Just ordered it and can't wait to explore and I know it's going to be as fascinating as the 3 sets of Composition Made Easy video sets I ordered and have just started watching, because they ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC. Love your mum and dad Gavin and all four of of you in a room are frigging priceless and how you all keep straight faces is beyond me, but as you often imply, keep photography fun 🤣
HI Gavin with my Sony A6000 apsc camera if I want a longer focal length I use a full frame lens and get 1.5x the focal length probably not available on a full frame camera 😁
Lyme disease is around in the uk but if you use a apsc or micro four thirds camera they have a anti tick button that's not available on full frame cameras.
As someone that was born and raised in Pittsburgh it made me proud seeing that Heinz ketchup. I gotta be honest, i was intrigued with Roys cameras and thought it would be cool to see how good he was with those slides. And as i usually do each video in picking one i think i would like to have printed, i loved the first photo.
Now I understand why you are the way you are. Your parents are great and I agree your mom should have her own channel. I do hope you let your dad show his slides!
I was a wee bit disappointed that we didn't get to see your Dad's cameras more and those slides. But I understand the embarrassment that could have occurred if your Dad's pics somewhat upstaged your own.
Great episode of Scotland's Funniest Home Videos. I look forward to Episode 2, where the four of you have a banquet of haggis, mash, and single malt. Cheers!
I don't watch TV, but I would consider paying my Licence again if you got your own show Gavin. You're the double of your Mam by the way! Show us Roy's Slides!
Great to see you two in 🏴and yes you can certainly get Lyme Disease from the ticks here - two friends have had it this year !!! Hope there are more Scottish Videos on the way.
Another excellent tip 👍. Your channel has everything Gavin. Humour, delightful background musical interludes and of course your brilliant instruction which always makes us look out for a killer composition even when at first glance we might miss it. Great stuff👍 That'll be twenty dollars please 😂👍
Really enjoyed this vid Gary now you are back in civilisation with some interesting places to photograph. The actors who played your mom and dad were superb, you did well to get such accomplished and polished actors at short notice. As always Amanda was fantastic, you are so lucky to have her.
What a brilliant video, your Mum and Dad did make me laugh Photos are brilliant as always. Hope you’re enjoying being back home….no place like home eh. Yes Lime disease is in the uk. Have a good time, being back.
Great video. Good to see you back here in Scotland. Be careful of the ticks though. They definitely can carry Lyme Disease. I'm lucky that I don't think I have ever been bitten by one. Plenty of midges but no ticks.
Beech trees are amazing. And the castle ruins shot was pretty good too, even if not in the preferred conditions. I bet those fish and chips were cracking!😊
Lovely images into the video and a good laugh with the folks! A wonderful trick with the cropmode on the camera, I do the same thing myself. I have forgotten a couple of times that it was on 😂
The crop feature is not exclusive to FF. My Olympus EM1 MK3 has a 2x Digital Teleconverter that can be assigned to a button. Thanks for the tip of using it to test what a different focal length looks like.
Hey... remember when we were at Shore Acres? I shot that ENTIRE series of images in crop sensor mode because I was showing someone how to use it in the workshop the night before 🤣 So... don't forget to change it after 🤣
🤣Great line Amanda!! Beautiful country! I Enjoy seeing all the history across the pond, both natural and man made. I hope Roy exposes some film on one of your adventures. I'd wager he's got some good research material in those slides.
I can feel your excitement of being back home, and how proud you are of Scotland. Those trees are indeed awesome. And I must say… what a blessing it is to have parents who play along with you in making a funny video. Not many people have this privilege. Really awesome.
😂😂😂more mum and dad please. Loved the camera stuff, and gorgeous photos too btw. Whats not to love about Bonnie Scotland especially the West coast, im biased as l live there......Alioban
Always a joy to catch up with a new video and Ahhh, yer mum plates a fantastiqua looking fish & chips! It's worth mentioning again as I'm really enjoying the book, (insert shameless promo here: Chasing Awe by Gavin Hardcastle!) Amazingly it also fits perfectly in the laptop slip of my Think Tank/Mindshift so I'm never at a loss for poop coupons when I'm out and about and needing a "Plop" 🤣And, please thank the peerless Amanda for the little unicorn book mark!
You are pure crazy! It is SUCH a delight watching anything you do because I love to laugh ( not laughing AT you, of course, but WITH YOU.) Your Dad is so sweet.
Loved your photo of the castle by the sea and the foreground with green algae! Beautiful and stunning imagery there with all the ancient walls and ruins. I like your tree shots too and how you explained the difference in the 35 mm or the 55 mm lens. For a amateur photographer like me, made sense. But best of all. I laughed out loud when mum put the bib on ya and you ended up with mushy peas all over it! Hilarious! The fish and chips looked amazing btw, hope no Explosive 🎉 d.....a happened lol...! 😂❤
Hey Gavin, As a photographer who has been sidelined for the past 4 ¼ years with Lyme disease, I can assure you that Lyme and other tick-borne infections most certainly do exist in the U.K. Virtually anywhere that birds exist, except Antarctica, you will find Lyme-carrying ticks. Take precautions, because I can assure you, you do not want Lyme (or any other tick-borne disease). Happy shooting!
Canon crop factor is 1.6. They also have a shutter over the sensor when the camera is off i.e. when you’re changing lenses. Ticks do have Lyme disease in the UK, but they’re only really an issue when you’re on ground frequented by hoofstock.
Yeah man, Lyme disease is absolutely around in the UK, and there was a Foreign Tick around this year that did much much worse. But I've at least one friend who's been on and off of medication for lyme disease from a Tick in the UK. But just keep you're eyes on any bites for the tell tail red ring.
18:00- you call this photo "you have to work with what you find", and i call it great piece of photography art. Perhaps in stormy day it would be better, but the green moss would not be so vibrant, so i think maybe at this conditions is exceptional. Really good one. 👍
I can't believe, its four years since you did the last skit with your parents. The last time with Adam's trophy. Your mum was so funny...especially the outtakes.
Good tip about the crop factor - never thought of that before. I guess doing a digital zoom-in would work but you would need to know what each press of the zoom button was equivalent to. I have a box of slides for you to see also, once you're done there🤣.
Best book ever written? www.fototripper.com/chasing-awe-landscape-photography-book-gavin-hardcastle/
They should put one in the top drawer of every hotel room - next to the bible 👌
available from roy?

Your mum should have her own channel, a natural !
Oh bugger.. I wanted to see your Dad's slides. He looked sooo sad that no one wanted to see his stuff... .... 😃
You mum and dad need their own TH-cam channel, freaking hilarious. Your dad reminds me of my own 😂😅
Lyme disease is around in the uk but if you use a apsc or micro four thirds camera they have a anti tick button that's not available on full frame cameras.
great tip, it certainly ticked my box.
As someone that was born and raised in Pittsburgh it made me proud seeing that Heinz ketchup. Love this one! I dearly miss the UK. Especially Scotland. Also, the fact that this video had no bloopers was heartbreaking 😭
Bloody brilliant! Never mind photography, new sit com with thi mam and dad.
We need more of Roy on TH-cam! I would love to see him out there with his cameras!! I think he'd be big competition!! 😀
It's great that they go along with it all for you Gavin lol those are some mighty fine parents ya got there
I hope we get a full presentation of Roy's Ireland slides in the next video..
Cheers!
Another classic Fototripper video. Love your parents Gavin. I can see where you get your comedic nature from. Brilliant!
loved it, mom and dad are great sports
I don't watch TV, but I would consider paying my Licence again if you got your own show Gavin. You're the double of your Mam by the way! Show us Roy's Slides!

Brilliant and so very funny, thank you all.

Thankyou for the compliment. He doesn’t pay much though.
What a brilliant video, your Mum and Dad did make me laugh
Photos are brilliant as always.

Yes Lime disease is in the uk.

Another awesome video man, you make landscape photography so fun. Thanks for all you do!
Damn, love your dad. I would love to see a tour of the darkroom please. And those are awesome cameras he has 👍
Laughing out loud at Mum & Dad! Great video as always and Lyme disease is in the UK.
Long ways away from West Yorkshire. Scotland is perhaps the best place in the UK. Cheers Gavin for the quality content as always
Beech trees are amazing. And the castle ruins shot was pretty good too, even if not in the preferred conditions. I bet those fish and chips were cracking!😊
Your parents are awesome!!! Another great video. Thanks for the tips!!!
Your mum is the best :) your dad is a analog geek and Amanda is having second thoughts. great episode ! ;)

The bib was the BEST!

Lovely images into the video and a good laugh with the folks!

I can feel your excitement of being back home, and how proud you are of Scotland. Those trees are indeed awesome. And I must say… what a blessing it is to have parents who play along with you in making a funny video. Not many people have this privilege. Really awesome.
Very amusing as usual Gavin. I can see where your humour comes from.
😂😂😂more mum and dad please. Loved the camera stuff, and gorgeous photos too btw. Whats not to love about Bonnie Scotland especially the West coast, im biased as l live there......Alioban
You guys are always good for a laugh. Fun to see you. This one is especially good.
I quite like using a black mist diffuser when shooting backlit woodland. it can bring a little bit of interest to those brighter areas.
Hey Amanda, you could make bibs for Gavin with his photos printed on them 😃👍
Always a joy to catch up with a new video and Ahhh, yer mum plates a fantastiqua looking fish & chips! Ooh, I was born in Nova Scotia and adore it, but I've always wanted to see the country it was named after. Thanks for bringing us along for the trip.

Great video lots of good information
Looks like fun for all, I loved my visit to Scotland four years ago

Wow! Great to see you in Ayrshire and at one of my favourite castles.
Those old cameras are awesome! Imagine the history they have recorded.
Another great video, very funny, and I learned some really good tips. Loved all the photos too.
Your parents are a hoot and now we know why you are what you are!
You should have 85 million subs.
I can't believe, its four years since you did the last skit with your parents. The last time with Adam's trophy. Your mum was so funny...especially the outtakes.
Oh yeah! That's when they killed Adam in the boot 😂
Good tip about the crop factor - never thought of that before. I guess doing a digital zoom-in would work but you would need to know what each press of the zoom button was equivalent to. I have a box of slides for you to see also, once you're done there🤣.
When you said “Fish-n-Chips” I gave you the THUMBS UP Sir… Cheers 😋🍻
