Porcupine sound (cry) at night! Cute

At 2:30am, a loud cry woke me up. It's a porcupine's sound. It was up in a tree, unfortunately i only have the audio (it was night). Not sure why it was crying, maybe it was stuck, or maybe it was calling for its mother. Maybe it was giving birth who knows!. It was just really cute.

Female porcupines climb up a tree and scream when they are in mating season, she was probably trying to get some male porcupine attention.

This is great! I had male and female porcupines, and this is probably a female. They are more vocal than the males. She was probably telling off a male. They are hilarious. Thanks for posting.

Wow, thank you for uploading this. I'm camping in a spot where each year I would hear this and two nights ago it was so loud and sounded so distressful that I went out at 1:30am with only a weak flashlight and a hammer because I thought someone was trying to fool me. It must've been giving birth because I could tell when it would be exhausted and push when contractions would come. Very cool experience, now I'm excited to see if she brings them around with the mother raccoon I have visiting me also . I just uploaded video on my channel of the mother raccoon.

I don't know where you are located, but I just heard this sound for the first time in my life in Maine tonight. There were two animals making this sound, like they were calling to each other. I knew it wasn't owls of any kind, and the only thing I could think of was maybe porcupines? So I started searching the internet and trying to determine what kind of sounds they make. . . .and this is exactly what I heard.

I heard this sound in my yard last night and I thought it was a baby porcupine bc there was a huge one on Friday 6/22/18 and yesterday was 6/23/18
