic, very close up pic, I will recommend a few brands that should work for you ..... :))
Nerida Joy thank you so much...where should I send it?
What's the name o f the body scrub you used on her arms?
its an ella bache hydrating almond mask for dry skin. Not sure of the exact name anymore as I think they changes it:))
@@NeridaJoySkincare I mean what you used to scrub exfoliate her arms .thanks.

Thank you
What kind and what brand are you using for facial?
I mostly use rejuvi or Valmont in my treatments....
Great video
Thank you:))
is it ok to massage acneic skin? thanks nerida!!
esthetic fetish no you don't want to massage acne skin. As you can spread bacteria and also cause irritation... if it's very mild you may massage the skin but avoid those areas. I am a licensed esthetician . I hope that helps (:
Hi there,
Massage is good if there is scaring (post acne), but if there is pustules and/or papules present, a little pressure point massage is best so you do not break and spread infection. Massage, like heat, stimulates sebaceous activity, so it is best to not massage an oily acneic skin in general.
Well said Hannah, Thank you :)
Light massage, but if there is lots of pustules you do not want to do so as Hannah mentions:))
Hi dear can u advise me about a good esthetic school in very Virginia
I don't know, but hopefully someone reading this (an Aesthetician) may be able to offer info for you:))
What signs shows a person is just surface dry and oily underneath?
Please watch my videos..... i answer this so many times:)) educateyourskin.com
do u have anti wrinkle massage
upward motion....massage in a good treatment moisturizer :))
Hi, Nerida I just viewed your video (Esty) here, what was the first product you massage onto the skin. Different mask or massage cream. Love watching you work.
are you asking what massage cream i am using?
Hi nerida
do you have recommendation of electronic devices that good for facial massage?
Thanks:)
Some like ReFa CARAT face massager or the NuFACE:))
for most masks these days, I always cover with a damp piece of gauze so that the mask doesnt dry out, and then cover eyes with a warm eye compress.
Hi Nerida, your videos are awesome , i wish to know the name and brand of product that you're using. please email me or .... i don't know i'm curious to know . thank you very much
I use mostly rejuvi in my office treatments
Surface dryness...kaolin is great.

Funny she said that Estheticians spend more time on one side I noticed that in other videos she massages around the left eye more that the right. Lol might be some editing issue but she shows the whole massage. Lol
Hello Melissa,
Yes, you are absolutely correct Lol. The camera is on my left side and I find myself favoring that side as a results..... ;)
You are so funny, Thank you Melissa. Tonight is my night to reply to my many viewers. Keep up the great work... xo
