This channel is top tier, I love how original every build is, I’ve always wanted to make this for a subterranean aphid farm species. Imagine Lasius flavus farming root aphids in this ant farm, it would be a self sustained fully visible nest
🐜🐜🐜 Thank you for the shout-out. You did get my name right. I'm definitely going to try this, I have a few non-diapause colonies that would do well, and a store that specializes in bonsai plants. I also want to try to raise a colony in an ant plant (forgot the name). Is there a way to send pictures? Great video as always. 🐜🐜🐜
Hey D, i ran into a similar problem when making my nests in multiple steps. I ended up using paper clips and bending them and cutting them. Insert one into the already poured before drying, leaving the other end sticking out, then when ready, pour the next layer an the 2 forms should hold together without an issue. This is typically used in construction with Rebar and pouring concrete to give flexibility and strength, but it will also lock things together
That's a great idea, buddy! 🫡 I've actually thought of using a chicken screen for a rebar, but I only found a rusty one so didn't use it but I ordered some for the future use.
That was the 1st prototype buddy, on the ones we build on this vid no moisture problem as we've added more ventilation. Plus this set up is designed for bio active terrarium lovers, which will keep clean nesting space check while allowing a view inside. Of course it won't be as good of a view from a typical ant farm but it would be able to keep the colony healthier.
So glad i looked this channel up after someone recommended it to me as ive grown tired of a certain ant channel that will not be named, this is the ant content ive been looking for, though i do wish to hear a more human voice, i dont really mind the text to speech that much so just do you man, cheers
Hi @Dcolony , I really like your builds. Here in Indonesia the larvae and pupae of Semut Rangrang (Asian Weaver Ants) are known as kroto and are harvested commercially for use as captive songbird food and as fishing bait. I'm interested in ant keeping, I'm thinking is there a way to make living Semut Rangrang farm but with kroto that can be harvested? With your living ant farm builds plus a self feeding farm it seems even more interesting.

I'm not sure if there are aphids that feed on roots. You could set it up to let them farm aphids from the stems, just watch it, males fly. Good luck.
@ yes, subterranean ants do farm root aphids
Wish we have that specie in Philippines too. 💚
Very interesting idea. Thanks for the video!
Been waiting for an update of this, glad you didn't have up on the project. 🔥
Definitely me! My favorite concept from lots of his unique builds.
Thanks buddies! Will definitely see it to the end.

late comment^ but that looks really hard to make thos tunnels? but thats a cool idea all ways have the best and your so close to 40k cant wait 🤩
looks like the moisture and the roots is blocking the view to your ants which is the main reason to keep ants in the first place 0:57

Let's see buddy, for now we have the aquarium and ant farm. 😁
do some ant war for educational purposes only like carpenter ants vs fire ants or yellow carpenter ants or black crazy ants or any
What did you pour that D colony
It's tile grout buddy.
Nice but I don’t understand how this works
Why Ai voice?
Sorry about that buddy, the place where I live is too loud during my free time, and that's the only time I had to record and edit.
Because of technical problems payment declined.
But now ok😊
No problem buddy, it didn't reset at all. 🙏
Use your real voice
Workin on it buddy.
Room tour when? ☺️
