The main issue is that Citlali explicitly said that "Only Mavuika's death can clear the debt" at the beginning of Act 5, and she also saw Mavuika's fate ending with death. Not only the game takes a LOT of time to build the fact that Citlali's prophetic visions are never wrong, so we're led to believe everything she says, but we also know that fate cannot be changed, it always happens in some form or another, so it doesn't really matter if Capitano sacrifices himself, Mavuika should still have to die in order to clear the debt. However, in truth, it appears to be a matter of bad translation, because in the chinese dialogue, the conditions for the pact are much more vague. Citlali instead states that only a death as good as Mavuika's will be enough to clear the debt, leaving the door open to Capitano's exit since they are both perceived as equals. Also, I don't think Ronova had to give up on her rule. A death technically occured, since Capitano's soul went to the Night Kingdom and fused with the LotN. It's just that his body cannot die, so it is still there, sitting on the throne, empty.
So, Citlali isn't all knowing, she still a human shaman at the end of the day. But either way, it's a transaction. Like fully. In this case, The Ruler of Death is the supplier, The Lord of the Night is the retailer and the Pyro Archon is the buyer and user. When the Pyro Archon tried to pay though, it turned out that The Captain covered her bill and paid it for her. That's it. That's what the Lord of Night tries to explain. The payment the supplier had to be death, but the retailer and payee essentially forced the supplier to give a discount it didn't want to.
Fate cannot EASILY be changed, but I do believe it can be changed. People also didn't know exactly who the Captain was or his worth. Also, the Traveler was involved, who has been shown to be a bit special, so probably changes everyone's fate just by being present and assisting (I'd love to see more on this in the future). I feel like Natlan and Fontaine are proving that things can be changed through drastic measures. After all, everyone was supposed to dissolve in Fontaine. It was a prophecy, it SHOULD have happened, but it didn't because of what Focalors sacrificed. Thus far, going by those two nations, it seems like fate can change if you big brain your way around the higher powers. Focalors deceived the Heavenly Principles; Capitano forced Ronova to decide between impossible choices. Slowly as we go through this game we're learning that fate can be changed and I'm damned curious about the upcoming region and quests to find out more.

Why do I feel like the end of Genshin's story would force us into making a choice. 1. Destroy the Heavenly principles and let the Abyss take over Teyvat. 2. Help preserve the Heavenly principles that would keep their Tyranny over teyvat, I.E the Gods, Sovereigns, Descenders, Fate, etc. The Lore runs deep and filled with shades of grey
that would make sense if this wasnt a gacha game. genshin being a gacha game means there is only going to have 1 solution to the celestia/abbys problem wich isnt letting any of those win, while leaving room to continue the story onwards.

for me, she didn't leave her rules, she allow a paradox, she "killed" capitano but he have to live forever with/has the nightkingdom, witch allow the nightkingdom to be immortal has well
You explained it better than the Genshin writers (or at least the Genshin translators), a few lines from the Lord of the Night saying she was the one that chooses who dies would have cleared it all for me.
It is wrong. She made the video based on mistranslation. Lord of the Night can't force Ronova in anyway nor is Pyro Archon the only possible price/Cap beng the only replacement
except it was explained wrong. First, the whole timeline of "heavenly principles created leylines before they even had control over teyvat (aka fighting the dragons)" makes no sense whatsoever. And second: ronova clearly said "if he fails to meet MY requirements", so the lord of the night is NOT in charge of the negotiation. Ronova absolutely could've said no.
To be fair, Hoyo's writers actually presented it well, but the lore is very scattered, and the average Genshin player has a Tik Tok attention span, so it's hard. For example, how many people even read Before Sun and Moon? or remember that Phanes, the Primordial one, is an androgynous being? or remember the overt line of the Lord of the Night which contextualizes all of Ronova's actions: Ronova loves mankind? This very line explains why, even if Ronova could say no, she'd never say it: Ronova loves mankind. She overstepped her own limitations for it, it explains why she created the night kingdom or even did a contract with Xbalanque: Because she loves mankind. Why would she not make the night kingdom immortal since she was the one whom helped creating it in the first place, oversteeping her own boundaries?
@hakimgamerzs5827 Did you reply to the wrong comment or woke up at the wrong side of the bed today ? There is no copium my original comment is just a meme , get lost Lol
Capitano found a loophole regarding the restrictions, authority, and demands of Ronova and Yohualtecuhtin. And because of that, a paradox was possible. He used that to be finally be able granted the sweet release of death from his mortal body, his curse of immortality, and the release of the accumulated lost souls into their proper resting places, along with Capitano's final resting place, which is ultimately, a fitting end. (Considering other regions rejected the release of the souls)
He probably couldn't do it in the other regions because the souls weren't from Teyvat/the ley lines, since at the time the Night kingdom was still a place separate from the ley lines or smt like that.
so there must be some way that there could be an angel that asked istaroth to help humanity with mondstadt and inazuma, or something since shades cannot interfere much
@@wanderer473maybe ishtaroth get punished into paimon then she make a plan to run into traveler to indirectly fix all the trouble she can't fix with HP rules
Why would her saying "no" be a mistake? Its LoN responsibility to listen to humanity yes and renova "had" to wait sure but once He said all he wanted to she could have said nah too tough choice and went with the original fate and she wouldnt uproot the natrual order of this world seems like a big win if we are considering punishment from HP
Because neither of these outcomes result in a punishment for her? The shades exchanging their power for a price is perfectly acceptable, and she got that price. She’s inherently a kind god, she wants to help humanity. Also, ronova DID have to wait. She’s the god of death not because she controls death as in killing, but living. The subject themselves has to choose how to die for her price to be carried out. Mavuika wanted also to merge with the LoN, just as capitano, but he could do it in a way that would save natlan rather than still have an inevitable fate. If anything, allowing this HELPED ronova because the HP HATEEEEE the abyss. They hate abyssal power. If she allowed mavuika to merge, the LoN still wouldn’t have had enough time! The abyss WOULD have come back eventually because the leylines would have been completely destroyed, natlan would have no natural defence. An entire nation belonging to the HP being swallowed by the abyss? They’d likely have killed her for that.
This video was a great help...i was also confused about this...one last doubt is can someone explain how Mavuika and Capitano's life holds equal value in the eyes of Ronova...like Mavuika is the pyro archon while Capitano is just a captain with almost equal strength as Mavuika
Because Capitano is a man who sticks to his code of ethics. He inspires people just as much as Mavuika does. That's shown by the fact Arlecchino says he's worthy of respect regardless of his power and by Wanderer saying he's righteous in their respective voice lines. Viktor, the fatuus in the cathedral, also wanted to transfer from Signora's group to Capitano's. Remember also, that during the archon quest Ororon described Capitano's soul as radiant and resilient.
Maybe Heavenly Principles don't want direct intervention on their fates, and their powers change fate. Maybe Heavenly Principles are the ones whom dictated the fate in the first place, and violating it goes against their own rules. Or maybe they have a view similar to the Christian god to a degree: People ought to have free-will, it is the best outcome and the largest display of love a god has for their creation is to have them have the free will to choose, even if it is to go against them, even in a determined fate( And remember, a strong enough will CAN violate fate), so by intervening, they take the free-will of people away. It especially applies to combating the abyss. You need a struggle to reinforce your will, just like evil and strife needs to exist so people actually desire for good even harder instead of lazing around. You need something to will against for your will to grow harder. I believe it even goes to create visions, as you need an ambition.
This interference with fate theory seems to be the best explanation I've seen so far, and it's better than the one I came up with. I still have a problem with it, as it requires interpretation to arrive at and I feel like this kind of thing should be spelled out in canon or "word of god." But I have another challenge to this interpretation. Ronova said she would collect many lives if the person who had to pay the cost could not conquer their fear of death. If Ronova's executor for the rule of death was always going to be the Lord of the Night, how was she going to get her to kill countless people?
Ronova didnt agree to cancel her rule of death. She merely accepted Capitanos exchange for Mavuika that would create the paradox to allow his merge with Lord of the Night and fixing of the Leylines. I think she realized that it would fix a lot of problems for her too.
Of course she agreed. There were two rules that threatened to cause the paradox, immortality and death. Capitano told her to pick between them. Then she said the curse of immortality must stand, which means she revoked the rule of death.
@@ahmedmubarak751 Because as shown multiple times in Natlan your soul is not stuck to your body. So while his body is still "alive" on the throne he gave his soul to the lord of the night and she linked it with her own. And apparently immortality affects the soul so now she's immortal too lol.
I finally understand what happened , thank you for explaining . I watched other videos but they never said why Ronova couldn't refuse the lord of the night 's choice
it is intersting how the Curse of Imortallity is considered as "Using Ronova's Power" since that was likely the condition for her desired death. An Imortal Knight can technically abuse the curse, but the Captain's honor is the only reason why he doesn't abuse his curse. Seeing someone she cursed wiling to sacrificed their life probably amused her a bit though it would be disappointing. Though it could be her understanding the effects merging with Lord of the NIght would do if the death was of someone who is supposed to be imortal since the sacrifice would absorb the amount of life left in the one dying. The Abyss most have a way to tamper with Ronova's Curse since Chlothar is dead.
Simple Whatever Capitano is doing is Fate Shades don’t have any authority to interfere with the fate Yohua is an angel , guardian of humanity so she has the authority than Ronova here
I think instead of Yohualtecuhtin "choosing" another human with equal value, it should be Yohua bending the rule for a little bit, making Capitano the "Pyro Archon" because he "wins" against Mavuika, and shows Ronova he wield the Pyro Gnosis. "After all, the Gnosis symbolize that person is the Archon". As "Pyro Archon", Capitano have to be the one who got sacrificed. And the rest is the same This way the rule are clear and don't cause confusion, but rather cleverly dodging around the rule just like Hydro Archon's death Although this need a bit of adjustment for the AQ. I think Capitano should ask Traveler that if they win, ask the Gnosis from Mavuika, in the pretense that they will "choose the new Pyro Archon at Mavuika's death"
Yohualtecuhin does not have the authority to choose Pyro Archons. The rules of Natlan are explicitly made so that Pyro Archons are chosen through the winners of the Pilgrimage. Capitano is not a native of Natlan, so he wouldn't be eligible for the Pilgrimage anyhow. Making this happen would outright require changing the narrative that was already established. I would also like to clarify that having a Gnosis does not insist that someone's the Archon. Signora didn’t become the Geo Archon, Wanderer didn’t become the Electro Archon, Arlecchino not the Hydro Archon and etc. For the Archons, it's emblematic for their position, but not for anybody else.
As much as I would prefer this kind of resolution, the archon is marked more by possession of a sovereign's authority than by possession of the gnosis.
Thank you so much for making this video. Also please remember if you're ever feeling burned out then make sure you take a break. For me, this channel is irreplaceable in the Genshin fandom.
To put simply why Ronova can't say no, it's because the curse of immortality was placed upon them by the Heavenly Principles as in her masters and that would mean disobeying the authority once again. As a Shade she is not allowed to interfere with the lives of mortals unlike the Angels yet she had done so multiple times for Natlan. The Heavenly Principles eventually caught wind of this and punished her for overstepping her boundaries. She can't undo the curse of immortality on the Captain is because again, it's not a curse she placed of her will but of her masters and saying no to the Captain's sacrifice would again be interfering with fate as it was the Lord of the Night who made an agreement with the Captain to make him the replacement for Mavuika's death. At least now Ronova has been freed from looking after Natlan as the Lord of the Night's life will fade no longer.
@@drmblu you can say dead you know and he's dead physically but his soul is still living. He is one with the Lord of the Night. In a conversation with Yohualtecuhtin Mavuika talks about how the First Descender fought the elemental dragons, and during that fight, they destroyed a "corner of the world", which, in this case, is Natlan. (Something along these lines at the very least)
In addition to what the other person said, the rules of Natlan and the night kingdom were created during the time of Xbalanque in the archon war. That means the ley lines were destroyed before then because the night kingdom was created as a replacement for the ley lines.
About the cataclysm, it just found Natlan's ley lines as deteriorated as they were and made it worse such that Natlan would only last for a period of 500 years before its utter destruction by the Abyss. This is what guided Mavuika to make a 500-year plan.
@@TruthHurts36 tbh, even though we still have a lot of yap to process through, the thing where he's not dead is just a problem of the players being too fixated on something. Thanks for the video! It clears things up for me :) However, from how I understood the story, I don't agree that Ronova cancelled her rule of death. That would mean defying the Heavenly Principles by disregarding the one rule she's supposed to uphold, right? I think she agreed to the paradox, which resulted in Capitano endlessly dying and living. Hence why he's now unable to move and stuck on a throne (it very much reminds me of Warhammer 40K). And since the deal was supposed to be a death for extended lifetime for Lord of the Night, it now turned into endless dying of Capitano = endless living of Lord of the Night.
Hello! It really doesn't matter what you or I think. The game confirms what happens in the cutscene so we don't have to theorize. It is described as - "To sustain the curse of immortality, the Ruler of Death relinquishes her demand for the price of "death." The word relinquish means to give up, renounce.
In the cutscene when Capitano asked to remove one of the two rules, she said "the curse of immortality must stand" meaning she abandonned her other rule

@@AfterLandzWhen you look in the archive, the section on quests will contain the dialogue from archon quests you've done. That's where it says Ronova upheld the curse of immortality and negated the rule of death.
But that doesn't really respond to logic. First, and this is a personal question, where is it mentioned that the Shades cannot interfere with the fate of humans, but angels can? Now, following logic, based on the order in which the characters express themselves, we can infer a hierarchy, which would be: Heavenly Principles > Shades > Angels > Archons > Humans. Following this, if the one at the top imposes that they cannot die, then how can an angel decide that someone dies? The angel chooses the accursed one, but that choice should be blocked because it doesn't meet the requirement. If that were the case, the people of Khaenri'ah would have already committed suicide, and that's not the case-they can't. Again, that curse cannot be revoked. The paradox inevitably occurs if the Captain sacrifices their life and mixes it with the angel, but you can't do that from the start. If the Seelies were cursed for much less than that, and if this angel decides to choose someone whom the Heavenly Principles specifically cursed, somehow defying their authority, what would the punishment for that be? The result still works moderately well if you change the type of punishment imposed on Khaenri'ah, but it also doesn’t seem logical to me that it was Ronova’s only option, rather to forsake the curse or the rule. Then again, that one comes from above shade and angel, both of them shouldnt be able to decide that.
honestly speaking, the lore timeline is now completely messed up and doesn't makes any sense anymore whatsoever, especially how it's explained in the video. 1. previously, it was said that the primordial one fought the dragons and that the heavenly principles are something else than the primordial one. But here, it is said that the heavenly principles+shades fought the dragons. 2. it is entirely impossible and implausible that the heavenly principles created the leylines BEFORE defeating the dragons, because teyvat was still under their control until the fight, so it's impossible for the leylines to get shattered during the fight. Also, the video didn't give an explanation to the question in the title, because there is no information as to what ronova's "requirements" are at all and why capitano meets them in the first place.
@@nonamepasserbya6658 that's what i remembered too, but that is not the video makers fault, but the fault of the genshin writers. Because the game itself contradicts it's lore by telling us that the leylines in natlan got damaged during the fight with the dragons.

Here my take into this, the rules of the world is like literal from the sound of it. Like it literally dictate even beyond just this is like some government rules but the literal fabrics of the world. in our world there something that scientists tries to achieve called the theory of everything, how molecules become molecules and how those that made molecules becomes galaxies. What I am trying to say, the deity who created Teyvat or set the rules for Teyvat literally build them from the ground up, They define how something should take shape, They define what things that could take shape in the world, even how it could be interacted with. Like a literal god who have a book where They define the world that They have created using this book. Down to the very physics that is why everything require elemental energy, heck if we to bring our phones there I doubt it would work properly. But I dont think the whole of Teyvat is like the entirety of the universe, but I think it was taken from a bigger part and being put inside an egg like some theorist say. From there the deity who created the world fashion it to their liking, even setting up rule for the things that I said, it become a heaven a paradise if you will. But the larger universe still exist, where it own rules applies, I mean They take on a concept that already exist on a much more smaller scale which means the materials literally came from outside and along with it comes it own original rules, which become the weak spots that the Abyss tries to take advantage off
It's mistranslation. Rules of the World = Heavenly Principles. And Natlan becomes a weak spot not due to the rules but because the war between Phanes and Nibelung completely destroyed Natlan's leylines thus Ronova was sent to make the Night Kingdom as a replacement
She didn’t forsake any rule. Capitano’s body is immortal, but he rules over the night kingdom and thus is technically dead since he’s in the land of death. Your conclusion is wrong
even if she doesn't care to go beyond her capacity and anger the heavenly principal again, the value of capitano carrying innumerable souls should be at least equal to 1 archon, and it fulfilled ronova's requirement, so she can't refuse it by her own law
I was "fckkk that is damn badass move" After seing ronova doesn't have a choice but to let captain win. He was such a chad for pulling reverse uno card. My respect to him
It's a nice and brief analysis. However, I find the following discrepancies: 1. (02:11) “Ronova's sins”: According to the video, Ronova's involvement interfered with humanity's fate, hence sinning against the Heavenly Principles. However, what we know is that the Shades prefer to remain unknown, in the shadows. Ronova's act of reparation and love displeased the Heavenly Principles because she overstepped her authorities as a Shade. Apparently, the Shades cannot intervene for humanity’s sake no matter what danger people may face. Therefore, the more accurate conclusion would be that the Shades were not supposed to be involved with humanity so as not to interfere with their affairs entirely. That includes, but is not limited to, fate. To be fair, Ronova could be seen as interfering with fate in helping Natlan. But interfering with fate happens all the time in the world of Teyvat, and the curse of immortality is a good example of that. I think fate talk is best reserved for specific situations that involve characters who are present, not gods who are not supposed to be seen or known in the first place. So, let’s agree, Ronova making herself known was not supposed to happen, but is not something as defying as changing fate itself unless we consider what actions she carried out and their implications. Furthermore, Ronova's involvement in humanity's affairs in Natlan has been analyzed to have 3 specific sins committed. I believe the order in which Ronova got involved (since it is not clear enough from the lore) was as follows: - Ronova (with Yohualtecuhtin) created the Night Kingdom. - Ronova showed Xbalanque a terrifying vision of Natlan’s unfortunate future fighting the Abyss. - Ronova helped Xbalanque establish the rules of Natlan, including ascension of future Pyro Archons to archonhood - Ronova had the aforementioned rules written into the Night Kingdom. - Ronova helped Xbalanque with her power. I stand corrected as to the order in chich it took place. Considering that both Orobashi and Watatsumi as a whole were found guilty of four counts of profanity and eight counts of deceiving living souls, how many counts are the above actions? Three? I just think there is no need to call them three sins. Just classify Ronova’s involvement in general as a sin or error, because it all happened in one era. Her appearance now is only because of her past deal with Xbalanque that was yet to be fulfilled. 2. (04:29) “Yohualtecuhtin, the one to kill the Pyro Archon”: I see no need to establish this, because it’s not like there were plenty of other options. Although I would have loved to see Ronova in her humanoid form or otherwise coming to take the Pyro Archon’s life, I don’t think Ronova cares to come over to Teyvat herself. She only left that massive six-eyed rift to watch over Teyvat which she couldn’t care less about. It’s just like Alice talking to us through a lamp. Besides, there are plenty of ways to kill someone, and sometimes the manner of death matters. Like hilichurls for example, like Caribert, whom the Abyss sibling says was cursed by the gods. I just do not see the need to make this point. The Lord of the Night was already there to take Mavuika’s soul. 3. (04:51) The role of Yohualtecuhtin with regard to Natlan and Ronova’s deal with Xbalanque: First, the deal was between Xbalanque and the Ruler of Death, not Xbalanque and the Lord of the Night. Therefore, when Ronova left, Xbalanque was left to implement the details of the deal as he saw fit. It was Xbalanque who came up with the rules and the details. The Ruler of Death only had them established in the Night Kingdom and Yohualtecuhtin would facilitate them. That is how he got the Lord of the Night to start on Ancient Names, beginning with his own, “Kiongozi.” Secondly, Yohualtecuhtin’s role was as far as ley lines (or the Night Kingdom) were concerned. That is why she had to work with Pyro Archons and the Wayob to facilitate the details pertaining to the deal, such as Ancient Names, and ascension to archonhood. Thirdly, the Lord of the Night was only carrying out her duty as required of her. She was an Angel who chose to save Natlan’s ley lines through the source mechanism. Humanity needed her and she responded with the other seelies rallying to her side. Allow me to explain with this example: It’s like two kings who make a treaty with each other. The details of that treaty are talked about by the kings and written and enforced by their underlings/subjects, but the treaty is not between the underlings and the kings, just the kings alone. If one king dies, his underlings do not become part of the treaty in the same capacity as the king. The underlings do not come up with new details for the treaty because they have no right to do so. 4. (06:07) “...she replaced the Pyro Archon’s death with Capitano’s”: Now this is inaccurate. The Lord of the Night was first and foremost an Angel, or Seelie. An Angel’s primary duty was to serve humanity and put their demands first no matter the human being. Ronova’s deal with Xbalanque required a price to be paid upon the use of her power, a price equal to the value of life of the Pyro Archon. Capitano met Ronova’s criteria and his death would have had a kinder and fairer outcome to the Natlanese than Mavuika’s death. Therefore, despite the fact that Ronova was ready to see Mavuika die, Yohualtecuhtin prioritized humanity’s demands out of her duty as an Angel. It was not because the details of the deal were up to her. Ronova couldn’t care less about humanity. But the Angel spoke up. When Ronova said that nothing could be done because such was the duty of an Angel, she meant that not even she herself had the authority to overrule or reject the suggestion of an Angel who was faithfully carrying out her duty. So, in short, there are two reasons why Ronova could not say no to Capitano being Mavuika’s substitute: - The one presenting Capitano as a substitute to fulfil the price of death was an Angel and she was doing so in her line of duty as an Angel - Capitano’s life was found to be of equal value to that of Mavuika 5. (06:38) “Capitano already meets her conditions...” Capitano met Ronova’s requirements, not Yohualtecuhtin’s. Yohualtecuhtin was more like an agent in this respect. It’s just that the Natlanese worship her and call her ‘lord.’ 6. (06:45) “At this point, Mavuika’s fate had been changed and it no longer pointed to her imminent death.”: What a discrepancy. If Mavuika’s fate was changed so that it no longer pointed to her death, then why did Citlali come to bother us during our celebratory parade? She came to tell us how Mavuika’s fate had not changed. Remember, Yohualtecuhtin had already come to an agreement with Capitano for the sake of countless lost souls and Natlan’s future in version 5.1. This is version 5.3. In terms of game time, there is a space of at least three days between the agreement between the Lord of the Night and Capitano, and the ceremony for Mavuika’s imminent death. That was plenty of time for Mavuika’s fate to have changed, if it depended on Yohualtecuhtin’s choice of Capitano. But that is not the case, is it? Unless we put it this way to justify what the video says: since Yohualtecuhtin had agreed with Capitano already, when Capitano finally showed up before Ronova and Yohualtecuhtin to be Mavuika’s substitute, Mavuika’s fate changed. That would be more accurate as far as Citlali’s words are concerned, so that Ronova would then have to make a choice whether to interfere with Mavuika’s fate. But that would not add up, since the video is making Yohualtecuhtin out to be someone that could change Mavuika’s fate through her choice of Capitano. The truth is, Mavuika’s fate was always pointing toward death up to the moment Ronova accepted Capitano’s death instead of Mavuika’s. It was not about interfering with anyone’s fate. The Lord of the Night had the liberty to choose Capitano simply because his death would fulfil Ronova’s rule of death and Capitano’s life was of equal value to that of the Pyro Archon, and also because it better served humanity than Mavuika’s death. In any case, what would happen if Capitano did not meet the requirements of the Ruler of Death? Would Ronova just let it go and not have Mavuika die, all for the sake of not interfering with someone’s fate? It does not make any sense. 7. (08:12) “And as per Yohualtecuhtin’s new deal with Capitano, Ronova merges his immortal life force with hers”: May I ask where it is mentioned that Ronova was the one who did the merging of Capitano’s life force with Yohualtecuhtin’s? It is not mentioned in the quest. What is actually mentioned is this: “The curse of immortality must stand. Use it to fulfill your final wish.” That does not sound like someone asking Capitano to take a seat so that she (Ronova) could get his soul out of his body to merge it with Yohualtecuhtin. And why not say: “And as per Yohualtecuhtin’s new deal with Capitano, Yohualtecuhtin merges his immortal life force with hers” - wait, was that a typo? Because you had already said that Yohualtecuhtin was the one doing the life extraction... Anyway, that’s some of the discrepancies I observed in the video. Hope this helps.
A lot of people are confused about the options Capitano forced Ronova to choose between. Capitano merging with the Lord of the Night isn't one of them. That's the metaphorical gun he's pointing at Ronova to make a choice, and it's something he's going to do regardless of which option Ronova chooses. The choice Ronova has to make is which rule of death she'll retract to avoid Capitano's merging with the Lord of the Night becoming a paradox. i.e. There's nothing for Ronova to say no to.
She can just force him to unmerge. If he still try to merge then HP themselves will get involved and at that point it's no longer her problem. She just let him merge because it's less work for her + still not her problem cause HP will just forcefully remove Cap if necessary
In my perspective the immortality of Capitano still resides in his body and of course the lord of the night as well since both have been merged, however though his body may be immortal but it is now just an empty husk without a soul. Since Ronova said "the curse of immortality must stand, use it to fullfil your final wish". She didn't directly release the restrictions of immortality from Capitano's body but the souls of all natlanese and kheanrians were dispersed now resting peacefully in the ley lines
The Natlan Ignition teaser shows the characters refer to the pilgrimage as the “Tournament” (Which its called after Mavuika SQ) So maybe Natlans just getting started and Capitano returns for the Tournament somehow, “I say as they drag me back to the hospital”
As much as ppl say that Capitano will return is pure cope it's an undeniable fact that there is a long list that points toward his return in the future
@@Schinak 1.- Arguments based on in-game data and content: 1.1.- Capitano has an "avatar" character file, as opposed to, for example, the "monster" file Signora had - this would indicate playability. The entire file name is Avatar_Male_Sword_IlCapitano, whereas Signora's was Cs_Monster_LaSignora. 1.2.- Capitano's sword, since 5.3, also has files that can be found through datamining the game, one of which revealed the sword is named Antumbra, thus sparking the argument that they wouldn't bother to give it a name if it wasn't going to become a playable weapon. 1.3.- Additionally, recently datamined information from 5.3, indicated that Capitano's sword also has a "skillObj" file, which, according to a number of dataminers, has been mostly reserved for playable characters and a handful of enemies, and it would operate akin to Guoba, as in, something that is brought on field by a character's skill. Some have argued that this "skillObj" file could be used to display Capitano's sword in different ways that do not necessarily imply the existence of a playable kit, however, there is a different file titled "sceneObj" that is used for the sword when Capitano sits on the Throne of Primal Fire. 1.4.- Capitano has a character icon, which is usually used in the game's different interfaces, like the Character Archive or the Abyss screen when you're selecting your teams, and has so far, mostly been reserved for playable characters or enemies when these are shown in their own archive as well. Some have correctly pointed out that this icon for Capitano has already been used, during the 5.1 archon quest in the war sequence, however, the complete, square icon, as opposed to the circular one, hasn't so far. Additionally, Capitano's icon is found in the files as "UI_AvatarIcon_IlCapitano", whereas those used for NPC's during the same quest are "UI_NPC_QuestAbyssWar". 1.5.- Continuing with the topic of datamining, Genshin_intel, one of the leakers who has one of the better track records through virtue of mostly leaking datamined information, said the following when leaking information for 5.0: "Il Capitano: to be playable." Some have said this was likely just based on the avatar file name, while others choose to also rely on Genshin_intel's almost impeccable track record and take them for their word. 1.6.- Veering away from datamined content and onto things that are in plain view of every player, we've got the Capitano Emoji from Paimon's Paintings Set 36, that made it onto the game in version 5.2. So far, no non-playable characters have gotten an emoji in the game, only monsters and other creatures like Azhdaha or Sumeru fungi (also excluded in this is Dainsleif, but he is confirmed to be playable by Hoyoverse themselves). 1.7.- So far, four different characters have voicelines titled "About The Captain", and notably, not all of them are harbingers, since Mavuika is one of these four characters. Additionally, there are two voicelines from Mika and Ororon that mention Capitano, and three Character Stories from Mavuika, Mika and Ororon that include mention of him as well. The number of voicelines feels odd to some for a character who wouldn't become playable, and as of version 5.3, none of the Harbingers' "About The Captain" voicelines have been edited or changed to be in past tense, which is a good indication. 1.8.- In addition, Mikhail and Lyudmila, our two Fatui diplomats who have been standing in front of the Goth Grand Hotel for 4 years, were given new dialogue in version 5.3, and what they say about Capitano has a more optimistic tone, compared to the Fair Lady, and the line "Apparently, the Tsaritsa has decided to keep his position as-is..." has given people a good amount of hope. 2.- Arguments based on Hoyoverse promotional material: 2.1.- Capitano, unlike other characters or NPC's who, having also been important to the storyline, has been featured in two version cover arts, 5.0, and 5.3. I went back and looked at every single version cover art, and so far, there have only been two cases of a character showing up on a cover art and having their playability in doubt/unconfirmed, this being Dottore who appeared on the version 3.1 cover art, and of course, Capitano. Other than these two, every single character who has been shown on cover arts has become playable. No humanoid NPC's have shown up on a cover art either, with the exception of Paimon of course. 2.2.- Capitano shows up in the Natlan Ignition Teaser: A Name Forged in Flames, and on the thumbnail for it. This is giving him a lot of visibility and promotion, and, if we look at the previous teaser, Overture Teaser: The Final Feast, for Fontaine, every single character shown in that video eventually became playable. Some have now theorized that the ignition teaser takes place after 5.3, instead of before/during 5.0, potentially lending more credence to the possibility of Capitano "reviving" or becoming playable for some. 2.3.- Some think that, during version 5.0 and 5.3's livestream, the developers gave Capitano more screentime and relevance than what they might give to a character that has no future in the game past the current version. 2.4.- During the version 5.3 livestream, Hoyoverse showed an image teasing 7 characters that they said we would meet in the "next 6 months". Counting these 7 characters, and all the already released Natlan characters since version 5.0, we have a total of 16 characters, which differs from the pattern of 17 characters released per region that has held somewhat strong since Inazuma, thus, people speculate Capitano could be the 17th character. Nonetheless, he doesn't have to release in Natlan to become playable, and, Hoyoverse has broken patterns before, especially in the past few months. 2.5.- In Mavuika's Character Trailer, we see a sun being eclipsed, starting in minute 1:26, and with Capitano's sword being named Antumbra, which means annular eclipse, people have seen this as another tease of Capitano's playability, but it also could be seen as Natlan being eclipsed by the abyss and Mavuika undoing the eclipse with her flames. 2.6.- Not so much related to promotional material, but I'd be remiss to not mention this point: Capitano is a beloved character by a lot of people, and as a lot of people have pointed out, not making him playable would be the very definition of throwing away money. Furthermore, Capitano, a harbinger, has been portrayed as non-antagonistic, heroic, chivalrous, honorable, etc. and has a decent relationship with the Traveler and other important "friendly" characters, further removing the usual barrier people think Harbingers must get over to become playable without some sort of rewrite or redesign. Nonetheless, I also have to mention that Hoyoverse sometimes makes very strange decisions, and has shown that they're not necessarily always going to go for the easiest ways to make money (skins), so this argument hinges more on people's ideas of how Hoyoverse operates.
@@Schinak 3.- Arguments based on interpretations and theories that have stemmed from Chapter V: Act V: Incandescent Ode of Resurrection and previous content: 3.1.- The Jesus parallels theory: A lot of people have theorized that Capitano's constellation on the Fatui wheel is the three nails (this is unconfirmed but highly plausible), which in itself is a direct parallel to Triclavianism and the symbolism used to represent it. Triclavianism is the belief that Jesus was crucified using three nails. At the end of version 5.3's archon quest, three swords, Traveler's, Mavuika's and Capitano's were shown in a similar position to the three nails on the wheel, furthering this theory. The paralells to Jesus have been furthered by Capitano "dying" while saving hundreds of souls in the process, kind of like Jesus died to save humanity. The obvious conclusion to this theory, is Capitano "reviving" after a period of time. Some have speculated this might happen in april or 3 updates from now, if Hoyoverse really wanted to harp on the Jesus parallel. 3.2.- Also along the same line of paralells with the christian faith, during the cutscene where Capitano confronts Ronova, he is shown surrounded by blue butterflies, which, in christian religion symbolize resurrection. 3.3.- Parallels to the Lich King: This one has been used a lot for memes, but it has some substance to it. After the conclusion of 5.3, Capitano remains seated on the Throne of Primal Fire that can be found in Ochkanatlan, surrounded by his ice. In World of Warcraft, the Lich King's soul merged with that of a human, as a result he became dormant on his throne and awakened some time later. The parallel of Capitano, who merges with the Lord of the Night, and then remains seated in a state of stasis on the throne to that of the Lich King is evident, and we know Hoyoverse isn't shy about drawing from other influential videogame franchises for their games. Although somewhat unrelated, others have also noted that Capitano still appears to be breathing when sitting upon the throne, whether this is a quirk in how the character model behaves that Hoyoverse didn't bother to change or whether it actually has story relevance is up in the air though. 3.4.- The Fatui Wheel theory: Based on the Fatui Wheel Hoyoverse released at the start of the game which contains the constelattions of all the harbingers, people have long speculated that this wheel shows the order in which we meet/fight the harbingers, starting with Childe and going counter-clockwise (so far, the order of the wheel has been followed to a tee). In accordance with the wheel, people have now been speculating that we have to meet Columbina first (represented by the crying dove), in order to then meet or fight Capitano as a weekly boss after her (represented by the three nails). This would indicate Capitano will come back only after Columbina. 3.5.- The Blazing Flint Ore theory: After Act V concludes in version 5.3, you can offer Blazing Flint Ore to the Throne of Primal Fire in order to unlock Pyro MC's constellations. As of 5.3, only 5 of 6 Blazing Flint Ore's are obtainable, and, making the link that Flint can spark a fire, and with Capitano sitting on the Throne surrounded/encased in ice, the theory has been proposed that upon offering all 6 Ores we might "thaw" Capitano and release him from his stasis-like state, thus making him available to become playable again.
Something about this video that buggers me more than it's focus is, what is the source of the ley lines having been put in place by the HP? How did the HP establish leylines before winning their war against the dragons if they were the invaders? Why would they do that and risk having this integral piece of infrastructure shattered in the war? I always assumed it just belonged to the dragons before the invaders came, it's the only thing that would make sense given that without leylines, teyvat would just be abyssal goop juice that nobody would be interested to settle in.
@@Gnidel No they don't. Leylines were made by Phanes via the crystalflies. Dragons never care nor need leylines. Those leylines were only made after the war as well
God I loved this quest so much! When the lore lores ❤ and I still havent read this patche's readings I hope the few questions I have still can be answered. That and obviously the final chapter of Little One quest. Pieceing together Natlan lore has been one of the most delightful things Ive done in genshin
I think a big factor was that the Rule of Death was a secret from the Heavenly Principles. Had it been public knowledge she could have contested the issue, but since it's secret she couldn't do anything that would risk bringing it to the attention of the Heavenly Principles. Basically, she would rather undo the rule she made in secret than undo a rule she made publicly, and she would rather avoid making a public scene than do anything that risks a public confrontation with an angel - as that might get reported to her superior and reveal her entire secret.
While "rule" is the term used in-game, I think it's more accurate call death a "price" of using Ronova's powers. She can waive the price if she wants to (or is forced to in this case).
The 4 Shining Shades (an oxymoron) and their management of humanity is like that of a titan trying to build a boat in a bottle. A small bottle, and that boat is Teyvat. One false move and the whole thing collapses (again for like the 56th apocalypse).
Is there anyone capable of punishing the god of death, one of the Four Shining Shades? What about the god of time? In the lore, there is a mention of this god intervening to help humans and even the Electro Archon. Has this god been punished yet? Isn't the Primordial One already in a weakened state?
Heavenly Principles upper echelons like Asmoday can punish her. Not that it matter cause she didn't get punished before. OP of the vid is making stuff up
ronova somehow hates heavenly principle too because she was the goddess of khanriah.. she even after they refused to have any gods loved them but heavenly principle destroyed them.. maybe we will later find that heavenly principle forced ronova to curse them as a punishment.. that's the main reason when capitano showed that much arrogance she didn't even became angry because it was her plan too.. she somehow supported it..
There was no god of khaenri’ah. That was the foundation of the whole nation. Are you implying she was the blood moon to the blood moon dynasty? We would need to know more than the lore currently says, which is that khaenri’ah exists in a place “where the gods’ gaze does not fall”
@@1ruch1 Khaenriah has no gods to rule them, but that doesn't mean higher being can't watch over or go there. HP, all shade and probably all gods respect their decision and no meddling at all from them, only after the cataclysm happen and affect Teyvat, if only its affect Khaenriah only, i doubt even HP care at all
Here’s my theory on the primordial, one and more specifically the precursor the precursor are the creators of all life in the galaxy and the universe as well, and the twins are the last sole surviving precursors because the precursors and the primordial one are one and the same however the when the primordial one and the precursor create the heavenly principles and the precursor planning to give life to humanity, gravely angered the heavenly principles which led them down a genocidal path on killing all the precursor, but as for the precursor fled to the primordial one for their own safety. They were betrayed by the the primordial one hence why they like the idea of having the heavenly principles and they don’t need the precursors anymore hence why we see both aether and lumine the last surviving precursors travel world after world for millennia for years and years were talking billions of years traveling to find a new home that is similar to theirs teyvat but unfortunately, the heavenly principles found them. Because from what we know, we don’t know the backstory of both the travelers because they remain a mystery to this day, but I found a very good theory is that both siblings are the corrupted remains of the precursor, the ancient gods of the universe who created all life in all existence Before the primordial one.
then... why venti can interact with ley line and disperse someones soul on his own (iirc he dispel someones soul on mondstadt... was it his own quest? i cant remember😢😅)
You remember it wrong. He only made an ILLUSION of that guy, not his actual soul. No one can pull souls out of Mare Jivari except for Night WInd Masters like Ororon and Citlali
Small correction near the end. Renova does not cancel the rule of death. She says it will be upheld. Implying he is still immortal, which was the whole point of making the Lord of the night immortal by association.
i hope exercising the powers of lord of the night doesnt require him to just keep sleeping for an eternity.... i hope one day he decides stands up to stretch his back and take a walk 🚶♂ 🤭
i SINCERELY hope this video will give light to those Capitano's fans who wants him to become playable or complained that his significance in the story is not enough.
@Dazaiburger bro the guy is literally suffering from voices inside his heart, the anger he feels because of the cursed/killed innocent, the responsibilty to bring them peace, and somehow you want to know his favorite food?
@@justadegenerate9448 whats wrong with wanting to know more abt a character lol. If anything, it'll make the whole thing sadder To know that he was once just a regular person, yet ended up as this ultimate savior. Also, narrative wise he appeared so little that almost make his role merely a plot device. Esp compared to previous good story telling from childe, scara or arle. Both the 3 of them were so highlughted, and even promotional wise were given so much. Scara alone has had several animations expanding his lore. But for capitano we only get in game cutscenes and not even a single promotional vid. Not even just for the sake of playability but to hype up natlan overall, since he has quite a significant role Like they couldve released an animation abt his meeting w the tsaritsa, how he got placed as the no.1 strongest fatui (was it purely bc he's defended natlan 500 years ago or was there more to it?) Yeah it seemed to me that Ronova didn't really have the authority to say no, besides what would she have done against Capitano, the pyro archon, the 4th descender, an angel, whoever Paimon is, and two decently strong humans. However I don't believe she forsook the rule of requiring death, it seemed to me as though she let him trigger the paradox. Ronova told Capitano to use the curse of immorality, if she forsook the rule of death he wouldn't exactly have been USING it, and Ronova also wouldn't have had to bear witness until the end. Similar to the curse of immortality, I think the rules of death aren't hers to forsake or not, it is just her job to uphold them. I don't think she has the authority to forsake a rule. Triggering the paradox may also have been a better outcome than forsaking the rule because Capitano still would've mergedd with the Lord of the Night and changed the rules of the Ley Lines under Ronova's watch, so if Ronova is going to watch something that will piss off the Heavenly Principles she might as well not break a rule.
1:13 wait but that can’t be right I thought the first pyro sovereign destroyed the ley lines and the first pyro archon (xbalanque who was human) was the one to stop him. Wouldn’t that mean humans needed to be around before this period? Or am I confused
What? She could still just say no to not forsake any of her rules..? It's too far a stretch saying that she will be interfering with humanity by declining Capitano and Yohualtecuhtin's proposal. It's within her right to decline and simply demand Mavuika's death to fulfill her rule without consequences, why would she do otherwise?? Other than that she's such a kind and loving god, I can't think of any logical explanation. So don't even try to twist it. Also, you didn't explain why Capitano's immortal life is still usable to merge with the leylines when supposedly his curse of immortality is removed in order for him to die. Still a paradox.
War against celestia is not in 1000 years ahead in the future (if you want to wait for supposedly the "return of capitano"). In a few years after we visited Khaenriah and Snezhaya, we will streak Cekestia...
He is fully gone, if he break it and leave, the paradox isn't there anymore and Night Kingdom is at risk -------> entire Natlan is at risk -------> Ronova have to dish out an actual punishment now and that is assuming he can even do that (he can't)
@@noobbll They already half-release the design of his face, they *will* pull a Capitano if he's playable. wait, so if heavenly principles is a comer, thats mean abyss is already there with dragons, but the dragons didnt attack nor try to get rid of abyss? so thats mean abyss and dragons are co-exist peacefully right?
no. Remember Apep? She suffered from the forbidden knowledge affliction which is lorewise abyss related. The abyss IS a corroding force period and there is no real peaceful coexistence with it. think of it as similar as Unicron from transformers. In the end, the Heavenly Principles' rules made Ronova a spectator to her own domain. She has no right to force anything or even decline the demands of mortals. As soon as Yohualtecuhtin said there was another, Ronova could do nothing but watch.
I don't know if we should even think anything of that blank anymore, since the hydro gemstone has nothing to do with how the Fontaine archon quest turned out.
Capitano has shown that rules can be broken (hi Trailblazers) and that the havenly principles are flawed Ronova decided to consider Capitano merging with the lord of the night as a death because she probably didn't want to go against the primordial one's orders to curse all of Khaenri'ah with the curse of immortality
i wonder how heavenly principles deal with disobedience? i wonder if she always deals with it or if she has a right hand entity that acts as an executioner?
does rewriting the ley lines (by capitano and lord of the night) still wont fixed natlan's weak ley lines that are the cause of descender and ancient dragons war? since lord of the night became immortal thanks to capitano's "sacrifice", does it mean that she can rewrite the ley lines multiple times whenever abyssal corruption appear in the ley lines? before, lord of the night said that if she will died if she try to rewrite the ley lines to fix it from abyssal corruption. but the abyss can still invade them in the future
i haven't watched the full video but heres a theory i thought of,if u have been living for thousands of years ur ought to be bored, so u just let ppl on a sub plane do interesting stuff with a mere fraction of ur power and u enjoy watching what they do with it,i mean if i were at that level if also do goofy ahh stuff, like they don't even have advanced science/something to think about for or entertainment that can be brought anywhere
CMIIW, but from what I know, there's a mistranslation: the actual price was the destruction of Natlan, and Mavuika's death carried the same value. So, the sacrifice was never fixed on Mavuika, it was about the value, making it replaceable. Otherwise, Ronova could say no to Capitano's sacrifice.
I wonder what is the requirement equally as Mavuika that can be executable. If it's because of power then what Ronova uses that power for? I don't think she's there just to witness death, she might wanted to make sure Capitato's death could use as advantage for her other purposes. Copium she might interfere fate indirectly to give Capitano a second life since she still hold love for humanity
Her requirement is (anyone of equal value). You can check CN because it's more accurate. The simplest way to explain it is Mavuika is 1 pound of gold and Ronova want something that can be equal in value like a Porsche or sth
Nice video. I finally understood the whole paradox thing but, there’s still a question I need answered. How is capitano’s soul weight equivalent to mavuika’s? I mean what are the criteria that made the lord of the night to rate the 2 souls the same?
I don't think that's entirely right 1) Mavuika's fate cannot change due to either the Captain's or Yohualtechuhtin's actions. The entire point of Descenders, that they are the only ones to be able to change fate, and neither of the above are Descenders. Or to be precise, there is one unknown one. The angels are brought here, so it only leaves the Captain, but he's supposed to be from Khaenri'ah, and even though I don't think he was explicitly called Khaenri'ahn, his depiction never suggested otherwise (other than the amount of power he has) I do think that there is somewhat of a plot hole here, as we know from Citlali, that even after the Traveler's actions, death is still in Mavuika's fate, and the Traveler did not really do anything after that. The explanation to keep the lore in tact is one of the following - Ronova's rules are a loophole to this where she can change fate (as an extension to the 1st descender ~ Heavenly Principles), and not count the Captain's action as the cause to the change of fate, because it is Ronova who decides in the end what rules to hold up. (but also not being punished, because she had effectively no option not to change fate, and went with upholding the most rules) - The more likely one, which is just a misunderstanding on what it meant for the rule of death to be in Mavuika's fate. It did happen, she was there, and also part of the decision regarding whose death it was going to be. They did mention that the price did not necessarily have to be her. meaning that her fate was never changed, just played out in details that Citlali could not see - As far as I can remember, technically we don't know if Citlali's visions are about fate, or have blind spots for powerful-enough individuals outside of Descenders. Her ability is not related to the stars like Mona's, where Astrology in Genshin is effectively canonically working due to the fake sky which describes or binds the fates of non-Descenders. 2) Ronova does not cancel the rule of death. The entire sitting on the throne thing is there to signify that the Captain is not entirely gone. It is not a corpse on the throne, and what remains doesn't remain due to the merging. It is the manifestation of the paradox Ronova allowed by upholding everything.
If you're feeling burnout, take a break man! I wouldn't want to lose another lore dropper like Ashikai for whom she said is taking a breaking after being swamped with lores that she can barely keep up with all 3 Hoyo games.

@@harshit.53 That equal value probably comes from the souls he's harboring, and his rank among the Fatui Harbingers.
I find it so strange why HP don't want the Shades to help humanity when Ronova helping Natlan is necessary to defend themselves from the Abyss.
They can help a bit but not interfere too much to let Vision bearers grow and ascend to Celestia
I still have a problem with it, as it requires interpretation to arrive at and I feel like this kind of thing should be spelled out in canon or "word of god."
But I have another challenge to this interpretation.
Then she said the curse of immortality must stand, which means she revoked the rule of death.

it is intersting how the Curse of Imortallity is considered as "Using Ronova's Power" since that was likely the condition for her desired death.
Simple
Whatever Capitano is doing is Fate
Shades don’t have any authority to interfere with the fate
Yohua is an angel , guardian of humanity so she has the authority than Ronova here
I think instead of Yohualtecuhtin "choosing" another human with equal value, it should be Yohua bending the rule for a little bit, making Capitano the "Pyro Archon" because he "wins" against Mavuika, and shows Ronova he wield the Pyro Gnosis. "After all, the Gnosis symbolize that person is the Archon". As "Pyro Archon", Capitano have to be the one who got sacrificed. And the rest is the same
This way the rule are clear and don't cause confusion, but rather cleverly dodging around the rule just like Hydro Archon's death
Although this need a bit of adjustment for the AQ.

0:55 I don't know why but i always thought that Natlan's ley lines were destroyed during Khanriah cataclysm...can someone give a reference about this
In a conversation with Yohualtecuhtin Mavuika talks about how the First Descender fought the elemental dragons, and during that fight, they destroyed a "corner of the world", which, in this case, is Natlan. (Something along these lines at the very least)
In addition to what the other person said, the rules of Natlan and the night kingdom were created during the time of Xbalanque in the archon war. That means the ley lines were destroyed before then because the night kingdom was created as a replacement for the ley lines.
@@LeVasTiaN but the dragons fought the PO twice. presumably the ley lines were damaged in the 2nd war.
But some have said otherwise
About the cataclysm, it just found Natlan's ley lines as deteriorated as they were and made it worse such that Natlan would only last for a period of 500 years before its utter destruction by the Abyss. This is what guided Mavuika to make a 500-year plan.
If this had been explained, the story would've been better
Hoyo manages to do mega yap archon quests but forgets to explain things when they matter
True😭😭😭 a lot of people misunderstood that Capitano is dead like Signora, but it completely different.
@@TruthHurts36 tbh, even though we still have a lot of yap to process through, the thing where he's not dead is just a problem of the players being too fixated on something. LOTN herself already told us that she's just going to combine herself with Capitano, it's just that Mavuika kept speaking about him finally being free from life and saying that he made a big sacrifice made them feel that he's gone forever. Idk if it was a translation mistake or they're purposefully making it sound like he's dead though.
@@TruthHurts36So how did he die?

@flyingcow5235 That's what I was thinking. I hope well for Capitano.
so archon's have demon names and now we've got the angels...uhuh >.> who is the good and who is the bad guy?
Thanks for the video! It clears things up for me :)
However, from how I understood the story, I don't agree that Ronova cancelled her rule of death.
It is described as -
"To sustain the curse of immortality, the Ruler of Death relinquishes her demand for the price of "death."
The word relinquish means to give up, renounce.
@@CatWithBlueHat Wow I didn't know it was confirmed, that does saves some theorizing haha
Were those words in the archon quest itself?
In the cutscene when Capitano asked to remove one of the two rules, she said "the curse of immortality must stand" meaning she abandonned her other rule
This video maker is basing all her "theories" on mistranslation. In CN, Ronova only demands a "death" of equal value. It doesn't have to be 100% Yohuatecutin or Mavuika. Mavuika just have to be the one signed off on those deaths as she's the one "getting punished".
Refer back to how she told Xbalanque that "he takes all the blame". Heavenly Principles might get mad at her but nothing suggest that she has to be punished as long as the end of the deal is fufilled. Think how in Undertale, 1 human soul = all monster souls, thats the actual stipulation of the deal. Mavuika was never "fated to die" herself either. Citlali only said it "points to Death" aka Ronova will ask for a price.
So no, under all circumstances she can just say lol no and reject Capitano. She only was ok with it because she can't be bothered and "it's his problem now"
And yes, just like what you said, she ISN'T defying HP, Capitano is so she don't have to be held responsible. She accept because that is no longer her problem anymore + she can just blame Cap now
@@AfterLandzWhen you look in the archive, the section on quests will contain the dialogue from archon quests you've done. That's where it says Ronova upheld the curse of immortality and negated the rule of death.
As a person who like to fast tap dialogues, THANK YOU SO MUCH
finally i can undersatand! i love u man😘. it mean that ronova is not really that bad like what i thought
This video title's main point starts at 6:27,
The content from the start of the video is not important if u read text in-game. which is skipable
The video maker is making up headcannons. Phanes is the 1st and he made leylines AFTER Nibelung's defeat

However, I find the following discrepancies:
1. (02:11) “Ronova's sins”:
According to the video, Ronova's involvement interfered with humanity's fate, hence sinning against the Heavenly Principles.
I believe the order in which Ronova got involved (since it is not clear enough from the lore) was as follows:
- Ronova (with Yohualtecuhtin) created the Night Kingdom.
- Ronova showed Xbalanque a terrifying vision of Natlan’s unfortunate future fighting the Abyss.
- Ronova helped Xbalanque establish the rules of Natlan, including ascension of future Pyro Archons to archonhood
- Ronova had the aforementioned rules written into the Night Kingdom.
2. (04:29) “Yohualtecuhtin, the one to kill the Pyro Archon”:
I see no need to establish this, because it’s not like there were plenty of other options.
3. (04:51) The role of Yohualtecuhtin with regard to Natlan and Ronova’s deal with Xbalanque:
First, the deal was between Xbalanque and the Ruler of Death, not Xbalanque and the Lord of the Night. Therefore, when Ronova left, Xbalanque was left to implement the details of the deal as he saw fit. It was Xbalanque who came up with the rules and the details. The Ruler of Death only had them established in the Night Kingdom and Yohualtecuhtin would facilitate them. That is how he got the Lord of the Night to start on Ancient Names, beginning with his own, “Kiongozi.”
Secondly, Yohualtecuhtin’s role was as far as ley lines (or the Night Kingdom) were concerned.
4. (06:07) “...she replaced the Pyro Archon’s death with Capitano’s”:
Now this is inaccurate.
So, in short, there are two reasons why Ronova could not say no to Capitano being Mavuika’s substitute:
- The one presenting Capitano as a substitute to fulfil the price of death was an Angel and she was doing so in her line of duty as an Angel
- Capitano’s life was found to be of equal value to that of Mavuika
5. (06:38) “Capitano already meets her conditions...”
Capitano met Ronova’s requirements, not Yohualtecuhtin’s. Yohualtecuhtin was more like an agent in this respect. It’s just that the Natlanese worship her and call her ‘lord.’
6. (06:45) “At this point, Mavuika’s fate had been changed and it no longer pointed to her imminent death.”:
What a discrepancy.
7. (08:12) “And as per Yohualtecuhtin’s new deal with Capitano, Ronova merges his immortal life force with hers”:
May I ask where it is mentioned that Ronova was the one who did the merging of Capitano’s life force with Yohualtecuhtin’s?

@@Schinak 1.- Arguments based on in-game data and content:
1.1.- Capitano has an "avatar" character file, as opposed to, for example, the "monster" file Signora had - this would indicate playability.
2.- Arguments based on Hoyoverse promotional material:
2.1.- Capitano, unlike other characters or NPC's who, having also been important to the storyline, has been featured in two version cover arts, 5.0, and 5.3.
@@Schinak 3.- Arguments based on interpretations and theories that have stemmed from Chapter V: Act V: Incandescent Ode of Resurrection and previous content:
3.1.- The Jesus parallels theory: A lot of people have theorized that Capitano's constellation on the Fatui wheel is the three nails (this is unconfirmed but highly plausible), which in itself is a direct parallel to Triclavianism and the symbolism used to represent it.
If ronova was the crimson moon she also interfered there
Something about this video that buggers me more than it's focus is, what is the source of the ley lines having been put in place by the HP? How did the HP establish leylines before winning their war against the dragons if they were the invaders? Why would they do that and risk having this integral piece of infrastructure shattered in the war?
I always assumed it just belonged to the dragons before the invaders came, it's the only thing that would make sense given that without leylines, teyvat would just be abyssal goop juice that nobody would be interested to settle in.
Dragons had technology to weave ley lines for a reason.
@@Gnidel No they don't. Leylines were made by Phanes via the crystalflies. Dragons never care nor need leylines. Those leylines were only made after the war as well
Ahh i see i was always wondering why ronova didn't just say NO to capitano but i do now thanks for explaining ❤
God I loved this quest so much! When the lore lores ❤ and I still havent read this patche's readings I hope the few questions I have still can be answered. That and obviously the final chapter of Little One quest. Pieceing together Natlan lore has been one of the most delightful things Ive done in genshin
Thanks I was wondering the same question. Now I get the answer
At this stage, Capitano will not definitely become playable
Mikuryu saves the day! Thanks for the Primocode at the end of video!!
I will say it again: Big brain capiTHANOS!
Thanks, Cyno.
Seems like the plot is slowly building towards the ultimate finale... i am so hyped for shnezhnaya and khaenriah
@@Bliss467check out catwithbluehats previous video it talked about how ronova could be the moon in perinheri and the god looking over khanreiah
@ yes, _could_ be
@@1ruch1 Khaenriah has no gods to rule them, but that doesn't mean higher being can't watch over or go there.
HP, all shade and probably all gods respect their decision and no meddling at all from them, only after the cataclysm happen and affect Teyvat, if only its affect Khaenriah only, i doubt even HP care at all
Well fought my lord!
Yohualtecuhtin is such a wingladies👍🏼
And thanks to Shining Shades for helping build teyvat leylines!
@@nonamepasserbya6658 i see
thanks to the lord of the night capitano was able to pull up a plan such as this
Small correction near the end. Renova does not cancel the rule of death. She says it will be upheld. Implying he is still immortal, which was the whole point of making the Lord of the night immortal by association.
There must always be.....a Lich King....
i hope exercising the powers of lord of the night doesnt require him to just keep sleeping for an eternity.... i hope one day he decides stands up to stretch his back and take a walk 🚶♂ 🤭
i SINCERELY hope this video will give light to those Capitano's fans who wants him to become playable or complained that his significance in the story is not enough.
His significance in story is really great but his own chara stories are pretty low compared to other harbingers
If anything, it'll make the whole thing sadder
To know that he was once just a regular person, yet ended up as this ultimate savior.
Not even just for the sake of playability but to hype up natlan overall, since he has quite a significant role
Like they couldve released an animation abt his meeting w the tsaritsa, how he got placed as the no.1 strongest fatui (was it purely bc he's defended natlan 500 years ago or was there more to it?)
His backstort felt like a summary and not a proper explanation
@@justadegenerate9448No, i want to know why he chose to become a tool, why is he alright with modifying his heart, why did he join the harbingers, how did he join the harbingers, what his new motivations and sense of justice and why is it different from his old self, Thrain, how does it truly feel like having those souls inside him, what does he hear, is he still a human or is he a puppet ever since he modified his heart, why does his ice has black tinges to it
It's not enough, the story they shown for him is not enough and it's not any better than Signora's, and i hope he's not treated like signora by leaving his story only in artifacts and never build any sort of after story for him when he had a very significant impact in Natlan
If they answered those, ONLY THEN i want to know what his favorite food is.
@@justadegenerate9448 bro say all u want but they did really dirty in this aq too little lore compared to other harbingers when he's the no.1 fatui harbinger...we don't know most of his past...how did he join the fatui? Did he have a family when he was in khaenriah? What he was before becoming a sentinel knight? Atleast a glimpse of him fighting in natlan during 500 yrs ago?? Nada nothing they did a cheesy scene of him at the end with 23 lines and that's over...it's really bad character writing imo
Yeah it seemed to me that Ronova didn't really have the authority to say no, besides what would she have done against Capitano, the pyro archon, the 4th descender, an angel, whoever Paimon is, and two decently strong humans.
So this confirms Capitano isn't fully dead, he became one with they lay lines and having a very long sleep like the Lich King
@@nonamepasserbya6658by the design alone he doesn't look playable unless they pull wanderer
@@nonamepasserbya6658 The Paradox didnt happen, and capitano already changed the rules of the night kingdom.
Unicron is a devourer of worlds and the prime evil in the transformers franchise but in this pursuit he still subjugated minions to help him. ANd a similar thing has happened in genshin with the lectors and other abyss monsters
It isn’t they co-exist
But there is a barrier between teyvat and abyss prevent abyss enter teyvat and the dragon make sure abyss can’t do anything to broke the barrier or bypass it by somehow
But the war between dragon and phane, and celestial and the 3 descender make teyvat unstable
Due to that, abyss able to penetrate teyvat
Celestial create the leyline like a đefense system support teyvat after it become unstable because these war
Oh I get it, so he's not really dead but is part of another entity now. He exists in a different form.
Capitano is a partial Angel now.
In the end, the Heavenly Principles' rules made Ronova a spectator to her own domain. She has no right to force anything or even decline the demands of mortals. As soon as Yohualtecuhtin said there was another, Ronova could do nothing but watch.
Ones who break their contracts shall suffer from the Wrath of the Rock
are the archons the new angles in the eyes of the heavens as they guild and serve humanity well the angels lost their forms becoming seeles
Since the blacked out part of the Pyro gemstone hasn't got reveled can you make a video about that?
probably in the continuation of archon quest cuz she still has gnosis
I don't know if we should even think anything of that blank anymore, since the hydro gemstone has nothing to do with how the Fontaine archon quest turned out.
@@HighLevelPlayer That reminds me of how Venti told us to stay away from Furina yet praise her later on. Fontaine had a blatant rewrite
The black out part is in Abyss language. It isn't just a few letters, might be a whole phrase
We do know that everyone who says "▉▉" in their statements in game is influenced by the Abyss. That much I can tell you.
Rest in peace, Capitano.
The fact Seele look like sea angels (a fish irl) is some foreshadowing.
He was about to divide by 0.
Capitano has shown that rules can be broken (hi Trailblazers) and that the havenly principles are flawed
Ronova decided to consider Capitano merging with the lord of the night as a death because she probably didn't want to go against the primordial one's orders to curse all of Khaenri'ah with the curse of immortality
Ronovas also the crimson moon‘s dynasties God that they worshiped
i wonder how heavenly principles deal with disobedience? i wonder if she always deals with it or if she has a right hand entity that acts as an executioner?
Xiao is the heavenly principle!?
Oceanids are angels?!
does rewriting the ley lines (by capitano and lord of the night) still wont fixed natlan's weak ley lines that are the cause of descender and ancient dragons war?
since lord of the night became immortal thanks to capitano's "sacrifice", does it mean that she can rewrite the ley lines multiple times whenever abyssal corruption appear in the ley lines?
before, lord of the night said that if she will died if she try to rewrite the ley lines to fix it from abyssal corruption. but the abyss can still invade them in the future
i haven't watched the full video but heres a theory i thought of,if u have been living for thousands of years ur ought to be bored, so u just let ppl on a sub plane do interesting stuff with a mere fraction of ur power and u enjoy watching what they do with it,i mean if i were at that level if also do goofy ahh stuff, like they don't even have advanced science/something to think about for or entertainment that can be brought anywhere
Capitano almost took out Dain and Pierro with his plan XD
Paimon might be an angel 😇
Angel of Istaroth
I don't think that's the case to be honest. If that were the case, it'd be very strange that Yohualtecuhin wouldn't recognise her as one of her own.
Genshin angels are more biblically accurate than Paimon.
Nice video. I finally understood the whole paradox thing but, there’s still a question I need answered. How is capitano’s soul weight equivalent to mavuika’s? I mean what are the criteria that made the lord of the night to rate the 2 souls the same?
I don't think that's entirely right
1) Mavuika's fate cannot change due to either the Captain's or Yohualtechuhtin's actions.
The entire point of Descenders, that they are the only ones to be able to change fate, and neither of the above are Descenders. Or to be precise, there is one unknown one. The angels are brought here, so it only leaves the Captain, but he's supposed to be from Khaenri'ah, and even though I don't think he was explicitly called Khaenri'ahn, his depiction never suggested otherwise (other than the amount of power he has)
I do think that there is somewhat of a plot hole here, as we know from Citlali, that even after the Traveler's actions, death is still in Mavuika's fate, and the Traveler did not really do anything after that.
The explanation to keep the lore in tact is one of the following
- Ronova's rules are a loophole to this where she can change fate (as an extension to the 1st descender ~ Heavenly Principles), and not count the Captain's action as the cause to the change of fate, because it is Ronova who decides in the end what rules to hold up. (but also not being punished, because she had effectively no option not to change fate, and went with upholding the most rules)
- The more likely one, which is just a misunderstanding on what it meant for the rule of death to be in Mavuika's fate. It did happen, she was there, and also part of the decision regarding whose death it was going to be. They did mention that the price did not necessarily have to be her. meaning that her fate was never changed, just played out in details that Citlali could not see
- As far as I can remember, technically we don't know if Citlali's visions are about fate, or have blind spots for powerful-enough individuals outside of Descenders.
