Those pipe cleaner flowers are stunning! What a creative family!!!! I think the slip and T-shirt would look so great on you! And I’m loving that rainbow bubble fabric!!!
Hi Angela really enjoyed listening to all your plans you have some beautiful fabrics and think your pattern matching are really good choices will look forward to seeing them made up.😊
For the Narcisse trousers, if you’re making a toile-notch the “stripe” on the side seam at the centre of your body at waist and hem (likely the same width). Cut the pattern piece in half, remove existing seam lines from the stripe and the front and back pieces and tape the side front to the front then add a seam allowance to the new “side seam”. Repeat for the side-back half of the stripe pattern. Then cut out your front and back as normal. Without seeing the pattern piece I’m assuming the side panel is the same width from top to bottom….you’re just taking the strip and adding it back into the front and back pieces (which is where it would’ve started). Hope this makes sense and gives you an option!
Hia - that makes total sense - and is such a good idea. I may look at making them as the pattern is designed, and then like you say do this change - thank you so much 🥰
Hi there. I’m loving watching your vlogs again. I bought the narcisse trousers and had the same reaction as you when I saw they had a side panel. I made them up anyway and they are lovely. I also tried the peppermint magazine wide leg pants(free) and I LOVE these. The pattern is for tight on hips and cropped but I make not so tight and full length and they are just what I was looking for. I have a pair in denim and a pair in linen. Worth a look.
Thank you s much - that's so kind of you 🥰 Thanks for this - I think I will make them anyway - bt I'm so glad you've commented to say you felt the same - and so good that you Leo them too. I'll check out the peppermint pattern x
It is nice you have a pair of dungarees to use against your pattern. I received a bunch of fabric and a handful of patterns when my friend’s mom passed. I sorted and sent most of it, largely quilting cottons, to my Aunt’s church group that makes quilts for the needy. I found an old pattern by a company, Indigo Junction, I think out of business now, and matched it to a piece of the free fabric and just cut it out. It is so long in the body! I was looking to make some garden/wood shop overalls. I will be making another pair , but folding out a bunch of that extra length.
Decide what hem circumference you like. You can copy the skirt pieces then cut hem to waist seamline on each piece several times an inch apart and move them apart to get total circumference you like at hem and fill in with paper. True hem curve. Then cut out. You can copy circumference of a dress or skirt you like.
Lovely plans Angela! How funny that your rtw dungarees are almost identical to the Heyday dungarees! I'll look forward to seeing the viscose you choose for your version you make.
Hi Angela, you are having trouble with your trousers aren't you! It is hard to find the perfect pattern, I know because I have been searching for my perfect pants too! One pattern I tried and liked, but not enough to be MY perfect pattern is the Nina Pants by Tessuti Patterns. It may not be 100% what you are looking for, it is made in a stretch woven fabric, the legs are a little cropped but they are a nice 'straight fit' without being too narrow or too wide and you can easily lengthen them. They have a nice split at the bottom hem and a side zip. They could look so nice made into full length and would be smart for work but not too smart for play. Anyway that is my 2 cents worth (or pence in your case 😄). Great video! I COMPLETELY agree with your dilemma about work getting in the way of sewing!!! The struggle is real 😁.
He he - thank you, work is a nuisance 😜 Thank you so so much for your input - that's really great. I am going to have a look at this pattern. Thank you 🥰
Hi Ange, I love your lovely nature and happy disposition. You certainly do have alot of plans, but better than none. With the Giselle dress that you want to make the top with another skirt bottom, what about another Sew Over It pattern, maybe the Betty dress. As they are all from the same block it should swap in really simply.I really love the circle tab d ic from Minerva. I have never purchased from them a bit too expensive for freight to Australia for me. I am so like u when it comes to sticking to the same pattern company. Plus I literally love the same ones you mentioned, Sew Over It and Tilly n t Buttons. Have a fun time with all your makes. I'm keen to see how it all goes an dif you make it all. ❤ Deb
Hia Dev, aaahh that’s so kind of you, thank you so much 😊 Yes I think that’s a great idea, and I’m going to look at the sew over it patterns I have, and see what will work. I have one or two ideas in mind 😊 Thanks again 🥰
I am still building myself up to making some trousers again, flat bottom fitting, grrrh. I have heard good reports about the Hollywood Trousers by Liesl and Co. Thanks for doing these videos.
I definitely feel like I'm not allowed to buy clothes for that same reason lol every once in awhile I'll go jeans shopping at a second hand store, try on everything in my size, I rarely find a pair that fits, but when I do I buy them and then I'm more motivated to finish the multiple pairs I've started!
,Hi Angela just a thought for your trousers ideas. Have seen the Portia trousers from Sew Me Something. Jules of Sew Me Something also does a great pair of Ferdy dungarees & her sewing retreats are the biggest giggle & a great way to meet other lovely ladies who want to sew clothes. If I wasn't working full-time I'd have a a better wardrobe 😂 thanks for all your ideas & inspiration. X
Slip dress great idea, can wear with t shirt but hopefully we get a warm summer and you could wear it on its own. Your new fabric is fabulous, maybe your planned top with a circle skirt added 🤞
Hello Angela. You ARE going to be so busy at your sewing machine this month. I started the TATB 'Marnie' blouse and I was hoping to get it finished, but I got ill and simply couldn't be bothered trying to finish it in time. Anyway, I just love the Minerva fabric with all the rainbow colors and even though I was going to 'curb' my fabric purchases I HAVE to have this fabric (Minerva have great mail rates from the UK to Australia). I thought that the Minerva fabric would look beautiful in the 'Mabel' dress (I am not a fan of the saltwater slip dress as I reckon it looks like a petticoat / slip that you wear under a dress..). Happy sewing
Sitting watching this wearing my heyday dungarees, so will be watching with interest as you make a viscose version. Some great makes on your list. Good luck.
Lovely plans and fabrics there Angela 👌💖🙏. I've made the Melilot shirt and it really is a good one.. I plan to make another for this summer 👍. Glad you have your sew Jo back and enjoy making for yourself again 😁🤗😘
I've made the Norma a couple of times. Lovely pattern, very easy but the sleeve binding was too narrow to bind over all the gathering. I took it off and cut out a wider binding, double the width and that was fine.
I’ve watched Alex Judge Sews today and she’s made the Steven Trousers - Ose Patterns which look stunning on her May be worth a look at the video her Friday sews 😊
Hi Angela, I made the Giselle bodice and added the Newlook 6696 skirt with the SOI eve sleeves. It came out really well. Can’t remember how I got the skirt to fit the bodice but tweaked it somehow! Happy sewing 🧵
Oh my goodness, so many plans lol 😂...have you actually made a start on any of these missy!? I completely get the whole, not wanting to buy rtw when we have this enormous amount of fabric waiting to be sewn. I also find even if I buy rtw, I want to then remake it myself! Loving the sound of some of these and the fabrics you shared are just gorgeous. Xx
Hi Angela, fab vlog. I've finally made some trousers with flat fronts, Seasons of East 'Winter in London' Saw them at the stitch show made up in a truro fabrics luxury crepe and fell in love. I lined them instead of putting facing. I put pics on insta . Like wearing secret pj bottoms so comfy, back zip is much easier than side zip, i struggle in the ultimate trousers. Looking forward to all your May makes 😊
The Giselle is panelled in the skirt so I think I would try tapering out the individual panels to finish at whatever width you want the hem to be. Does that make sense?
Wow! It's great that you are planning so many makes Angela 😊. Do you have that free dress pattern from Little lizard King? Would that skirt work on that knit dress? I think it's called Malena!? Only a thought! Great plans and I'm really interested to see your trousers when finished. I keep making lander pants, which I love but also they are the only ones I've made that's fit me straight off. I would like to try some others too!😅
Hhhhmm that's worth a though - I will have a look at the pattern - see if it would work - thank you . Thank you - hopefully will be able to show you soon 🥰
Hi Angela, must be nice to be filled with enthusiasm and ideas, I’m struggling to get going at the moment! I was wondering if the Sew Over It Ultimate trousers would be any good for you - I love the Closet Core Pietra Pants but they have an elastic back. Anyway, good luck with the hunt! 😊
Jean, just pick up one thing you feel relatively confident will sew easily and come out nice. A few weeks back I felt a tiny desire to sew, so I got out some beautiful fabric I have had a long, long time. I finally settled on a pattern I have sewn with good results before and made a duster, or casual blazer that goes about to the knee. And I made its coordinating fabric into a simple long tank, again a pattern I have sewn before. Suddenly I am back in the sewing zone. And I have barely sewn anything for over a year. I’ve made that tank five times, tow elastic waist pants, and I cut out and overlocked the edges of a skirt yesterday.
I'm so sorry that you are struggling at the moment. It isn't a nice feeling. I hope it passes soon. Like Carole has suggested, just go with something you feel confident in - it may just help. Thank you 🥰
Loved all your plans. I just finished a Mabel dress and it is lovely, so you should do that first. Isn’t it crazy that we all get RTW guilt? It’s very silly really, sewing is a hobby not a job so if sometimes we don’t want to make a garment and instead want to buy it then why shouldn’t we?
Hi Angela with the vienne dress would you size down or go with your measurements? I'm about to cut into my fabric 😃so just needed another opinion,😁 lovely fabrics Norma blouse will look stunning in thst fabric that ks fir the vlog hapoy sewing
The Vienne dress I made, I made in the wrong size I have now realised 🙈😞 so I would say that if you make your actual size it should be fine 🥰. Thank you 😊 I can’t wait to make the blouse up ❤️
Oh my goodness, that Bubble Lights fabric is gorgeous. I had to stop your video and immediately buy some! Fabulous video as always.
Oh that is so hilarious - I absolutely love this 😂🥰
Those pipe cleaner flowers are stunning! What a creative family!!!! I think the slip and T-shirt would look so great on you! And I’m loving that rainbow bubble fabric!!!

Thanks so much Sally. Yes I can’t wait to make that shirt, I love it’s style. Thank you 😊 🥰
I made the Protea Pants by Paradise Patterns in the flat front version and I think they mostly tick the boxes for what you are looking for.
Thank you 🥰 I shall look this up x

Totally agree - Thank you 🥰
For a trouser pattern, have you looked at the Itch to Stitch Upland Trousers?
Just came on the recommended the Uplands as well. Really good pattern and Whitney from Tomkatstitchery has a sew along for them.
Thank you both so much - I have looked at these, I do think they would be a great option - Thank you 🥰
Thank you for another great video.❤

Have you checked out the itch to stitch upland trousers. They are great. I do add elastic to the back, but the pattern is no elastic.
I did have a look at these - they look great too - Thank you 🥰
I'm so excited to see your saltwater dress. Let me know how it goes, I've been meaning to try it .
Will do - thank you 🥰
Olive green looks good for now weather.
