  • I like to try out new designs. At the beginning of the summer I built a foam board version of of a 40” VAS Specter from plans I found on the Flitetest.com forum. Ive been blown away by its performance and this thing quickly became my main-plane. After the wear and tear of a summer of regular flying its ready to rebuild. I made this video in the first week or so of flying it then put it aside till now.
This plane is super stable and surprisingly efficient, 10 - 15 minute flights on an 1800 4cell is not difficult. It has an 8” prop, EMAX GT2215-09 1180KV motor and a 40 amp ESC. On this set up its relatively fast but the planes strength is its wide flight envelope. Rock solid at full speed and full control at low speed with a respectably gentle glide slope plus the thing will not tip stall.
I followed plans from these articles (www.flitetest....) and he references additional threads on fpvlabs.com and wing techniques from the Experimental airlines TH-cam. All in all the build was pretty simple. I used Adams Readi-Board from dollar tree and arrow shafts for the booms and a wing spar.
