Hey Buddy , Can you help me please I bought the cable and km still not getting any sound ? Do you know why ? I plug the extension cable to that cable to goe to the to amp from the trunk , still no sound
I've watched this video so many times, and each time I appreciate more and more how informative it is. Upgrading an X5's infotainment system literally feels like dealing with the akashic records or some other esoteric dark art. Thank you so much for this.
It really does take a while to get your head around how the system works. Im sure people watching it for the first time will miss certain points, that they pick up later on. Thanks for the kind words.
My e39 had the most basic "business cd" version and luckily for me there was no DSP. I grabbed an Xtrons unit a few months ago after watching Dave install his Android unit (Erisin from memory). Mine is Android10 with PX6 processor, 4gb ram and 64gb rom. It's really been a pleasure, I read reviews of people complaining about Android units being glitchy or slow but mine is awesome, I guess that's what you get if you buy a cheap lower spec unit, I replaced all my speakers with Focal gear and it sounds amazing. Apple Carplay in my 20 year old BMW is a godsend.
Great video. An easy way to explain all of this is if your car has factory navigation, you will need that 5m extension harness. If you have DSP, you will need to bypass the factory amp with an aftermarket amp. If you have the simple head unit with no screen, you're good to plug and play the aftermarket head unit without needing the 5m extension harness :)
Could you send me the DSP wiring diagrams you mentioned please. I am just waiting on the same head unit and keen to look at going aftermarket subs. I have a 4.6is also. Thanks G
Michael, makes sense. i have an android system, plugged it in and turned on but no sound at all. Not sure what i am doing wrong? I have the amp that is on the left of the screen the standard hifi unit not the one on the right of screen. I also have the navigation unit from factory with the same head unit that is in the car on this video. I have no idea what DSP is? any reason why no sound is coming from my unit? i connected bluetooth audio and even with my phone no sound was coming out. its doing my head in now. I think it has to do with the amp? grrr.

Glad it was helpful! If you do have any other questions please dont hesitate to ask. But once you get your head around how it all works together its pretty easy to sort out. Good luck with the upgrades anyway.
I bought the 6 meter cable. Radio is turning on, but i dont have sound. On the end of the cable in the trunk i have one connector over. Do i need to plug that in to something in the trunk?
This video went straight over my head, then there was a part where I thought "ah yes, now I get it" closely followed by "so much work and thinking 😢" haha
Hi there. thank you for all the information you have given. I would like more explanation if I am not replacing the hi-fi amp, how would I go about that? I do not have DSP
Thank you so much for this How-to video.. I've had a big hole in my dash for ages.. just got an Xtrons head unit, just ordered the 6m connection cable... like step one and step two of a ofa 30 step install. But my question of the day is about the antenna lead i don't see it connecting in.the 6m cable ... is that a separate cable I need to source?
I think you nailed the explanation Andrew. I am surprised they didn't run a digital connection down from the front to the rear. I believe they started that in the later e series.
Interestingly some of this generation did use a coax digital signal for the DSP, however, i have never seen one in the flesh so they must be very rare. But yeah the DSP in this car has the coax digital input. But you are right the fibre optic most bus on the e series is on pretty much all hifi models.
Hey man I bought an android headunit and I bought the additional wiring harness that goes from the trunk to the headunit because I had oem nav with DSP, but only my front speakers are working, I can’t get my Nokia subwoofers and rear speakers to work. any advice? Some told me I need the i-bus module and some said I don’t.
What if you dont have an amplifier on the boot you only have the BM54 head unit in the back? i didnt hear you cover that? im assuming i can probably just run that long cable to the bm54 cable?
Personally the bass you get from a sub isn't actually that useable in a car, crank the volume up and it tends to just vibrate everything lol. If there's any doubts in the doors speakers etc I'd upgrade them to really good quality component speakers and keep it simple. You'll get all your audio quality setup that way and have plenty bass available too
Thank you for the informative video! So I own a 02 e46 m3, which has a non-screen business cd player, and I'm trying to get a head unit. I have watched a lot of youtube videos on E46 head units, some got the complicated wiring to the trunk and some of them don't. So prior to the purchase, I just want to clarify if I can avoid the wiring headache with the basic business cd player?
It's alright going into what booster and what amplifier everything else where are all these things, are they linked to the CD unit all the GPS unit. You've got all these units laid out in the boot but where do they all come from
Hey great y I need to replace my stereo system conplet and more question can't you tell me where I can't find parts for sale for the 2003 BMW X5 4.4i any seat i wanna change the wood trim for the one you have in your car
Hi, I have installed the Eonon one on my 2003 e39 m5. I am confused about the Can Bus installation. Do I have to plug it to get the steering controls working and where should I plug it? And the buttons illumination, I had to jump the power wire from the factory harnesd to the extension cable to get them illuminated when switching the hradlights on. Also, can I add a region in the unit to make radio channels compatible with the regional bands here in Saudi Arabia?
I m going to replace my stock headunit with this one, or the other larger screen type. Not decides yet which one to go. Do you think the larger screen one (no buttons) looks ok?
When you disconnect the battery, sometimes you get asked for a code and need to reinstall the original unit to enter the code. Is the Ibus able to enter the code?
At least for the E39, the facelift (2001-2003) version is using the quadlock connector (flat pins). And the pre-facelift (1996-2000) version is using the round pin type
Hey, great video. I watched the whole video, maybe I didnt get it but is there an option in which I use the existing DSP (original, it still works)? My question really is this: what is the simplest way to install android in a E53 with DSP and the head unit like you have? No need for fancy sound, just need it to work.
You can use the stock DSP, however you will need a device on the ibus to send the required data to the DSP to turn it on. Some of the latest androids have this built in, otherwise the Ibus dongle will do it for you.
I've just put a deposit down on an X5 (woohoo!) and was going to ask the same thing. For now I only really to change the head unit, but keep the DSP amp, factory speakers and sub. What is the ibus? The long harness you showed?
I will check them out. We have a collection of old amps, that we have been holding on to for god knows why, so will try and repurpose those instead of spending money for now. However, if we end up upgrading speakers we may need a new amps anyway.
Hello i just want a help i want to buy one i think that i need the 6m cable extension but due the budget can i run the head unite without the cable extension and bypass the amplifier
Great video. How were you able to get it to seat well. I installed one in an X5 and there are only 2 screw holes at the top right and left of the stereo, but nothing to secure the bottom portion. Mine seems to pop out at the bottom as I tighten the top screws. What did you do to keep the bottom portion from flaring out?
Hey Laz, this unit still isnt screwed it, it just sits in place. Never actually screwed it in as the system was never fully finished, but its sits in place pretty much perfectly and never moves.
Any chance would you have a link for the Y-extension harness? i have exhausted my options trying to get my Xtrons unit to work on my '08 E93. The unit works, but no sounds comes out of speakers nor any radio channels found. i have tried the fiberoptic bypass loop to have the amp turn on, but no luck. i think i will have to connect the OEM unit extended into the trunk, so the ID can be found on the buss network. Love your channel, and you always have great info. Hopefully you can save me, lol.
You need to run them through the stock CCC unit on a e9x. On the e9x the androids simply connect to the factory CCC aux in. Very different setup to these older cars.
I have an E38 with the 4:3 navigation screen. Does not have DSP but the amp is in the back. What if I want to completely bypass the stock amp and rewire the speakers? Do I still need the 6M cable?
I've got a 2006 x5 with the DSP. I've got an XTRONS head, and I bought the 6 meter cable. I want to keep the DSP unit and hopefully minimize the puzzle. Can't find a wiring diagram for the XTRONS and still asking them for an Installation Manual. Wish me luck. So far, I plug everything in and the XTRONS doesn't power up... something's missing. Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering and the number of wires, cables and connectors is a bit intimidating :-)
my 2002.09 E53 has also the old BC style with monochrome screens in it. It does have some kind of box in the left pocket of the boot that I spliced into to get my high level sound for aftermarket amp for and antenna power supplies also the amp remote switch. I guess that is the hifi amp? one thing though, there’s CD54 unit in the dash for me with CD player in it and it’s heavy. people on the internet claim that just replacing the dash units should be pretty much it. how much did the Xtrons unit cost? didn’t notice that in the video 😀
It was just over $400AUD delivered. The reason i went with it was its got the most powerful CPU xtrons offer, im also looking to seeing how the qualcom 5 bluetooth internet sharing from the iphone works. I will explain in a later video but sometimes connecting to iphone hotspots is a bit iffy, which is why i run a full time hotspot in my e92. Heres a link to the listing if you want the full specs. ebay.us/Ov0iHC
Hello great videos as usual u have a x5 e53 face-lift with the stock navigation unit, and my speakers don't work but some times they start working all of a sudden(sometimes the front ones work and some times the back ones) what do you think the problem is. Thanks in advance.
Hello I have 05 x5 4.8is I install the Sony stereo double din I already installed the wire go to the trunk n head unit I have little sound but not much already give all the volume n still nothing what is the problem thanks
i have a non-DSP HiFi amp and want to add a 10” shallow sub with alpine amp - is it just plug and play to send signal to the amp from the xtrons? (my xtrons is in the mail now)
Hey mate I've got an 2006 E46 325ci Convertible with the same factory unit that you have, I have the EXL006 6m Harness unlike the one you have, I have tested the unit out by plugging the 40pin directly into the xtrons unit and everything seems to be working but I was just wondering if you knew what the 24 pins of wiring below the 14 do? Because they are no longer being used I was wondering what they did also the other plug has 4 wires going into it what are they for? Because of the 6m harness I have the canbus module will now be in the boot, I was just wondering if you knew of any downsides to putting the canbus adapter in the boot rather than behind the radio and having to run the chunky extension harness to the radio. Cheers.
The pins that dont get used are mainly for the original screen. However there are few other signal wires in them, that are no longer needed now that the factory radio is being bypassed. It doesnt matter where your can bus module is located. As long as its in the can bus line somewhere.
I watched hours of videos and I read tons of different posts from various forum pages... Your video is the most explanatory resource. Thanks for the information. I need help with my e38 with factory DSP amplifier. 1998 e38 with DSP (without nav - no need for 6m cable) and stock speakers I was not able to change the direction of the sound. Even if I change the balance cursor sound was still coming from all speakers. I decided to buy and install Avin Avant 4 with DSP option and focal 2-way speakers with crossovers to replace 4-door speakers (rear deck 4 speakers are factory original). Now I have very low and distorted sound from all speakers and I cannot direct sound to any speaker same as the old setup. I bought a used DSP factory amplifier to try but no luck, the result is the same. I am thinking about buying an aftermarket amplifier but not sure about what to do for a good sound quality I need your advice.
I think ditching the DSP is the way to go. The fact the factory DSP is canbus bus controlled is just a nightmare. The DSP is also a very old piece of electronics that wont last much longer. I'd go new amp and crossover setup and simplify the system.
@@ZeroTo60Tube Head unit is Avin Avant 4. Door speakers are Focal Acces a130 2-way for all the doors. I will keep rear deck speakers stock. I ordered an Alpine PDX-V9 amplifier and Focal RCA cables. I will bypass DSP and put the amplifier and crossovers into the trunk. I have I-bus license and USB on the head unit. Am I going to loose any feature by ditching DSP amp? I checked the pin diagram you shared. What will happen to cables other than speaker cables? for example "telephone mute signal cable" Do I need to connect them anywhere or just blind them or what?
@@fatihkervanoglu you wont loose any features, you will have a normal aftermarket stereo from this point. I did nothing with the mute signals etc. You no longer have the factory car phone module, well you will have none of the factory modules.
@@bramvandervelden6891 I can’t get sound and idk why, I have everything hooked up right the head unit display is working flawlessly, gps, radio stations are seeking but can’t get a peep out of the speakers. Put my factory one back in and works immediately I’m at a loss
Hi, my BMW is the 2005 X5 E53 with the tuner in the back boot. I have to buy the Aerpro BMW Quadlock Extention (APFH022) to connect the aftermarket head unit to the tuner in the back (underneath the spare tyre). However, while everything is working, there is no sound from the DSP. Not sure if you have any suggestion? Thanks
So I have an android unit from previous owner installed, connected with 1 blue plug to the bm54 (yes still there). My car also doesn't have the left amp (it was a option in europe ?). It is a navigation/no dsp car. But I only get sound from the RR speaker, sometimes LR for 10-30 seconds too when I just started the car. I've read alot on bm54 issues and think this is my problem. But how come every android video/topic says i need the 6m cable and delete the bm54 ??
Could you do a video of stereo removal please and a shallow sub in the factory sub spot this is what I want to do with mine as I use all the boot space 😜
Thanks , that was quite useful. I just grabbed me on of those androids today then realized it don't come with the harness which my instincts told me would be missing ☹️. Now I have one of those front panels just like the one you have , it has an amp only in the boot and no DSP , will I still need the new harness ?
You will yeah, the harness will connect the android up from to gear in the boot. If you are no DSP, but with front screen, you should just connect the harness to the original radio down in the spare wheel well.
I have an e53 with dsp, if I don’t want to bypass it and leave the system factory and just replace the headunit with one more updated can I just run the 6m cable and it will be fine? Or are there other steps I need to take?
Hi I’m asking how to tell if you have dsp. I have the same head unit as in the video. It doesn’t say I have on the menu. If I don’t is it a straight plug & play? 🙏
@@ZeroTo60Tube Hi can you put a link for the head unit please. I’m looking at their 4gig ram 64 g rom. Also for the connection wire please. I’m looking at doing the install myself along with your camera install & ibus 🤞😁
I am driving a e46 touring with hi fi sound system. My wide navi display is not showing anything, just a black screen. Everything work normal. To repair this screen i must pay a money almost as much as for android. From you video i understand that if i buy an android or something else i must use again the bm54 module and a hi fi amolifier, right? But what about sound quality? Hi fi amplifier and bm54 are are quite lacking in sound quality…. How i can change that?
all had amplifiers. Cars equipped with navigation which has the screen you need the additional cable small or large screen. If no screen the additional harness is not needed.
@@ZeroTo60Tube thanks. My 2003 Range Rover l322 (bmw make) with old school radio and I bought an erisin stereo hoping to upgrade. After fitting all the multiplugs , I found no sound output, so I think I should have connect the new stereo to the old bm53 or 54. Is right? But I can’t find the extension cable with 3 quadlock on eBay to fit. Maybe I should buy a cable and make another extra quadlock to fit….
So I have a e39 with standard stereo called business and I believe there is no amps at all so how to connect and do I need to run the harness to the boot?

Hi, sorry i need help, i have a BMW x5 e53 from 2005, but in the rear on the left i have no hi-fi aplifieror DSP. Do i need some cable or do i just plug in the new radio and it will work? thanks for the help !
Hi mate, you’ve probably already answered this a dozen times but can you tell me where I can buy the extension cable? I just got dooped buying the stereo and and need the harness extension
Hey man, each of the china manufacturers use a different pin out, so you need to get the extension cable that works with that particular unit. However, xtrons do sell a cable that just extends the BMW connector. So you use the xtrons 6m cable and then the short cable that would have been supplied with your unit. Prior to this you would plug the 6m cable straight in to unit and throw the short cable away. I hope that makes sense. Anyway, best way is to speak to whereever you bought the unit from.
@@ZeroTo60Tube Champion thanks mate. Yeah I only just need the extension. The head unit came with the correct wiring but was just the small 20cm length. Searched everywhere in Australia for a place but the Xtron will sort it
Love your video. I've installed a Eonon GA9350 in my E46 2004. The radio looses frequency even now and then. I tried to up the antenna. Still no good. The GPS is not working, i think i need a SD card. But the good news is the blue tooth for the phone, rear camera and mic is working Yeah. Do you know anything about this system and are you located in Melbourne. cheers Robert
Hi Robert, unfortunately not. Sorry we can't help. On the same note if you have a unit in there already working, putting the latest model in, should be a breeze.
@@ZeroTo60Tube hey thanks for getting back to me I've gone through everything and it looks like the csnbus decoder that they sent me is for a e39 not a e53.. ill email xtron to see if this makes a difference..hey do you have a vid on how u wired up that birds eye camera on ur x5?
A lot of audiophiles on reddit swear off from using Chinese android units. They keep telling me I will be very disappointed with the audio quality. The problem is the brand name head units simply dont fit nice in the E53. There is gonna be so much dead space. Whats your opinion on the sound quality of these Chinese units?
If you are using audio streaming services like spotify or youtube music that is your limitation on sound quality currently. The only way you may possibly notice a difference would be using FLAC (full lossless audio files). If you are using flac files the headunit doesnt matter anyway. You will have a digital sound processor after the headunit to make it worth while and the real audiophiles will have an optical connection from a high res player connected directly to the DSP by passing any headunit. The modern android units sound as good as any iphone or samsung phone when it comes to processing audio. So if you are happy with listening to music through your phone (whether its headphones or bluetoothed to something) you will be happy with the android. If you wanna go all out, get a decent DSP, tune the sound stage in the car (ditch the dash speakers which bounce on the windscreen fyi) and run the android through that. The DSP will tune away any issues of the android and sound great, like properly great even for music streaming. If you haven't looked in to aftermarket DSP yet, you defs dont need to worry about audio quality, like the online audiophiles make out.... :P Keep in mind there is a massive group of people that believe vinyl records sound better than digital music......... They are probably all virgins. :P
@@ZeroTo60Tube hahahaha they probably are! Your reasoning is already way beyond the reasons they give which is not more than " its just cheap chinese crap", "it will sounds so bad" and "you will regret it trust me bro". I am not even looking to upgrade the oem speakers amp or DSP. I will be using mp3. I can't hear the difference between FLAC and mp3 when I listen to it with decent headphones. Also the only upgrade I want to do is a new stereo and a sub since my car didn't come with the factory sub. I am not sure if I will have to get a new amp for the sub or if the factory amp has a channel for it since a lot e53 came with a factory sub in the back? Thanks a lot for answering my question by the way. I am once again very excited to get a cool looking tons of feature packed android unit!
In the e39 he went with an Android that still looks like a stock unit. Biggest thing to get is the ibus module, so you can still control all the factory OBD functions. th-cam.com/video/pf6y7KG32iI/w-d-xo.html

@@technik333 There could be quite a few things, but if the screen doesn't turn on its most likely the C43/BM53 module in the boot or i guess it may simply be the screen. @@ZeroTo60Tube thank you so much for getting back to me. I checked again this morning, I can hear the DSP amplifier is running when I turned on the car, power is going through the C23's fuse. What's the best way to get the extension wires to the front of the car and hiding them through the vehicle
Very nice video. I have only one question. I have an early E46 with an amp that I see on 7:06 on the part car. What harness I will need for that amp?
Hi there. thank you for all the information you have given.
Hi guys great video, I bought the same unit and I need the cable. Did your cable come aerial adapted in cable my X from has no areial in box
Unfortunately not
I think you nailed the explanation Andrew.
If you have DSP you will need ibus module to turn the DSP. Unless your headunit specifically listed as controlling the factory DSP.
So how do I retain the dsp amp without keeping the factory headunit? I really don't want the old one sitting in my glovebox
Have you figured it out I want to put this in my e39
What if you dont have an amplifier on the boot you only have the BM54 head unit in the back? i didnt hear you cover that? im assuming i can probably just run that long cable to the bm54 cable?
Yes correct
Personally the bass you get from a sub isn't actually that useable in a car, crank the volume up and it tends to just vibrate everything lol. If there's any doubts in the doors speakers etc I'd upgrade them to really good quality component speakers and keep it simple. You'll get all your audio quality setup that way and have plenty bass available too
I guess depending on the type of music you listen to and the volumes you listen at that could be the case.
I disagree. One tiny subwoofer would make that component system sound much better. No need to shake the rearview so you can't see.
i still have another question. Is it relatively easy to remove any trims in order to pass the harness through the car?
Yes, so easy i cant even remember how, it just comes apart from memory.
Can I remove the NAV and BM54 module and replace it to the simple radio? This is so much easier. I have so many problem with the stock computer...
Good stuff! What was the speaker diagram/wire colors? Thanks
You've got all these units laid out in the boot but where do they all come from
Thanks for the info bro but where do I get that connection from to power up the android
Hey great y I need to replace my stereo system conplet and more question can't you tell me where I can't find parts for sale for the 2003 BMW X5 4.4i any seat i wanna change the wood trim for the one you have in your car
Hi,
I have installed the Eonon one on my 2003 e39 m5.
Lots of good info in your video, helped clarify a lot for my e46 project. Thanks for sharing!
Glad it helped!
I m going to replace my stock headunit with this one, or the other larger screen type.
Not decides yet which one to go. Do you think the larger screen one (no buttons) looks ok?
the video is awesome, I have a question? Can you tell me where that radio plug is in the trunk of my e46 m3 06, i could not find it. Thanks in advance
To be honest i have never pulled a E46 stereo apart. Sorry i cant help
What about if you have dsp but no nav? No one talks about that? Is it plug and play?
Hi is there a link to the pin out for the speaker wiring into the crossovers
Just the info in the next video where it gets wired in.
When you disconnect the battery, sometimes you get asked for a code and need to reinstall the original unit to enter the code. Is the Ibus able to enter the code?
Did you have a pinout for the alpine n18 hifi amp single plug
Sorry I dint
I have question i have bmw e39 with hifi dsp i want Upgrade but how i do
At least for the E39, the facelift (2001-2003) version is using the quadlock connector (flat pins). And the pre-facelift (1996-2000) version is using the round pin type
What extension lead do i search and buy on ebay is there a link please
Stjepan did you get yours working?
For amps have a look at the vibe power box units they are pretty cheap and really small so easy to hide away
I will check them out. We have a collection of old amps, that we have been holding on to for god knows why, so will try and repurpose those instead of spending money for now. However, if we end up upgrading speakers we may need a new amps anyway.
Looks like this head unit is the IB9053BL?
Hey I'm currently Install an android deck in an e53 just like that one I need to know where the steering control wires are located 😢
Hello i just want a help i want to buy one i think that i need the 6m cable extension but due the budget can i run the head unite without the cable extension and bypass the amplifier
hey mate can you link me to the wiring pinouts for the factory hifi amp (not dsp)
@@ZeroTo60Tube thanks! I'll give that a try.
I have a question BMW E 53 can box settings steering wheel does not work what settings to choose
can you please install all these without the amplifier so cause i want to buy this unit and connect it with all the original modules of the car
I have an E38 with the 4:3 navigation screen. Does not have DSP but the amp is in the back. What if I want to completely bypass the stock amp and rewire the speakers? Do I still need the 6M cable?
Hi I just got a e53 x5 and I am only getting sound from the left hand side of the car have you any idea what's wrong and how to fix thanks anthony
The link for the cable you provided Doesn't post to United States. Do you have another alternative.
i dont sorry
I've got a 2006 x5 with the DSP. I've got an XTRONS head, and I bought the 6 meter cable. I want to keep the DSP unit and hopefully minimize the puzzle. Can't find a wiring diagram for the XTRONS and still asking them for an Installation Manual. Wish me luck. So far, I plug everything in and the XTRONS doesn't power up... something's missing. Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering and the number of wires, cables and connectors is a bit intimidating :-)
Do i need to do all this? I mean all i want to is to listen to some radio while going from point A to point B?
Yes
my 2002.09 E53 has also the old BC style with monochrome screens in it.
I think it's the b54 module. Bmw doctor should have a youtube video on this topic..

Glad you liked it!
i have a non-DSP HiFi amp and want to add a 10” shallow sub with alpine amp - is it just plug and play to send signal to the amp from the xtrons?
I am thinking about buying an aftermarket amplifier but not sure about what to do for a good sound quality
I need your advice.

Thanks
Hi... where does the second box connect to in the boot please?
Depends on your cars setup. But most just connect to the BM53 module.
I’m so lost by this sorry. Do you know anywhere in NSW that can fit my Xtrons for me to my 2005 E46 with HK and DSP?
I have an e53 with dsp, if I don’t want to bypass it and leave the system factory and just replace the headunit with one more updated can I just run the 6m cable and it will be fine? Or are there other steps I need to take?
Its been so long i can't really remember the exact process and setup with these units. Sorry/

Hi I’m asking how to tell if you have dsp. I have the same head unit as in the video. It doesn’t say I have on the menu. If I don’t is it a straight plug & play? 🙏
Wel assuming yours isn’t faulty like ours was. Easiest way to tell is by the connectors on the amp. Dsp has 3 connectors, hifi amp has one

Hi fi amplifier and bm54 are are quite lacking in sound quality…. How i can change that?
all had amplifiers. Cars equipped with navigation which has the screen you need the additional cable small or large screen. If no screen the additional harness is not needed.

i have a BMW x5 e53 from 2005, but in the rear on the left i have no hi-fi aplifieror DSP.
Do i need some cable or do i just plug in the new radio and it will work?

If you dont have the hifi amp, the audio may still be coming from the BM53 unit in the spare wheel well. You will need to check if you have that.
So I have an e39 2003 I understand the wiring but what about the antenna how do I get it up front
You must use an extension.
I’ve just got the basic radio hoping I don’t have an amplifier since that means I won’t have to go through that hassle
Searched everywhere in Australia for a place but the Xtron will sort it
So I have dsp. Does that mean I cannot use the factory amp?
The DSP is the factory amp. You will need a way to control the DSP. Or bypass it.

I am once again very excited to get a cool looking tons of feature packed android unit!
what head unit did you get for Daves E39-thinking of doing my e39
In the e39 he went with an Android that still looks like a stock unit. Biggest thing to get is the ibus module, so you can still control all the factory OBD functions. th-cam.com/video/pf6y7KG32iI/w-d-xo.html
OK, stupid question, but, say I'm putting in an android head unit, but just want to keep the factory amp crap and everything, say I've got it all connected, but can't seem to find the amp signal wire connection, how do i activate the factory amp??
If its hifi you need to find the pin outs and trigger the amp with the amp remote power, if its DSP you need to run the ibus app and DSP license.
@@ZeroTo60Tube It's the amp remote in wire I'm having trouble finding. I basically have everything ready but no sound because of that one wire, I have the wire from the head unit, but since it has 5V coming from it, I don't want to start sticking it places lol

@@technik333 There could be quite a few things, but if the screen doesn't turn on its most likely the C43/BM53 module in the boot or i guess it may simply be the screen. You have a couple of options with regards to the size of the display, just keep in mind with the 10" android isnt overly suited to such a wide display. Lastly just keep in mind you will need the ibus app to control the DSP through the android. By control i mean change eq settings etc.
@@ZeroTo60Tube thank you so much for getting back to me. Yes hopefully it is just the faulty C23 radio tuner/unit (mine is an older version with the 17 round adapter instead of the pin) I am currently looking for a replacement unit in Melbourne, I think you have a spare one in one of your project cars. I checked again this morning, I can hear the DSP amplifier is running when I turned on the car, power is going through the C23's fuse. I suspect it could be also the i-bus is not sending signal to activate the radio given my E38 is fitted with DSP. My next plan of attack is the screen, DSP amplifier and possible the LCM module hidden in the footwell.
@@ZeroTo60Tube very tempted to replace the factory to an xtrons android unit, however looks like there are heaps of work to by-pass the DSP processor plus the E38 has limited space in the front instrument panel and can only with a slimmer unit I believe due to the bulky HVAC box.

I’m having this same problem with my 2002 X5 bought an eBay android. Everything installed super easy and the head unit turns on and works but no sound coming out of the speakers. If you mess with it for long enough turning the car on and off it will sometimes start to work until I shut the car off again then same problem. Doesn’t seem like the amp is being triggered to turn on is my guess. I’m not sure what to do either. I dint think either one of us has dsp because the amp that’s in my car is the smaller black one which was furthest to the left in the video. Any thoughts on this for us???
