its actually sad that theres a stigna against traditional rural music as being "uncool". props to the likes of coke studio and NFAK on keeping us close to our roots no matter how uncool society tries to make these look.
I agree that they have indeed brought them back but Coke studio has tainted all these pieces by mixing them with pop and other genres. Sufi and folk music in particular have suffered alot from this. They're trying to make it 'cool' by mixing it with non-eastern classical aspects and instruments. The fully eastern aspects that have to be appreciated are stripped away. Unfortunately, it is anything but an appreciation of the art.
