I've been listening to the preview of this song for ages, but man, so glad it's finally out. I have to say I am quite charmed by the sad but contemplative quality of it- full of the grimmest and richest wisdom. Very spiritual, like a long, knowing fatal sigh toward the embrace of death. Hail the Allfather, and hail his nine days upon Yggdrasil
This song makes me cry every time i hear it, especially the part with the ravens calling. I think its because of the sheer beauty and awe of this song, and somehow because I am sad for some reason I cannot put my finger on. I miss Allfather :(
This happens to me like 90%of times i listen to nordic folk music, the song called norduljos from "skald" has touched my heart like nothing else ever could
At 2:57, when he pronounces Odin's name, you can almost hear him singing with a slight overtone, almost like someone else is also speaking through him.
Wouldnt that make them nordic not viking? Viking were a group of people who raided so you cant be viking and not raid. But if you follow nordic beliefs then you would be nordic, nom
This song was the transitional point for me going from Atheist to Norse Pagan. I regret nothing. Hail Odin, and hail Danheim for giving us all this joyous music. Skal.
I understand entirely. Its strange isn't it. You grow up hearing stories of religous stuff and it all sounds like crap and doesn't blend in with reality. So you become atheist and trust science and what you can observe, but then you observe the gods and you realize that atheism is just as outlandish and... Uninformed as say catholicism. That the gods are part of reality and they have been large driving factors behind much of mankind and midgard/earth/the solar system/the milkyway galaxy's development. That without them we would not be here, even if our written details are not 100% correct, the gods don't care what words say they are or are not. They just are what and who they are.
Am from India. State of Kerala follower of 2000 year old Christian community, we believe our community was directly baptised by St. Thomas in 72 AD, don't know I feel like Odin is my all father. I can associate with him more than the God I knew all these all these years.
I see Arminius preparing for battle with sacrifice to Gods before me when I listening this song. You're greatest Folk group from Denmark, I really enjoyed your album!)
Always puts me into a trance. Makes it much easier to talk to odin, not that my grandfather is hard to communicate with but actually speaking and using the runes and signs and omens and dreams are two different things entirely
I don’t know if it has already been done before, but would you consider an album (or single) around the topic of home and hearth ? Not a cheery tune; more like a melancholic longing for the warmth of the fireplace, the desire to be reunited with loved ones. The kind as one might sing while being away on unfamiliar seas, when winter‘s sharp gales cut the faces of men and the steel begins to freeze to your hand ? Those days when one could believe there is nothing more to the world but the cold expanse of ocean and land beneath an overcast and uncaring sky; when it seems as men is adrift in a realm he ought have not dared to venture into...
I'm new to the mythology and only know the basics, so even for me it sounds like such a good time. I'd love to sit down with someone and have them explain everything they know about norse mythology. Could listen to that for hours! It's so interesting.
@@Tom_Quixote before long, you would be able to recount the tales with your own words, like a snake in grass you could weave the tales of the God's together in an epic tale that could please even Odin himself. Then one day, you sit before someone less understanding and they ask you about it, so with a smile you light a fire and pour some ale, and tell them the tales you know all too well.

At first , i was just listening to this because i am actively listening a bunch of your songs . After a couple of listenings to this, i think i want to go to the Valhalla when i die . Those Tagelharpa (correct instrument, right?) parts are insane!
Danheim 24/7 replaced Thunderstorms, Traffic During Rainstorm and other white noise as something to play while sleeping (low volume, as peaks can be quite stirring).

Yiu need not miss him, comrade, he is ever-watching, ever-present. The gods of old are all 'round us, we need just look out for their signs.
The hanged one lingers, as long as there is man with ambition - of the thirst for knowledge or the hunger for more.

How can a song be this beautiful and heartfelt, yet slap so goddamn hard?
I need an extended version of this... this is simply incredible. Thank you Danheim
I am a viking myself... I'd have you represent our ancient and forgotten culture any day! Thank you a million times, truly.
Vikings don’t exist anymore.. and likely never will unless the coming Apocalypse paves a path in which raiding becomes a necessary act to survive.
The viking spirit and norse goddesses and gods lives on.
One can have a viking heart/soul. Goes beyond raids and stuff. Just let him/ her be.

you are not a viking... the vikingage ended in 1066 🤣🤣
As a scandinavian you should know this. We learn that in school from day 1
this is something unreal! while I'm listening to this song I can feel this nordic vibe! Masterpiece!
