Ok to simplify what OP was saying, A half-slab would already be a trapdoor. Think about it, half of a slab. Therefore, a “half-half slab” (aka a quarter of a slab) would be half of the trapdoor. Another way to hide your lighting in your building is to use the slab or the stairs to put it in, because the like is still transferred through it, and it you won't have to see the glow stone or whatever block you're using for it, and you can also put lanterns or other blocks that emit light on shelves looks like a decoration
One problem with the fact that vertical slabs won't be properly included in vanilla. Some builds can't be properly detailed and will always feel like something is missing. (I have faced this problem myself)
Put a frame on top of a pot, then put some glass in the item frame rotate it then put a pressure plate on top now you have a fancy pot just don’t step on top of it. You know what happens. It just starts glitching out.

Actually skip stairs are 1 block cheeper it takes 5 for stairs 6 for walls
