  • Max Emilian Verstappen (Dutch pronunciation: [mɑks eːˈmiliɑn vɛrˈstɑpən]; born 30 September 1997) is a Belgian-Dutch[2] racing driver who competes under the Dutch flag in Formula One with Red Bull Racing. Aged 17 years, 166 days, he became the youngest driver to compete in Formula 1 at the 2015 Australian Grand Prix for Scuderia Toro Rosso.[3] He is also the youngest driver to lead a lap during a Formula One Grand Prix, youngest driver to set the fastest lap during a Formula One Grand Prix, youngest driver to score points, youngest driver to secure a podium and youngest Formula One Grand Prix winner in history.
    After spending the entire 2015 season with Toro Rosso, he started his 2016 campaign with the Italian team, before being promoted by Red Bull as a replacement for Daniil Kvyat, who took over his seat at Toro Rosso. He won the 2016 Spanish Grand Prix in his debut race for Red Bull at the age of 18, becoming the youngest-ever winner of a Grand Prix and the first racing under the Dutch flag.[4] He is the son of former Formula One driver Jos Verstappen.
    The Monaco Grand Prix (French: Grand Prix de Monaco) is a Formula One motor race held each year on the Circuit de Monaco. Run since 1929, it is widely considered to be one of the most important and prestigious automobile races in the world and, with the Indianapolis 500 and the 24 Hours of Le Mans, forms the Triple Crown of Motorsport. The circuit has been called "an exceptional location of glamour and prestige".[1]
    The race is held on a narrow course laid out in the streets of Monaco, with many elevation changes and tight corners as well as a tunnel, making it one of the most demanding tracks in Formula One. In spite of the relatively low average speeds, it is a dangerous place to race and often involves the intervention of a safety car. It is the only Grand Prix that does not adhere to the FIA's mandated 305-kilometre (190-mile) minimum race distance

    Apparently, the definition of 'erratic driving' has changed.

    I've been an F1 fan since the mid-80's when I was a kid, only just returning after a few years away, in America, doing other stuff, as well as being quite disillusioned about the sport since Mark Webber was done over by Red Bull.
    Quite a few things have changed, engines, tyre compounds, DRS etc as well as superficial changes like livery and personnel. But one thing hasn't changed a bit and that's a fan's ability to rationalize errors and apportion blame.
    Even though the data showed that Verstappen's claim of brake testing by Grosjean was incorrect, Max fans won't buy it.

    I've seen this so many times but only now I realised Grosjean's weird movement. He jerked very quick to the right then back to the left. I mean different rules for defense at the time I guess, so it was okay and legal. But good thing they made it so you can't do shenanigans under braking soon after. Even though Max was the one doing them mostly, this time it seems it was Grosjean and Max paid for it.

    • @Finkelfunk
      @Finkelfunk 7 ปีที่แล้ว +10

      It's actually a fairly common tactic. If you brake earlier you can get your opponent to slow down a lot, and since F1 cars aren't really built to accelerate from low speeds and you have the advantage of being ahead you can then start to accelerate out of the corner at an unpredictable moment which can gain you valuable seconds, however on Monaco these tactics are always coming with a risk.

      @mumihp 3 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      So true, everyone is blaming Hamilton but people need to remember what Max nick name was, crashstappen. Max tries recklessly, trying to get a head and this is the results. There are many examples all over TH-cam, one of them was with Ricardo. Max has a cheek to say Lewis was driving dangerously. How many crashes has he caused. Hamilton is 36, been racing since he was a kid, experience matters and Max was being aggressive with that move in Silverstone. Fans of both are going to disagree, but the fact is, if the opposite happened, Horner would have said it was a racing incident.
