I burst into tears every times I watch Miss Universe 1988 crowning and so proud to see her farewell walk. She is the most beautiful Miss Universe at all times because of her beauty inside out and very smart. I wish all her dreams come true for helping her children's project. She has her perspective that children are our future She is angel on earth!
I think the one thing that I will always remember is the adoring faces of the people who have received me with great love and admiration. I am thankful for the Miss Universe title because it has allowed me to live my dream and that is to change the faces of crying children to laughing children, where as we all know, laughter has no language barrier and is the most beautiful language of all. @u2ups same here, I love MU 86-89, it was such a lovely MU. the MU in the 80's and the 90's was much better and classy compare to what we have today. Delegates during those years were beautiful and intelligent, unlike today, they are all models and airheads. I just wish that the MU organizations will reformat the MU pageants like what they had in the 90's. Since 2001, MU lost that class that it used to have.
MU: Holland, 1st ru: Germany, 2nd ru: Chile, 3rd ru: Sweden, 4th ru: Venezuela. The 3 most articulate, exuberant and candid were Holland, Germany and Chile. They were also attractive and stylish. Venezuela and Sweden simply did not possess the same magnetism but were stellar in evening gown and swimsuit.
Miss USA se veía más vieja. Parecía dueña de lenocinio. Miss México muy bella aunque su postura era un poquito plástica. Miss Polonia, una carita de niña con su vestido de graduación. Miss Suecia, una típica muñeca nórdica. Miss Holanda, estupenda. Me encanta su reacción cuando recibe la corona.

I never got the hype with Angela Visser. She's beautiful, but not the HUGE thing they want to make her look. She won fair and square, got to give her that, and I would've placed USA as 1st runner up instead of Sweden. Instead of Poland I'd place Jamaica in the top 5

@martirdz tienes razon, Portnip Nakirankanow se nota un poco inferior en belleza al pasar la camara con las 5 finalistas atrás, yo también noté eso, además q la tailendesa tampoco es bonita cuando ganó, ella es guapa pero NO bonita! y definitivamente q despidiendose con semejantes mujeronas atrás como USA, HOLAND, MEXICO quedaba opacada, pero coronó con mucho ánimo a la holandesa, Holanda es hermosa pero tiene la cara como muy cuadrada pero es bellísima, para mí la mas bonita era USA.

Why in the world they selected this individual to be Miss U MC? I think he just presented one (enough) M.U pageant... The Bob's were much better *Barker and Goen !

I think what happened at that instant was that the Miss Universe sash was supposed to be put on to the new Miss Universe first before her bouquet of flowers and Pornthip was letting that other girl know that and it just kind of looked like she was brief with the new Miss Universe.. Awkward for sure.
