I was surprised that this wasn’t mentioned nor the statue of (who I think is) Khnum that sits on Harrows desk. I read that he guided Ra through the underworld, created the boat that they rode on, and defended him against Apep the serpent. That statue must have some significance 🤔
I totally think this is the afterlife. It actually reminds me of the Kane Chronicles where they traveled through the underworld

They would never do that I completely agree that it would ruin it and I think they know that better than us 😂
I think the god of mind is trying to open up to Steven, allowing him to find the true understanding of himself and allow him to cooperate between each version of his identity. Each part of the story was broken down simply in his mind to ensure that he could memorise it. Its an entrapment and him escaping it, could ultimately help unlock Jacob/jake and his final mental state.
This episode took a massive left turn, & I’m all for it.

So far moon knight is the only Disney series I’ve been keeping up with up to date. Which is a good thing because I didn’t know of moon knight in the past until this year lol and I’m down for a season 2 & 3
I don't think they are suggesting frenchie killed Layla's father, I think they are suggesting Bushman did it, since he killed Marlene's (comic book Layla) father in the comics.
THANK YOU. I don’t know why he suggested Frenchie as the one to execute the archeologists when Raoul Bushman did it in the comics and is a core part of Marc’s history in becoming Moon Knight by being saved from Khonsu. I hope we see Bushman adapted in the second season

Yeah I was thinking the same thing. Makes way more sense they were hinting at Bushman. Even though they change things in the MCU, I think they’re gonna stay pretty close his comic book origin.
I feel like they might change it so Jake takes on the role as bushman which is why Marc has tried to keep Jake from taking over
Just an observation, when marc drifted after being shot, the light shifts to glow like the mind stone. Theorizing...i think this is a mental oasis between mind and soul. His mind is unbalanced..chaotic and seperated. This episode was the first where the mind connected without fighting for the body. (Marc & Steven) in the tomb! The real issue has always been the 3rd personality...marc and steven only recently were disconnected (episode2) cause he said he used to have it under control. Soooo...the chaos in his mind is coming from the 3rd personality. (Esophagus red) "cant have enlightenment, until acceptance of darkness,".....the 3 minds must connect as one. (Triad) to be rejuvenated/rebirthed.

I think the fly is a callback to Marc's line in episode 2 "sometimes it takes all your willpower just to be a fly on the wall"
I like the idea that Reel Rejects put in my head that he's on a boat traveling through the Duat right now (not the Field of Reeds), keyed in by the way the lights and carts were moving in the hallway swaying and rolling like Mark/Steven are on a watercraft. I don't think he's going to actually be dead though, but we'll see in the last episode. I have a feeling he's going to get all the way through the Duat and then come upon the scales where his heart will be weighed (where Ammit usually is to devour the heart of those deemed 'sinners' as their heart is heavier than the feather of Maat) and something will happen there that will free Khonshu and stop him from dying. All just speculation of course, but I think it would be awesome to see Anubis since he's the judge of the dead and one of the closer gods to Ammit in the mythology as they essentially work together.

I love this episode mainly because how happy they are to see one another but also it was really trippy but i feel like the asylum was a look inside marc’s mind

I believe there is a reason to why the two personalities have a different colored sarcophagus. Steven's is more bright and light color and Jake is a dark red color, which probably means they are depicted as Marc's angel and devil on his shoulders. Steven is a good person and doesn't want to harm or kill anyone and Jake will stop at nothing to get what he wants so he would resort to violence.
I think he is protected aginst death as there are 2 easter eggs in this episode which directly suggest the same-
1. the 1st when both enter the tomb/cave and see those huge animal structures [who he calls protection against death in afterlife]
2. ofc toweret who is also goddess of rejuvenation.
As an Assassin's Creed fan, I felt like Steven this whole episode. The way he explores the maze like a nerd, the fact that he and Layla travel through the desert of Siwa and the reference to a medjay last episode reminded me of Bayek of Siwa from Origins.
I'm glad I wasn't the only one who noticed that! When it was mentioned to search for a medjay, I was like Bayek!

whenever I hear medjay I think of assassins creed and the mummy
The statuette on ‘Harrow’’s desk in the mental asylum at the end of episode 4 that is they weirdly focus on, is not Ammit as you might think, it’s actually a representation of Sobek (the crocodile god who wears that particular gate-like headpiece) who, if you’re well-up in your Egyptian mythologies, you’ll know is associated with the healing of Osiris after his violent death in the myth (just like Marc/Steven’s “death” in the tomb). So I think this may be a niche Easter egg to their eventual rebirth into the real world, this is ofc backed up by the very real hippo goddess (Taweret) who arrives who is also heavily associated with fertility and rebirth
I really don't see how you guys manage to put these highly detailed dives into the episodes together so quickly after an episode airs. It must be quite hectic to find all the various trivia.

They probably have watched the episodes, some if not all, before there official release, private screening or something like that from Marvel
One thing that stands out for me is the Ushabti of Anubis. He is in charge of the scales, weighing souls against Ma'at's feather. He is imprisoned.

4th option: The 'dream' is a place for Harrow to influence him after he got knocked out from changing the sky.

Horus is not Set's brother, Horus is Set's nephew. Osiris, Horus's father, is Set's brother. Set kills Osiris, and Horus avenges him.
interestingly, there seem to be two horuses in Egyptian mythology. The older myths feature a Horus “The Elder”, born alongside Set, Osiris, and the others, while the younger myths feature Horus as the son of Osiris and Isis.

11:38- doubt that. Frenchie is normally an ally to moon knight and close friend to Marc from the very beginning and he assisted him in his first battle against the actual partner that betrays him, his arch enemy Bushman
The hallway shifting can also be a nod to the movie *Inception* , meaning marc could be in a limbo dream.
That Mental Asylum is the same set as the so called "Magician's Cave" by Steven (Harrow's lair before Mr. Knight's debut)
I really think that Marc awaking into the mental asylum is him being trapped in his mind, hence being why steven and mark are both there, and the third sarcophagus holding jake trapped in his mind
The fly might also remind mark of Steven because he told Steven “most of the time it would take all his energy just to be a fly on the wall”
The Duat, where souls went on a crazy and dangerous adventure on their way to final judgement (heart & feather), was also a RESIDENCE FOR GODS, meaning that, yes, Marc could be in the afterlife and meet up with gods like Taweret. But remember that he's also been killed in an Egyptian burial chamber and they are places where the mundane world and Duat connect. So long as Marc is in that chamber, those in the mundane world (Layla) can connect with him, and he can, maybe, come back from the afterlife into the mundane world.
I know this is a stretch but I think this is a prison if there own making since mark knew he had d-I-d he feared being put in a mental institution and for Stephen he study’s Egypt so he might be afraid of the sarcophagus they made. And the hippo god could be there since they had interactions with gods. This is a stretch though
In Harrow's office in the 'mental asylum', when you get the shot of the whole room (the camera is far behind Marc and we get a front shot of Harrow) if you look to the right of them, the structure on the wall looks scarily similar to the first scene where Harrow walks toward the arch way...coincidence? I think NOT!
I think the best bet for what's happening at the end is that the asylum is all in Marc's mind as he is getting taken to a hospital. Like he's dreaming and he's in acoma. And the weird shake is like the shake of layla trying to wake him up, the ambulance driving around or Marc is on like a stretcher

I feel like the Moon and Marks third personality, Jake are linked. Jake is getting stronger as well. Maybe the Moon cycle gives Jake the power to step in.
I happen to think that it's possible that Marc is going to receive help from Tawaret because of Stevens genuine love for Egyptian history potentially

@@star_gems Not always. Plenty of the biggest names in Hollywood have made their career by playing essentially the same character in different movies. Clint Eastwood, Jack Nicholson, Tom Cruise, Hugh Grant, Robert De Niro, Jeff Goldblum.... Even taking into account lesser-known professionals who aren't generally typecast, it's fairly uncommon to see an actor change their whole persona this convincingly.
“Dr Steven Grant” in the movie has the same terrible British accent as Steven. It’s hilarious.
I think Harrow is actually an alter. Kon Shu may have rejected him when Harrow rejected Kon Shu after all the mental abuse. He may even have been the main alter and now Mark is. Maybe that’s why he was the previous avatar, and maybe that’s why he is also in their mind at the end.
Interesting take but then it wouldn't explain Harrow talking to Layla in a different location this episode vs Marc / Steven who were with Alexander the Great.

Another argument I have for Harrow being an alter is he would have the most motive to kill the people that Marc is trying to interrogate in Ep. 3. But you're right, how could he be speaking to Layla and also the frenchman while Marc is elsewhere.
Why would Harrow be an alter tho? That doesn't make sense. He clearly was not, cuz alters share one body. They are only separated on their headspace/inner world. Harrow is his own person. He is different from Marc's system.

Dr. Arthur Harrow's office is the same room to where Steven was comforted by Layla while he's chasing by a jackal. look at that curved/arc bricks on the right side, the the steel poles. then the placement of the windows

I don't think this is an "all a dream" situation here. I suspect that this is a kind of "purgatory" Marc & Steven are in in-between life and death after Harrow shot him, and it'll probably lead to Taweret rejuvenating him, maybe even reconnecting him with Khonshu and bringing back the suit?
I agree that they're in a mental space (pun is intended) while their body is dying.
I think they'll (Marc, Steven and Jake) need to free Konshu from the ushapti (do you just smash it?) to regain their powers.

Why would Frenchie shoot Marc? In the original comics, Layla's (Marlene's) dad was killed by Bushman who Marc was working with as a mercenary- then when Marc turned on Bushman he was driven out into the desert to die of exposure. He was eventually found mostly dead and brought into the tomb of Pharaoh Seti where we passed away, then was resurrected under the statue of Khonshu and took off after Bushman as "the moon's knight of vengeance". Frenchie was his homey- he wouldn't shoot Marc!
You know the white office is very similar to the dark room in Hera house where the monster was fighting Steven when the suit was summoned

The Moonknight action figure looked like a regular action figure with the Moonknight cape and hood made out of hospital bandages

The action figure, if you freeze the frame on the closest shot you can, it looks a lot more like a makeshift figure, a painted Skeletor with mummy bandages wrapped around him. At least, that's what I saw when I paused to look at it because it didn't look exact to me, plus the hood and cape look more like gaze bandages or even a strip of burlap

Anatomically its the left eye. I can see where your confusion is coming from since if you were talking to someone, this would be to your right, but eyes, like all other body parts, are described from the perspective of their owner.
@@justinsahl1188 no, anatomically it would be the right eye. The tear duct is where the lines come down from. That means looking at it, the nose would be to the right of the eye. So this eye would appear to us to be on the left, making it the right eye, as you said.

The YELLOW glow when he is rising in the water might be indicative of the mind stone?
So I just wanted to point out one more thing about the twist that wasn’t discussed in the video. When Mark is saying “you shot me” it works on two levels. Not only was he shot by a gun in the tomb but he also clearly received an intramuscular shot (hence why he was so physically out of it) in the hospital due to his behavior (something that would happen in a hospital if a patient is becoming violent).
The hatchet in the episode is from Fist of Khonshu #1. He's given scarab darts, a hatchet, a golden boomerang and a bola..
The asylum part kinda reminds me of the game the darkness 2.
I’ll mention it since I haven’t seen it mentioned.. but there was a lioness when they first entered the tomb, a snake when the clicker came in for the gore, a crocodile head in which was mentioned in the video, then the hippo Ofcourse at the end. All the properties of Ahmet

Why would it be Frenchie? It's most likely Bushman, though not necessarily being friends they were technically partners and Bushman was the one that originally killed Marc back in egypt

Seriously, read the kane chronicles. It explains all this and more. You travel through the Duat on a river, in a boat. In the series Tawaret actually runs a nursing home where the Kanes find Ra and being him back to the land of the living.

Harrow's office is the the same storage room where Steven was thrown out the window by the Jackyl in episode 2. It's just painted white and has more objects in it now.
We have gone from M. Night Shyamalan to Indiana Jones to goofy. Getting more interesting, still very strange. Love the nod to the Balrog hole and collapsing bridge (LOTR)

The pyramid object could be the dome structures in Episode 3 at the horse areas
to me, Harrow's office has the same kind of architectural aesthetics of that place showed on the second episode (exposed bricks, arches, exposed beams)

Why would Duchamp kill Layla's father? At least in the comics, Duchamp is a good friend and pilot of Moon Knight. I guess the killer was Bushman like in the comics where he killed Marlene's (Layla's comic counterpart) father🤔

My own little insight is that the hospital is on the Egyptian boat of the dead, as evident by the swinging of the lights and other loose items.
The partner who got greedy is most likely Bushman. A Moon Knight antagonist in the comics who ran with Marc and Frenchie in his days as a Merc. Bushman killed Marlene's archeologist father in the comics and shot Marc for trying to protect Marlene.
Nobody seems to have noticed the leak in the credits of a 3rd moon knight costume at 48;18 before we see the moon knight suit then the Mr. Knight suit we see a third one that is similar to Vigilante from Peacemaker. I assume it's Jack's version of the suit.
Let’s just appreciate Oscar Isaacs dedication to this role when he takes that ankle breaking step while trying to run out of Harrow’s office. Looks painful and he did it on purpose.
Im kinda surprised no one mentioned that they noticed a fly land on marc's hand, but in a previous episode when marc confronts steven through a mirror, he tells him it would take all his willpower to appear as a fly, maybe its jake lockley trying to signal marc, but when that didnt work, he tried the sarcophagus, just like how he found steven, but then also failed.
he said “a fly on the wall” which is just a metaphor for someone standing quietly to the side and observing. i don’t think they have the mind power to control flies and stuff lmao

The funny thing about that shot though is that the directors said in an interview that it was just a random fly that landed on Oscar during filming, and since he stayed in character and they loved his reaction to it they kept it in.
So not sure if they came up with some meaning by keeping it too, but it didn't start out that way.

I don’t know if anyone else thought of this, but the way the “mental asylum” was swaying reminded me of the way objects move on a ship on turbulent seas. And there was that trailer that showed a boat swaying on the sands. Is it possible THAT boat is the embodiment of where Marc/Steven’s “mental hospital” is? The journey through the reeds?

Yeah, Steven was the timid one, when they were still in the same body, you had to know who which persona it was straight away, now that they are in the same space, you can see the stark contrast between them and will know without a doubt who is Steven and who is Marc.

A detail i liked is how the different personalities react to Taweret.
Marc, the mercenary and vigilante, raised his fists in a defensive stance.
Steven, the inexperienced Nerd and Gift Shoppist, retreats and reaches around in the hopes of finding a weapon.
I would have called it a perfect reaction if Marc moved his arm to the right to try and shield Steven from a possible threat.
Steven also was meekly waving in return. Must be polite whilst retreating in fear. 🤣

I truly feel that this asylum is just inside Marc's mind. That explains why his other personalities are locked away in rooms, along with the third shaking coffin being the newer personality developing (Jake). Steven Grant being the name of his other personality is explained by any DID, as his name was inspired by something enjoyed by the main personality. Explanation 2 is the most reasonable explanation in my opinion

I had a couple thoughts.
1. I don't think Marc is going through the Field of Reeds. That is a form of afterlife for those who pass the trial of the feather of truth. I think Marc isn't dead yet, but Tawaret has shown herself to be a guide to him in this purgatory he's stuck in.
2. The reason I think Marc and Steven are stuck in purgatory because of Jake and his unseen suit persona. Marc and Steven have their suit alters in Moon Knight and Mr Knight, and we're yet to see Jake and his suit alter. I think Harrow shot him twice for the two alters he knows of, but he doesn't know about Jake. Three human alters and their three suit alters also fills out the six points of the Eye of Horus, where each 'sense' is an alter, either a human or an avatar of Khon-shu.
3. Marc is the primary alter, which is why he is the one who 'wakes up' in the asylum, while Steven and Jake are locked inside sarcophagi. Without Marc, the other two can't exist.
How's he gonna have a uit with Khonshu out of the picture right now?

Fun little thing: the pen that Harrow holds up on his office is a fountain pen, a Lamy Safari. But they left on the little cardboard ring that it comes packaged with to prevent it from accidentally puncturing the included ink cartridge. You can see it just below the cap. It's either a mistake, or a very small detail indicating Arthur doesn't use it to write.

I feel like MARC knows about the third personality. I think it was created/popped up before Steven but Marc suppressed it due to it being to violent. Notice how Marc wasn't surprised to see the other sarcophagus but Steven was?
Yes... I thought the same... Steven is what Marc want him to be in real life. Kind-hearted, lovable. Whereas Jack is what Marc afraid of.. being more violent. So he knows about Jack but don't want him. That's why in last episode after waking up he knows Steven didn't kill those guys and just move on to the mission.
No he doesn't , in ep 3 both steven and marx question themselves who did the killing
@@maruthenoiseless4464 I think he does know. He questions Steven about the killing because until that moment, he thought his other alter, Jake, was still locked away in his mind (like Steven was supposed to be).
