To everyone who's asking whether or not I'll add it to CTGP: Did you read the description? :P And can I also just say that the reaction to the discovery of Mission Mode has been amazing so far? I'm so surprised so many people are interested in it! And I'm glad, too :)
Yes, although that's something I only learned recently too, the British English translation of Mario Kart Wii only has "Start?" instead. So I only first learned that it's specifically for tournament mode after I saw a video of Mission Mode running on the American build of the game.
This is actually really cool. I always feel bad when I ask a lot of people, but I think I speak for everyone when I say that a working mission mode in CTGP would be awesome (even if glitchy). Either way, you sir, deserve some reward or prize. You have pushed MKWII to a new level.
Have you ever tried to eat a clock? It's very time consuming EDIT: anyways this was VERY cool and I'd like to see how this will go in the future. Could this be in CTGP?!
The timer that rises up super fast may have been intended to measure a total amount of time spent drifting/wheelie-ing as opposed to the raw number of drifts/wheelies. After all, one can wheelie a bunch of times with little effort but trying to keep up wheelies for most of the race could be more difficult.
Maybe If some more time is put into this, mission mode in CTGP could become a thing! I'd really love to see that extra button at the bottom of the menu, and get the MKDS vibe as well!
Amazing work Bean, Chadderz, Atlas, Wexos, and everyone else involved in the developments of reestablishing the long lost Mission Mode. It's amazing how even 9 years on, there's still stuff to discover in this game. And what's even more amazing is that 9 years on there's still an active, interested community for this game. Great work as always, and thanks for sharing your findings.
This looks even more promising than the last Mission Mode video, looking great so far! I wonder how creative we can get with some missions for custom track, I'll wait what the future will bring us. Thanks for sharing this! :)
Absolutely fascinating! It's so incredible to think that this hidden gem has been untouched for so long in a game modded so heavily. Great discovery and work, very interested to see where this goes, many of these missions actually look really fun (item box and sniping, particularly).
1. Add Mission Mode to CTGP 2. Fix The Battle Mode ( And add extra custom battle arenas ) In CTGP. 3. Add Time Trial Leader Boards ( Top 10 ) back to CTGP. 4. Add Competitions back to CTGP ( Also where you can view those leader boards )
This is FRICKIN AWESOME!! MKDS was my first mario kart game, and I really enjoyed the mission mode. Good luck on getting it up and running again and I hope to see it in CTGP soon! Great job!
I'm surprised this channel is still alive with new discoveries even today, I remember watching these videos 6-7 years ago. Looking forward to the possibility of adding this to CTGP :)
You should add these to the CTGP channel as an update. Me and I'm sure a ton of other people would really love to see this implemented sometime in the future!
As someone who has played Mario Kart Wii for years, it blows my mind that there's more unseen fully coded content that still lies within the game files. Especially the Dry Bowser that was seen in the video.
It could mean one of two things: Either your Wii Internet isn't set up correctly, or you didn't verify with our server at startup (it would say "Note: CTWW is disabled" when you click Launch Game if you haven't). Either fix the Internet connection, or set Automatic Updates to On or Verify Only and don't skip it, to sort the problem.
11:00 I noticed this in the last video, but both of these missions that force you to use a certain drift mode have the description for the _other_ one in the bottom-right corner. It seems plausible that this might be related to these two missions having the wrong drift mode for the task it's getting you to perform. Might the buttons have been swapped somehow?
This would have been so cool to have in the game, especially for beginners or casual players! When I first started playing, I didn't want to do online tournaments because I just assumed that everybody would be pros and there'd be no way I could keep up. Didn't even know about tricks or respawn boost until years later and eventually started playing online from there. But something like this would've got me into MKWii and the online community much faster!
mabey a new add to ctgp along with some new tracks but just wanted to say dude good work for all the effort this took you are one amazing youtuber hope to see one day you find all codes and put them together or something like that.
Am I the only one who remembers doing these missions? I remember I was stuck on the first one for some time and the wheely one at 5:44 was frustratingly hard for me to complete
0×0C Wheelies' landmark and textures look like they could make for an interesting new evil lair / boss battle / fan project type of setting! Gotta say, I'm loving these missions! I will definitely look into making Custom Missions later :)
Mario Kart Wii is the Mario Kart I played the hell out of back in the day. This gives it more life :D Also, Im guessing that drifting mission on Delfino Pier is like a Roulette style drift where the number is deliberately scrambled.
While the drifting and wheelie mission code are broken, I think they're rather close to be complete (I'd say you just need to check if the player was already drifting/wheeling on the last frame and increment the counter only they weren't). It looks like the developper said "Ok, I figured out the hard part, now I can show to my boss that it works, time to move on on something else". The fact that going past the counter doesn't trigger the mission finish event seems to reinforce this idea (or did you remove it on purpose?). I guess it's the same thing for the movies : "Okay, I can now assign movies to the different missions, we'll figure out how to place them later". It's interesting to see that the mission mode probably got replaced by the tournament mode, so the marketing deptartment could say "Hey, we're still adding content to the game, go play it!" while everything was planned from even before the game was released, as the similarities between the missions and the tournaments capabilities seems to indicate.
Wow, I hope the limits of the mission mode are enough to re-create all those neat tournaments! I got my Wii super duper late, so I was completely unable to experience any of those neat boss fights. Can't wait to play Mission Mode in CTGPR!
If you do release to CTGP, i recommend you edit the time for some missions. The very first one looked too easy (getting 20 mini turbos on block plaza in over a minute)
Huh. I wonder if these could be implemented into CTGP after being adjusted and tested. Although it has nothing to do with custom tracks (unless edited), it would be pretty neat to see.
I never even knew they planned Mission Mode for Mario Kart Wii. I wonder why they decided to remove it, it was such a fan favorite in the Mario Kart series.
I have a wii and ctgp with homebrew channel, But i can't connect online. Is the Wiimmifi software seperate? if so could you please reply with the link that would be much appreciated
0:31 This needs to be added in a future mario kart game. A VS boss mode. One of you can choose any character they want and they have different abilities they can get from blocks. If The player who's the Boss goes over the finish first, He wins, And the opposite.

I guess mission mode on Mario kart Wii is becoming closer to the light of day. Once fully functional the MKW modders are going to have Fun making mission mode alive once again. Do not give up just yet i have hope that you guys Will be able to make everything functional again
Mission Mode was probably scrapped in favor of the Tournament Mode. Still, it's nice to see what you can do with the game. I wonder if a Giant Wiggler race in Moo Moo Meadows would be possible.
The boss battles (judging from DS) were suppose to have balloons from balloon battles scripted in so you can have 3 hits. (That's if it's actually based on DS)
sweet jesus, this has to be the most amount of cut/unused modes/content ive seen for a game. its too bad they didnt use these. they would have been fun.
I am unable to load it with dolphin emulator. I use the NTSU Iso, and the NTSU Code, but it crashes every time I go into the single player mode. the wiki says you havent tested the NTSU version D:
0x03: Gotta love how the counter glitches out, like showing two "+" using different fonts and writing "Communi", "The con", and "Control". It has to be reading from random RAM addresses...
I think that Nintendo sometimes leaves this stuff in just so people can find it. But that's most likely not the case this time, as some time there's obvious proof stuff was hidden in for the data diggers. But gotta say its pretty cool this stuff is still in the game.

MrBean35000vr It's what made MKDS the best MK game. I'm sad it didn't make it into Wii as well.
MrBean35000vr put this on mission mode
What does that even mean? :P
MrBean35000vr idk ur a genius you can somehow get mission mode into CTGPR
so i'm curious... how do you make custom missions. i can't really code, so plz help :3
Imagine the devs watching this...
You should change the "3, 2, 1, GO" text to "READ THE GODDAMN DESCRIPTION", perhaps.
No
@@harrybest2041 Oh poor little boy.
Kind of disappointing that this never made it into the game. Do you think Nintendo worked on this and then changed it into tournaments?
That's exactly what I think happened.
Yes, although that's something I only learned recently too, the British English translation of Mario Kart Wii only has "Start?" instead. So I only first learned that it's specifically for tournament mode after I saw a video of Mission Mode running on the American build of the game.
Yes, that is the advantage of having an offline only mode, indeed.
Mission mode, is one of the best Mario kart ideas ever, along with tricking, and anti-grav. They need to bring it back in MK9
Mario kart wiis where pretty creative, but I wouldn't call them fun at all. My opinion though.

Gaxx G. You can't always get what you want. Plus, Mr. Bean works very hard each day, so I request that you cut him some slack!
I mean, he wasn't necessarily asking Mr.Bean to make one, I think he was wishing for something Nintendo makes.
Me too!
The drift and wheelie things are probably time-based. You have to spend a certain amount of time drifting/doing wheelies.
It's likely also counting milliseconds but was probably meant to only display seconds.
Yeah
Yoshicraft224 lol your profile pic

That does make sense why it's counting up so fast now that I think of it. Also explains why there's a drifting mission that counts up the same way.
"considering adding Mission Mode to CTGP"
Bean, you and your team of modders are actual gods. We love you!
Holy shit, you revived what might have been the best part of 2009-era MKW. Lord and saviour
