This music reminds me when my church and I went on a mission trip to eastern Oklahoma. We worked with the Cherokee nation and helped rebuild some houses that were lost in a fire. I am forever thankful of that beautiful experience.

I will give you an example: years ago we met some people from Fiji and they were natives visiting the US on vacation. They stared at my Dad because they thought he looked just like they did! My Dad's people are from Lousiana but he really did look like the Fijians. heir oral history says they came from East Africa thousands of years ago and set up shop. In the West they denied this up until perhaps twenty years ago. But those with eyes can see what is obvious. Oral history is important as well.
I was having my children listen to chanting and Native American music tonight. They loved it. My ancestors on mom's side are Navajo...once thought to be Cherokee, but through DNA testing it was discovered that it was Navajo. I also have Sub Saharan African, Welsh/English, Danish and Scottish, so a large mix. Pretty crazy how you can not really know anything about this culture or even your heritage and feel it in your soul. I used to practice chanting when I was little and my mom would play it for me, it was just so beautiful and I felt such a deep connection. This music reminds me when my church and I went on a mission trip to eastern Oklahoma. We worked with the Cherokee nation and helped rebuild some houses that were lost in a fire. I am forever thankful of that beautiful experience.

Search for bbc documentary about the Kogi (there are two). They are good. They say "we remember the teaching of the earth and live by it". Our modern society has forgotten this old teachings but they are fundamental. I think we are coming into a time now where those who refuse to remember or relearn will face great difficulty.

I was having my children listen to chanting and Native American music tonight. They loved it. My ancestors on mom's side are Navajo...once thought to be Cherokee, but through DNA testing it was discovered that it was Navajo. I also have Sub Saharan African, Welsh/English, Danish and Scottish, so a large mix. Pretty crazy how you can not really know anything about this culture or even your heritage and feel it in your soul. I used to practice chanting when I was little and my mom would play it for me, it was just so beautiful and I felt such a deep connection. Blessings to all, may we all share and enjoy one another and the Eartj, as it should be and once was.
