So from what I can gather, these were Shonen Jump packs for the 10th anniversary. From what else I am reading, some of the monsters chosen were because they were specific to Yugi or Joey, or the anime itself. " In the anime Gyakutenno Megami's the card that Kaiba famously throws to jam a gun and prevent it from firing. The scene was removed from the international release, but its significance remains for players who are familiar with the uncensored anime." Also also, there was a DMG released in Japan with this set. EDIT: Also yes, Shiba Warrior Taro is based off his own dog. :)
I gotta say, the CGC slabs look amazing. I like how crystal clear they are so the card is what stands out the most. That could also be why they use such a bland looking label, they want the card itself to be the focus point, not the label.
All the grading companies have certain boxes they check and boxes they don’t. Depending on which ones you care about the most, that’s the company you go with. I’ve graded thousands of cards, and for me, I prefer CGC.
bgs are just so nice looking to me. the only reason I have psa cards is because I was impatient and wanted things graded right away. I wish that I had 0 PSA cases laying around.
I live in the UK and don't know much about grading companies, but damn those cgc cases/slabs or whatever really make the card shine out, as soon as I seen blue eyes I was like why tf does the card look so clean and then when he compares it to the other 2 I was like wow cgc rules
For awhile CGC was very lenient with print lines.. my guess is they probably gave surface 9 whilst everything else was pretty high grades (the Lugia that is) But truly that should got more like an 8/8.5 surface I think they are much better with that stuff now
I guess the cards getting upgraded was just something they had to swallow when they wanted to implement their new grading scale. So there will be a big batch of "Gem Mint" CGC 10s that don't really deserve it, but the trade off now being that they have a better differentiation between an actual Gem Mint 10 and their new Gold label Pristine 10, following BGS with the black labels.
hey guys, the 9.5 is a new step in between, it comes from 9 + 9 + 9,5 + 9,5 (spoken in subgrades, which they dont display anymore). This has nothing to do with reholdering all old 9.5s to 10s. Its more like a 9,25 when you look at it in the old grading scheme. Hope this clears things up :) @@kevin_huynh
I personally only use PSA and BGS. I prefer BGS cases and their subgrades but their process and pop report issues limit how often I use them. As such my go to is PSA. Their process and transparency and pop report accuracy is the best. Of course there's a reason why they're the grading leader by far they're the most well known and generally command the best prices outside of unicorn BGS black labels. I don't really see a reason to use any other companies especially after CGC got rid of subgrades. Not to mention their shady stuff they've done. There's a Japanese grading company called ARS that looks like it has potential but I still wouldn't use anyone but PSA or BGS because you have the recognition and history with them.
Would you ever grade with a third party company? Just to see if it’s worth it? I graded some stuff with DSG and their website and customer service is great. I thought they were really accurate.
Missing the Pokemon vintage opening and grading videos from you and Gem Mint Pokemon ☺️
Big fan of the CGC cases. It's a great grading company to submit cards to that you want to keep and appreciate in your personal collection
Those CGC cases do look so much clearer. I can see the fogginess you are talking about with the others.
I only use cgc because I love their cases. They also grade just about everything where some card art won't get graded by BGS or PSA

Yeah I agree. The more I look at them the more I like them.
But cgc grades fake error cards
man 2020 already feels so nostalgic. Would love to see you crack some more Undaunted
So clear!

Been a while Rhyme always love seeing an upload with Pokemon on this channel go up!
I think that blue is definitely top 3 art!
The CGC cases are great, very clean! 👌🤩
AFAIK the monsters picked for the anniversary set were based on general popularity as well as Takahashi's personal favorite's
Those art works are CRAZY good

Psa for value .. cgc for display… bgs for black label (not the slabs) for me personally
Beckett for display

Yup probably what happened. They may be better now but this 9.5->10 thing will be a stain for a long time on their rep
I hope something good happens to you guys. You deserve it
Cool art works

Yeah but they still maintained some 9.5s. They coulda truly reviewed them all.
Yeah that's true too @@Rhymechan

"I love everything PSA does except for the one thing that is the core part of their business" 😂
You should start opening dragonball cards. Buy a power absorbed collector's box and show how fire the new dragonball cards are.
Do you prefer the cgc or the beckett label/slab?
So I just got back into collecting pokemon cards, what would be the best place to grade my hits from 151?

I expect when rhyme is old as dirt he’ll still have this story to tell
I thought this man got another PSA 10 Lugia smh
PSA IS OLD NEW BRO WE ON CGC NOW 💀
The more you look at the Lugia the worse it gets... Please tell me that's just marks on the case, looking at the diagonal line lower left.
Theres 3 lines total. Two horizontal and then the vertical one by his foot.
@@Rhymechan Look at 17:59 there are a few diagonal lines. I couldn't tell if that was on the card or scratches on the casing.

Ehhhh not a fan but just cuz I been using psa and bgs primarily
Yeah I get pokemon cost way to much to open the old stuff but we do miss it someone sell this man gen 2 box for cheap
CGC is a no go !
Oh yea let's gooooo
Bgs is the best grading. Psa is ight. Cgc is gross
