Excellent job, very entertaining watching the way you work out each piece of the jigsaw puzzle. Also, I'm glad you covered up those lovely shocks for at least some of the welding!
Liking the new subframe. Must admit if it was me I'd have been tempted to use big rose joints where it bolts to the frame. Purely for looks, not for any other reason.
@@forthebold I believe you already have something in mind haha. I just can't wait to listen to that engine. V4, gear-driven cams, raw pipes.... perfection!
I really like the way it's turning out, just a shame about the registration issues over there. Maybe the Triumph bobber and the trellis framed Mongrel need a new classification British Bobber lol
enjoy your videos. just a couple of tips , mark out your brackets and drill the holes, then cut out. invest in a bench pillar drill, lidl’s or Aldi’s. will save on the scary moments when the metal comes out the vice
If you’re welding it in one go, I’d bolt it to the frame. It might move, bend or twist if it isn’t jigged up. Believe me, I’ve had this happen to me! 😂
@@forthebold seeing as you’re going to take the frame off the engine to weld up, when that’s done use that as a jig. After all, it’s fitting onto it. Looking great though. 👊🏼
Having watched you casually align a piece of tube, mark by eye an then have a perfect fit, I am truly impressed! How do you cut the profile ends to fit the tube so well? I am building a K100 cafe / scrambler type thing (not sure of the direction yet, to be honest) and don't have the nerve or skill to chop off all the rear so I have added a hoop above the original (shortened) frame. I would love to go further and can always change it down the line.
I am enjoying this build cause you can let your creative juices flow. I do have a question to ask. I am wanting to do a build myself. So how do you choose what engine or frame you are using. Is it a price, availability, your vision of the build that points you to certain configurations. Thanks for the videos
To answer that question it was simply what was to hand. Nothing more thinking than that. Not the obvious choice of frame and engine combo but it was also a challenge to get these to fit when they shouldn’t do.
Sealant and paint makes me the welder I ain't! Top trick, use sealant to create a fake ripple weld to disguise a bodge, paint over the top and no-one will know. I've never done this you understand...
Oh I’m not welding it. I know my welding isn’t as neat as what I want it to be. I also want it to be structurally safe so I’m getting someone else to do it. I’m just tacking it together.
The Ducati is being worked on, just so much to be done in the background on it with the carbon fibre body, and it's stuff that I don't want to show on the channel again, like another split mould etc for all parts.
@@forthebold I suppose if it can be run both ways up without an issue the only thing to considder is greater unsprung mass but I doubt it will be in any way noticeable to us mere mortals on a roadgoing bike.
I like where the build is going but my face seems to stretch sideways when you weld near those shocks 😱 you mentioned it was a bit of fun but you could just make some dummy shocks (rods) to avoid problem just a tought keep up the good work👍
How this bike continues to turn out awes me every time.
Ha. Me too.
@@forthebold if only the videos were longer
Would be nice but unfortunately not enough time in the week for them to be. One day maybe.
Excellent job, very entertaining watching the way you work out each piece of the jigsaw puzzle. Also, I'm glad you covered up those lovely shocks for at least some of the welding!
I should have taken them off but too much effort :)
Watching and loving everything
Glad you are. More videos coming soon on this build.
Great again. Loving how this thing is looking.
Glad you enjoy it!

Rose joints are an idea, perhaps for another build
For fun or for practice this is a very nice project 🙂
Thank you! Cheers!
Looks great. I really like that you can take it off. Great concept!! Definitely will be waiting and wanting more!
Cold here too....24F
Awesome! Thank you!
This is such an inspiring build. Makes me want to turn a race car bed into a go kart.
Do it, I actually think either Travis Pastrana or the Hoonigan team did that very thing. (I can't remember which one)
I believe the handlebar is going to be crucial for a build like that. No stress haha!!
Sure is, and we have to have one unfrtounately.

Bruh that turned out so good considering he had no idea in the beginning. i wish it always worked like that lol
Thanks
Enjoyin this build man keep up the good work!
Thank you.
Still my favourite build on TH-cam to date sub frame turned out cool
Thank you. Glad to hear you like it.
Now you have done sub frame. I think its properly coming together. Looks really good.
Thank you. Carrying on with it now.
Beautiful bike so far!
Thank you
I'm fairly confident in doing my dr 600 custom subframe with your enthusiasm
Amazing. do it.
I really like the way it's turning out, just a shame about the registration issues over there. Maybe the Triumph bobber and the trellis framed Mongrel need a new classification British Bobber lol
Ha, definitely is a breed of its own the Mongrel

Would love a pillar drill and now with the bigger workshop this could be.
THANK YOU for covering the springs, oy vey. And thanks for showing yet again that fast protons don’t have to be pretty to be useful, or even final.
Ha ha. You’re welcome.
Very nice... keep on...this becoming my favourite project...
Thank you so much 😀
This built is going to my favorit from all of yours 👍
Thank you, glad it is
just excellent
Thanks
Fandabbydosey! This is such a great project.
Thank you
I like how you build the bike. You inspiring me to build my bike, by my self. I hope someday I can ride with my bike, go to your garage.
Thank you
Really like how that came out, might be a bit high once there is a seat on there but that's going to really depend on what you do for that 😁
I’m also 6’3 so I’m taking into account how my legs tuck in if it’s any lower.
This is really helpful brother 🤩🇮🇳
Thank you so much.
surly make a triangle type box for wiring that brings the tank down to the seat it'll make it flow down way better
Will have to figure out the wiring. That’s a beast in its self.
Good work👍👍👌
Thanks ✌️
I see the tank like a different take on the Harley peanut tanks that are big in the bobber scene in the USA? Looks mint if you ask me 👍
That’s exactly the look I’m going for. 👍🏻
If you’re welding it in one go, I’d bolt it to the frame. It might move, bend or twist if it isn’t jigged up. Believe me, I’ve had this happen to me! 😂
Good shout, yes it will twist without a Jig of some sort and it's such an accurate fit.
@@forthebold seeing as you’re going to take the frame off the engine to weld up, when that’s done use that as a jig. After all, it’s fitting onto it. Looking great though. 👊🏼
Also, I’ve just painted my swingarm, fitted it back on. But, forgotten to put the chain on, so it’s coming off. I need to write notes! 🙄

Late reply but I cut in almost a diamond shape by eye to fit.
Switch the polarity on your welder. It should reduce the spatter.
My understanding is if I switch the polarity it won’t work with the glassless flux core wire. The reversed polarity is only for a gas set up.
Do you have a spotify playlist with all the music from your videos?
There is a Spotify playlist but not of music from the videos. They’re from epidemic sounds. Link below.
It’s almost to cafe racer. Bobber I was expected lower. Don’t get me wrong. The mongrel is fantastic every step but was thinking more low rider
Lower would be nicer but the sheer height of the engine doesn’t allow it

Brother the mongrel is looking rad. Keep going.
Why aren’t you working on the ducati.
The Ducati is being worked on, just so much to be done in the background on it with the carbon fibre body, and it's stuff that I don't want to show on the channel again, like another split mould etc for all parts.
Nice logo! ;)
Thanks! 😁
Will those shocks work properly that way up?
Yep no reason why not.

Ha ha. A little heat spot adds to the character.
Sir please make a chopper bike vedeo
I've got to be honest I'm not too keen on choppers, I like them to look at, not to ride
As far as I know those shocks won’t work upside down.
These ones will with the gas filled canisters.
@@forthebold good to know :). Cool project!
I think you're at a point now where you can't call it a mongrel any longer. This is ugly duckling to swan already.
Thank you very much.
I have seen all your projects and I am confident in you. but this tank is terrible. we'll see=)
I love it. It’s my favourite part.
