In My Honest Opinion as Someone who has been playing and touring with the Montage since its Release back in 2016 I’m a bit disappointed with this release! 😢 I was really hoping for Added Hardware Features Like Bluetooth Audio Streaming For Practicing, Bluetooth MIDI To connect To Other Devices Wirelessly. WiFi For Updating Software / Firmware Easily without the need of a Computer or USB. Also Dual or Stereo XLR / 1/4 in Combo Inputs Jacks for a Microphone 🎤 & XLR Balanced Outputs! Also a dedicated USB Audio Knob like on the MODX & MODX+. This seems more like a Software update at Most. I’ll stick with my OG Montage for another 7-8 years or until Yamaha gets it right or what the actual customers want!

Absolutely wonderful to see and hear (after waiting decades!) Yamaha bring back Poly-AT and upgrade to MIDI 2.0... but Yamaha should offer the GEX keybed in a 73 or 76 key version for synth players with release velocity as well as Poly-AT and really focus on supporting sounds and hardware control for Poly-AT on the simi-weighted models as well.

Does After touch and do custom sounds - carry over to sequence mode, or do you have to save them on your board, also if they are saved on your board, are they easy to referenced in a patch list on cubase, and when you open the project in cubase, does it select the right patch for each midi track with a midi send, or do you have to go through each track and send the sound again or pull up the 16 track on your board after you open your cubase project? Will after touch send its own midi automation to a cubase track too in multitramberal/16 track mode or nah? Also, can you record the 8 filters as automation in sequence mode? Also does the m8x record microphone/audio?
Wow! Finally! I love my Yamaha Montage 6, the M8x is exciting! The two screens, polyphonic aftertouch, the future Montage M plugin and the SOUND really make it a great upgrade from the previous generations.

Hi, thanks for your interest! Although the Montage M series doesn’t have a dedicated “styles” function like some other Yamaha instruments, the “Arpeggio” feature serves a similar purpose. Here’s some detail quoted from Yamaha’s user manual: “The Arpeggio function on the MONTAGE M allows you to play typical Arpeggios, as well as add more complicated rhythm patterns and backing tracks to your keyboard performance. It not only provides inspiration and full rhythmic passages in your live performances, but it gives you fully formed instrumental backing parts of various music genres for ease in creating songs. You can assign the desired eight Arpeggio Types to each Part and simultaneously play back Arpeggios of up to eight Parts.” There are preset arpeggios in some of the included Live Sets, and of course you can also create your own. The Montage 6/7 M+ will include the polyphonic after touch a few years from now.
But why not now?
So you buy this one and that one later..
Boo… Yamaha.
It would have been really cool if the vst was ready with the release of the board. This goes to show, this is just software at the end of the day.
Like every digital synth ever?
Well, duh
Do you have a question about that new update in 2024. Is that a software update or is that a whole new keyboard version?
This is amazing!!!
Almost 30 minutes and no demonstration of the FM-X engine...
Dumb question: Can you plug in a mic or a guitar/other instruments? I really want one of these.
Hi, thanks for your interest! The short answer is yes. The Montage M instruments have a stereo pair of “A/D Input” jacks which can accept any analog audio signal. However, keep in mind that they’re low-impedance line-level inputs, so you’d probably want to use a preamp or effects pedal to connect a guitar or mic.
BTW, love the username - I’m a lifelong Trekkie and DS9 is my favorite.

Pretty WILD__
For 10 mins you are googooing over the added search feature??? Wow...sound search...Jesus Christ...
Can you still import original DX7 mk1 patches straight into this new montage? I have a DX7 mk1 that i would love to use alongside this new montage.
100
It will be like the previous montage
The x stands for polyphonic aftertouch. Wut?
One question. Do you know if Santa is already accepting wish letters?
id love to show this to a 15th century peasant lol
I just knew Yamaha was cooking up something killer
Om 🎉🎹🌟🎹🌟👍
Wow😊
I'll wait for the general purpose Au to come out for $149
Mr. Carl is that you
it is an awesome instrument. but over £4000 uk which is far too expensive
Beautiful instrument, but i don't have $5k right now for it 😂
No offense Blake but I was really looking forward to a Loopop video with his usual didactic attention to detail
Then why in flying fiddles are you looking at the Sweetwater channel sales demo instead of waiting for Loopop on his own channel? Loopop never posts on the Sweetwater channel to begin with.
Is there MUSICAL STYLES on this bad boy like the *MOTIF XF* did?
Hi, thanks for your interest! Although the Montage M series doesn’t have a dedicated “styles” function like some other Yamaha instruments, the “Arpeggio” feature serves a similar purpose. Here’s some detail quoted from Yamaha’s user manual:
“The Arpeggio function on the MONTAGE M allows you to play typical Arpeggios, as well as add more complicated rhythm patterns and backing tracks to your keyboard performance. It not only provides inspiration and full rhythmic passages in your live performances, but it gives you fully formed instrumental backing parts of various music genres for ease in creating songs. You can assign the desired eight Arpeggio Types to each Part and simultaneously play back Arpeggios of up to eight Parts.”
There are preset arpeggios in some of the included Live Sets, and of course you can also create your own.
I hope this helps - feel free to contact me directly with any further questions, and thanks again!

I'm waiting for a time when we get 44.1 k waveforms per note and 96 k notes of polyphony. 😂
The Korg Kronos had nine engines.
No one cares.
Very few Kronos users know how to exploit those engines anyway.
I could have been one of those, but I never picked up a Kronos. 🤣
Maybe the new Kronos with the wavestate, modwave, opsix engine@@Jason75913
