Please be respectful in the comments guys. This video isn’t being monetised and was requested before the news of Ryan’s passing. I wanted to post this to give his fans somewhere to come & celebrate his life by jamming to his music together, that is all. RIP Ryan Siew❤️
I found out Ryan so long ago, 9 years ago on his youtube channel when he covered with 15 years old Killswitch Engage - In Due Time and thinking "This kid is going places, he is nuts!" and then finding Polaris and being blown away by the pure raw power that they had and talent. He is going to be EXTREMELY missed, he was so talented and I am happy he got to share his passion with everybody.
Rip Ryan. This upcoming Inhumane album is going to hit me so hard now. Dude had the best riffs in the game. The Death Of Me was one of my favorite metalcore albums of all time.
Just started the video and can’t appreciate you enough for doing this, Drew. This album really is awesome, but the riffs that Ryan wrote throughout this is some of my fuckin favorites. His live presence is such a glow and contagious, and he was just so talented man. Truly is heartbreaking and devastating news to the community. Love goes out to his family and bandmates ❤️ Now let’s fucking jam
The flow that this album has, specifically frailty, in somnis veritas, and dusk to day, is amazing. Like you can almost feel the dark valley the album shifts to during that part, it slowly eases you into it and you can feel the tone change into something more somber. Then it picks you back up right after so naturally, the rest just carries you up and down.
Lucid is such a masterpiece metalcore song. That lead guitar on the chorus (which is a Ryan’s big signature) and that riff right after the second verse are insane. Insane band they mix everything in a perfect way
I feel like "We'll never be the same" (25:43) by itself hits a lot more now... RIP Ryan. He was one of the guys who got me into metal because of his insane Periphery covers. We miss you, Ryan❤
This is one of my top 3 metalcore albums ever made. I absolutely love this band so incredibly much. I blasted this album all day in memorial to Ryan. He'll be sorely missed
I was never particularly into Polaris, but i was heartbroken when i heard about Ryan (even though i did not really know him). Decided to take a listen to The Mortal Coil, and honestly - incredible album. In Somnus Veritas moved me to tears. RIP Ryan, you will be sorely missed ❤
Back in the day he was one of the first people (despite being the same age as me too) who was able to do such a flawless cover of Periphery's Marigold at such a young age and instantly got me to follow him. Never stopped since than... Then Polaris happened and instantly became one of my favorite bands, and I kind of started seeing some kind of an idol for me in the face of Ryan. Being the same age, both doing guitar stuff and loving music to its fullest but he pushed through harder and went way bigger... It is so sad to see him suddenly go, and I was just about to see them in Germany for the first time before they cancelled last minute... Instead of that this is the first time to realize what the phrase "all my idols are dead" really means... And it hurts... Peace and Love to you mate and to everyone connected to either your art or your soul! Rock on for Eternity! ❤🤘
That's life guys. If I died today, I wouldn't have the internet shook at all. I remember seeing him like 10 years ago, just a young guitarist. Definitely showed plenty of talent. Rest In Power brother
This band was always so special to me, they were my first concert i ever went to here in Adelaide, AUS, and the tickets were only $17. So awesome to follow them on their journey and so heartbroken for them at the same time. I am going through a pretty dark time myself so this video especially is such a therapy for me, it is so good to re-experience this album i haven't listen fully to in a long time with you, so thank you, Drew.
Love the video mate, great work and dont stop what you love. Love the track SONDER my favourite and just seen them in Sydney and was blown away by the guys performance in this time of need, cant thank the guys enough for the effort after what happened. Also glad they are local guys (shire) . Thanks again for the channel and for the content and once again POLARIS thank you.
I remember checking out The Remedy & Lucid then afterwards finding out that this album had dropped. At the moment I had never been so excited to check out an album. I seen them live with my buddy and have to say one of the most energetic insane shows I've ever been too. Ryan was such a talent and was taken from us way too soon. RIP
This is such a massive loss for the metal community. I was alittle late getting into Polaris, but the first time I heard them the guitars instantly hooked me🤘RIP to Ryan, we will all greatly miss you and your talent🙏
Absolutely gutted about the news, Polaris has been with me since the early metalcore days of my life and still are and always will be. Ryan will always be a part of Polaris and a huge influence on the music I love, keep riffing R! ❤ And thank you drew for this beautiful video, much appreciated. Such a masterpiece of an album, always gets me in the mood.
Such sad news! This album completely changed my music taste around 5 years ago and is what got me into Metal music. I never listened to this genre until hearing ‘The Remedy’ on the off chance after leaving TH-cam on in the background whilst working. I couldn’t stop listening to this album for months and is what lead me to discover Wage War, Architects, Northlane, BMTH … RIP Ryan, thank you for the amazing music
The 1-2 conversations I’ve had with Ryan over the years were really informative and fulfilling. We just talked guitars and gear, but he was a really kind dude. I hope he’s found peace.
I never was a fan of Polaris at all, their last album and last track seemed boring to me and while i still understand that it sounded amazing, i wasn't into their stuff really. But this particular album i've never heard before and honestly it sounds amazing. Also it reminded me of recent Hollow Front album, saying that Hollow Front reminded me of Polaris is more correct though. This album seems like a very good grower and damn, i love these clean vocals. RIP Ryan ❤
Man Drew, I was really shock when i knew Ryan was our age. I've been a fan of polaris for so long and "Pray for rain" is a song that change my life and i hold dear to my hearth, overall because of the guitar work. Rest in piece Ryan Siew
I'm reaching out, please take my hand The water's getting higher and I can't understand Why I can't pull you in Do you even care? Do you even want me there?... RIP to Ryan.
This album is an absolute masterpiece! I heard Consume on Triple J and thought I gotta check these guys out. For some stupid reason it was a year later and finally got around to doing just that. This was on constant repeat, start to finish, for the next year. Took less than a week before I bought a 7 string. Ryan's leads are something else, the tone and just how much they add without being over-bearing and needlessly over complicated. A rare album that needs to be listened to just like you did here. It takes you on a journey of riffs, melodic choruses, brutal vocals and an absolute drum masterclass. Relapse is easily their most underrated song IMO Also, you talked over Ryan's solo in Dusk to Day ☹
He was so fucking talented. It's not fair to himself, his family and friends, the band, for us to lose that, especially at such a young age. Rest in Peace Ryan 🕊
Seeing the news broke my heart. I was about to see them for the 4th time last week. I never spoke to Ryan, but have spoken to the other band members a few times after their show, so all the members of Polaris have a special place in my heart. They are so nice and genuine and that made the news much more devastating. Rest in peace, Ryan.
I requested Consume in the stream, i never would have thought u have to do the album reaction with this sad background.. i love their music for so long, Ryan gave us all so much. today i would have see him and the band in Hamburg.. its just so so sad :( RIP Ryan
Such a talented musician and the band as a whole. He’ll be missed so much. On the other hand this album is such a banger and it was their first full album. One of my favorites!
Rest in Peace Ryan. I pray for his family and those he leaves behind here. Polaris will certainly honor him in their upcoming music. Let's support them, guys.
To your point about it growing on you and that they’re acclaimed as a goat metalcore band and coming off Northlane and Thornhill. I can see where it’s still growing on you. I grew up Killswitch, Bullet, All That Remains, Trivium, etc. I came into those bands from some more punk-oriented stuff before that. I think that was the most natural progression for a large chunk of current metalcore fans, and I’m not speaking for everybody nor the band, but Polaris checks all of those boxes for me - in addition to leaning into more modern style metalcore and djenty and/or progressive sounds. I love Thornhill, and the Dark Pool alone has earned them my money for life. I also love bold guitar harmonies from songs like Relapse that remind me so much of what got me into metalcore and huge sing along choruses and shreddy licks, etc. I love this band, and I’m glad to see you finding some enjoyment and respect that you’re coming back to them. If you ever have a chance to catch them live, it’s amazing, and you should do it.
The saddest part is, "In Somnus Veritas" translates to "The Truth In Sleep" from Latin. Which makes it mean that much more. Hearing that hauntingly beautiful opening with the guitar hits way different knowing all of that.
Thank you so much for sharing this. Just what we all needed today. As you said not all of us have friends that we can share this experience with, so being able to listen to this with you as I finish my work is a gift in itself. Much love to you, brother🤘
I always make an effort to go back and listen to bands i previously didnt fuck with, when i first got into metal there were so many bands i love now that i wasnt into It took me a good 4 tries with trivium but now i love them Same with the latest devil wears prada album i didnt care for it and then it became top 3 AOTY for me Your taste changes and evolves and so its nice to revisit things and have a new perspective
I remember finding out about this band wayy back through one of those metalcore playlists and I was like huh this is kinda cool and brushed them off and all I remembered was how it was a music video in a forest and I think some guy was looking for some girl (still dont know the name if the song but after they dropped this record I found out it was one of their older songs). When they released this record I was like ok this actually slaps. I was fortunate enough to see them live in the US when they were touring as an opener for some band (LMTF i think?) and holy shit they went hard as fuck. Whiel Im not a big fan of their newer stufd, i give them props for getting where they are rn. They’re super nice dudes. I truly wish them the best during these trying times and I send them the deepest of condolences 🙏
Only just found out about this happening. I remember watching his videos before Polaris was even a thing and being super jealous of his recording space and his guitars. Crazy news- life is short.
Please be respectful in the comments guys.

This was beautiful mate thank you🖤
So sorry for your loss Jamie❤️
Love u Jamie, take time to grieve, u guys deserve the wordl❤❤
My condolonces
Man it absolutely hurts me to see young talented musicians leave us so soon. Rest In Peace Ryan.
R.I.P. Ryan was one of the greatest musicians of our generation.
RIP Ryan 😔 his legacy will never be forgotten
I still come back to this reaction every few months, my preferred way of listening to this album now - probably my favorite video you’ve done
I found out Ryan so long ago, 9 years ago on his youtube channel when he covered with 15 years old Killswitch Engage - In Due Time and thinking "This kid is going places, he is nuts!" and then finding Polaris and being blown away by the pure raw power that they had and talent. This band has gotten me through a lot of rough times, hopefully now this community can help them through some of their rough times. RIP Ryan❤.

My #1 favorite band, they help me through everything! I hope the heavens gave you a beautiful home, Ryan.
Rest in peace Ryan, man this album has so much meaning and so many memories, truly a devastating day, best wishes to all those close to this legend.

Do you even care?
Do you even want me there?...
RIP to Ryan.
I'm really glad I had the chance to see them live last year, he really shined on stage. He will be missed by many! RIP Ryan❤
Such an amazing guitarist. When you watch their playthroughs, you can tell Ryan is definitely the lead.

RIP Ryan. This and the Gift and Guilt EP is their best work
I saw them live with Architects 2020. He was a great Guitar Player from my view.❤❤❤
I'm so here for this. Was about to play this album again in memory of Ryan, but glad I can share this with you right now
Enjoy bro💜
Much love man. Also, the cheeky Atlantic instrumental while you were reading the band's statement had some ninjas cutting onions at my computer.
I didn't know about the news until I clicked this video. Jamming this album with you while I process has helped a lot. Thank you for doing this🙏🏻
I requested Consume in the stream, i never would have thought u have to do the album reaction with this sad background.. i love their music for so long, Ryan gave us all so much. today i would have see him and the band in Hamburg.. its just so so sad :( RIP Ryan
Drew if you liked this album, you'll LOVE Hollow Front's most recent album
This was the album that started it all for me!! Fricken Amazing Album Beginning to End…🤘
Let's support them, guys.
why does it have to be the good people that die young like seriously, R.I.P Ryan
I'd understand if they cancel their fall your, but I hope they don't. Seeing them with Currents. Will be even more bitter sweet now.

Relapse is such an underrated banger! Always been my fav track of polaris too. I've probably listened to it like 600 times in my life :D
Damn, horrible news. Such a badass artist, on full display on this incredible album. RIP Ryan.
Hurts so much, Amazing musician

Rip Ryan Siew, you will be missed
Only just found out about this happening. I remember watching his videos before Polaris was even a thing and being super jealous of his recording space and his guitars. Crazy news- life is short.

Any chance of doing perpetual black second by alex terrible (meshuggah cover) next up? There’s a video to it too
This album definitely hits different now
This reminds me a lot of The Frost by August Burns Red
oof, I'm 26
Really makes you think man. RIP ❤️
