In my opinion, WayV has the best discography out of all the NCT subunits. They're also for sure the sexiest subunit. Thank you so much for the reaction!
The members with lower registers in the songs are YangYang, Ten, Hendery, and WinWin. Our high-note king is Xiaojun-the one you saw at the beginning of On My Youth. Xiaojun is usually the one hitting the high notes, but Ten and Kun also do it often. Still, Xiaojun is especially known for his high notes. We’ve also got dance king Ten Lee, famous for his versatility and insane dancing skills. You should check out his solo work-it’s seriously amazing. Especially YangYang and Ten-they’re seriously good at everything, lol.
Xiaojun is the one with the high notes in on my youth. He is the one in the car and the one who started the song. Btw NCT Dream has a Killing Voice just in case you want to react to it.
21:22 love how you talk about that even the slightest movement is impactful. The one doing the dance move you paused on is Ten. I think all kpop fans can agree that Ten is one of the best dancers in the entirety of kpop.
As mentioned, WayV means "gods of vision," so that's why they talk about seeing "the face of Vision" in the lyrics of "Turn Back Time". Therefore, within their storyline this also means they are gods with a vision for the past, present and future. Since the creation of SuperM, where they took members from each of SM's most popular groups and created an Avengers supergroup, I think that was SM's first indication that from now on we need to pay attention, because all of its groups' MVs are somehow connected. If the SuperM Avengers are coming together to help EXO stop the Red Force, I think the members who are part of SuperM are the liaisons who are helping to connect all the groups -- EXO, Taemin/SHINee, NCT and WayV -- together. For example, right after SuperM released their debut "Jopping" MV, WayV came out with "Moonwalk" and I think "Moonwalk" is pretty much a continuation of "Jopping's" storyline, and now I think their other MVs, such as "Turn Back Time," etc. are also part of that story. With NCT's dream concept, they could very easily connect to EXO's other world and other dimension theories. For example, I see parts of the story in "Turn Back Time" that could be connected to SuperM's "One (Monster & Infinity)" MV. When Lucas is suspended in the air in the MV for "One (Monster & Infinity)," I see similarities to the fact that he is supposed to be a fallen angel in "Turn Back TIme" who is also floating in the air. Lucas doesn't have a shirt on because he has just had his wings ripped off or removed, so he is shirtless because he is recovering from whatever happened to him. We see the scars on Lucas' back because his wings have been torn off. I also wonder if WayV actually has the power to turn back time, similar to former EXO member Tao's superpower -- will it be WayV's job to help fix the problems in EXO's and SuperM's storyline by turning back time? ("5, 4, 3, 2,1" -- they are counting down and turning back time. The end move in the choreography was designed to show time had abruptly been stopped and the momentum of their movements caused their body to tremble like that, etc.) And, if you notice, Ten and Lucas have a pivotal role in the storyline in "Turn Back Time." I think this might be because they are members of SuperM and they are coming to gather the other WayV members to bring them into the fight. Maybe in "Turn Back Time" the WayV members are cut up and injured because they have been involved in the battle as they help SuperM take down the Red Force. In the end of "Turn Back Time" we see a post-apocalyptic world with a mashup of buildings that form the shape of a V, which I think is connected to the fact that in WayV's "Moonwalk" MV we see a meteor shower taking place. And I also think that meteor shower is connected to the fact that we see the planet on fire in the end of EXO's "Obsession" MV and everything on fire in EXO Lay's solo "Sheep" Alan Walker relift version MV, etc. And it now is probably connected to EXO's new "Let Me In" MV storyline, where we see a giant meteor about to destroy Earth. I think at the end of the "Turn Back Time" MV, they might be showing what their world looks like after the destruction of the planet has taken place. Fun fact: Lucas, who is Chinese-Thai from Hong Kong, is a former member of WayV. He officially left the group in 2023 after being on hiatus for almost 2 years due to some controversies, however, he still is a member of SuperM and earlier this year he debuted as an SM solo artist. If you like WayV's dancing, then you really need to check out their dance practice videos. The chorography for "Turn Back Time" is even better when you see it completely without any cuts.
WayV members quick guide, in age order. - Kun (4:42, 16:55, 24:27, 28:35 Oldest, Leader, Main Vocalist, Sub-Rapper) (He plays the piano and loves writing & producing music, he produced "Rainy Day" for NCT U and has writing credits on WayV's song "Be Alright." He's a pilot and an amateur magician) - Ten (8:36, 17:23, 21:45, 29:15, Main Dancer, Main Vocalist, Sub Rapper, Center) (He's from Thailand with Chinese ancestry, he's known as one of the aces and stand outs in NCT overall. He's an incredible dancer and can play the piano and guitar. He debuted with NCT U in 2016. He also has a solo career I recommend checking out) - Winwin (7:30, 13:32, 21:55, 23:23 Lead Dancer, Lead Rapper, Sub Vocalist, Visual) (He has a very big acting career in China so he isn't always present for every WayV comeback but he is an active member of the group. He's like the fake maknae cus he has such a soft and sweet demeanor which is wild cus he has all that bass in his voice lol. Also, an incredible dancer I believe he has traditional Chinese dance training) - Xiaojun (4:08, 15:49, 24:3529:54 Main Vocalist) (He's the one doing all the high notes. He has stated that other people in his family sing better than him which makes me wonder what wishing well this family went to cus wow. He can play the Ukulele, piano, guitar, and drums. He plays the violin) Former Members: - Lucas (He was previously the Lead Rapper, Sub Vocalist, Visual, Center, Face Of The Group) (He left on May 10th, 2023)
I think WayV is one of the most underrated groups because of the language barrier. Honestly, as a K-pop fan, I wasn’t used to hearing songs in Chinese either. But their song quality and the members’ skills are absolutely insane. Their music gives me the same grand, “wow, this is an SM song” vibe I felt when I first heard EXO’s MAMA. They’re the only group that captures that feeling for me. I just love them so much
Thanks for checking out WayV! They're great, and you started with a good selection of songs. Some others I would recommend if you want to check out more: Frequency (their most recent, also amazing), Give Me That, Action Figure, She a Wolf, and if you do reactions to track videos (basically, MVs of shortened versions of bsides), then Poppin' Love and Miracle as well. The guy with the crazy notes in the back of On My Youth is Xiaojun; he is usually/often (though not always!) the one doing soaring background notes. The three main vocalists of WayV are Xiaojun (tends to have a dramatic and clear vocal tone), Kun (has a softer/sweeter vocal tone), and Ten (tends to use either a breathy tone or, alternatively, very piercing /pos? idk quite how to describe it, it has a slight twang almost that cuts through the sounds around it). And I agree that WayV's dance always feels impactful! idk if it's the choreo or the execution or (probably) both, but it always hits hard.
21:29 yes because they’re all amazing dancers-and ten lee who is the main dancer of Wayv is also known as one of the best dancer in kpop. As I said you can see how incredible their movements are. So just imagine how insane Ten must be if he’s considered one of the greatest dancers out there. I really suggest you to react ot his solo stuffs too I wanna see if you'll like them: Dream In a Dream (dance heavy) New heroes Paint me naked Brithday mv + dance practice is must. His recent 1st solo album - 10 Nightwalker (title track) Perfomance film: 10
Anyways, thanks for checking them out. Their discography is genuinely fantastic, they are super underrated. If you decide to react to more of their stuff I'll definitely be tuning in
I literally was JUST watching your Ateez reaction and saw the person who commented asking you to react to WayV and I thought I would jump in and say I agreed only to see you post this exact video not minutes later bahaha I got into to WayV last year with On My Youth. I didn't know a thing about them before but now they are one of my top boy groups. They started out with 7 members but Lucas has not been a part of the group since May 10th, 2023 so the MV's before that will have him in them. Recently, Winwin has not been a part of the last three comebacks (which includes their debut in Japan) because he has a very prolific acting career in China and from the little, he's shared it seems that SM Ent. isn't working with him to schedule comebacks around his filming schedules so he hasn't been able to be present but is still an active member of the group as far as we know. I love R&B and WayV's base is mainly in R&B/Hip-Hop style songs so they're right up my alley. Their sound also has an element of theater to it that just adds an additional magic to them. I also recommend, "Give Me That" "She a Wolf" (from the same album, "Give Me That" is the title track and She A Wolf is a B Side) and also check out their latest "Frequency" and "High Five" (also from the same album with "High Five" being the pre-release track and "Frequency" being the title track). Other great songs from them are "Action Figure" (Performance Video), "Poppin Love" (Not a full music video, only a b- side from On My Youth with a shorter "track video"), "Take Off" and "Kick Back"
Fun fact: As you heard, the MV for WayV's "Love Talk" is an all-English version, but -- because WayV is the Chinese/international sub-unit of NCT -- if you listen to the album, you will see there is a Mandarin version of the song, as well. SM just chose to only make an MV for the English version. Because of NCT's dream concept, I think in WayV's "Love Talk" MV we are supposed to interpret it as if they are inside a dream. I see the cube that is floating in the air as part of SM's labyrinth concept where, like EXO, they might be trapped inside a maze. Which, if the maze is part of the Red Forces' plot, that could be why WayV are in a foggy dream state. (The Red Force are the evil group or being in EXO's storyline.) In EXO's storyline it is thought that the Red Force has trapped EXO in a maze and the maze dulls EXO's sense and makes it so they are unable to fight back. We often see the EXO members in a sleepy dazed state because they are under the Red Forces' control. And now with the release of aespa's "aespa ep. 2 'Next Level' -- SM Culture Universe" video, it looks like that same floating labyrinth cube that we see in "Love Talk" is what blocks aespa's way as they travel through Kwangya. (Everything SM does has to do with Kwangya -- even SM's new building where everything is created and produced is called Kwangya. Kwangya is the metaverse that all of SM's groups' and artists' concepts, and most of their MV storylines, revolve around.) And I think it might even be connected to the cubes we see in the sky in EXO Kai's solo "Mmmh" MV, as well as the labyrinth cube we see SHINee's Key standing on top of in his solo "Gasoline" MV. Because WayV is the Chinese/international unit, but they are releasing music in Korea and promoting in Korea, not specifically in China, SM is more likely to produce their songs in English. Hence, why several of WayV's songs are English songs, because I think it helps SM avoid any crossover issues with Korea that might make it more difficult for them to promote in China. Now you should check out a live performance of "Love Talk," because there is actually choreography that goes with the song. It's even better live. :D
Aww, thanks for reacting to WayV's songs/mv. I hope you could also check out their recent comeback songs and past discographies fans are saying that WayV reminds them of 90s boyband excellence ☺️
My favourite NCT unit! Thank you! WayV's discography is so good and pretty diverse, they're a really well rounded group. On My Youth is my favourite, I love the old school SM 2nd gen boy group vibes, the drama, the strings, and Xiaojun's (the high notes you asked about, oreo hair, in Phantom too) voice in the bridge gives me chills. If you do a WayV guide, I really recommend A Beginner's Guide to WayV (2024) by weishenvous, it's pretty recent and is the clearest and best one imo. I hope you keep checking out WayV! Their recent comebacks Frequency, Go Higher and Give Me That are sooo good! If you're interested, one of the members Xiaojun has a Lee Mujin service episode too which is stunning.
NCT's lore as a whole is dream based or more specifically referred to as the "Synchronization of Dreams"... the lyrics often reference dreams/dreaming and the members are frequently shown sleeping or waking. It can best be described as a sort of Inception-like vibe where they're able to enter one anothers dreams or "dream-walk". So it's not so much a storyline as it is an overall concept which allows them to go in any direction... if a video seems over the top and weird as hell, it's most likely a dream. 😊 WayV referenced aliens/sci-fi a LOT in the early days, but then backed off from it a bit... however, their latest release called 'Frequency', depicts them as aliens once more. I think of it as their recurring dream. 😄 Until the last few comebacks also, their title tracks were always very cinematic sounding... sorta soaring and lush. And b-sides tended towards a very atmospheric sexy sound. Lately they have been experimenting with different styles and leaning into more hiphop (or wipwop aka WayV hiphop 😂) which has always been in their music, just not as front and center. Hopefully, you'll check out Frequency someday, as it is a certified bop! WayV frequently has a lot of red since they are the China based unit and red is a very special color to the Chinese. Xiaojun and Ten are the main vocalists with the high notes and Kun typically has the sweet soft voice. Then you have the three rappers... YangYang who often is the fast rapper, Hendery has the steady flow you liked in On My Youth and WinWin is the member with the really deep voice in Phantom. Lemme tell you, Ten is the lord and master of body rolls.... and THE best dancer in kpop imo. (I said what I said, people! 😝) If you would like proof, I highly recommend the dance practice for Ten's solo called 'Birthday'. Specifically the *dance practice* though... the mv is good, but the choreo absolutely deserves to be seen in it's entirety. The dance practice is shot and edited more like a performance video anyways, just in casual clothing. Plus, you're able to see more of the super hot lady back up dancers better, who friggin' kill it. 😉
Thanks so much for the reaction! I hope you can do Bad Alive (Eng ver.), She a Wolf (Performance video), Action Figure (Performance video), Poppin Love (Track video) and maybe even Bad Alive dance practice (princess version) for a closer look at their personalities and to see each member up close. Thanks again
Because WayV -- which stands for We Are Your Vision in English -- or Weishen V in Chinese -- which means "gods of vision" -- is a sub-unit of NCT, NCT's whole dream concept is also part of WayV's storyline and concept. (Hence, why in the lyrics of "Phantom" they say "only I can see the truth," and they talk about having the vision, etc.) As with everything NCT does, it all has to do with dreams, dreaming or something to do with being in a dream state. Some fans who are into SM group theories have also speculated that NCT's storyline also connects to EXO's and SuperM's storylines. For example, in their "Phantom" MV we see the red moon or planet with YangYang holding up the moon, which I think is also probably connected in some way to the fact that in WayV's "Moonwalk" lyrics they talk about taking over the moon. And it's also probably connected to WayV's other MVs, as well as EXO's and SuperM's storyline, because everything EXO does is also connected to the moon, other worlds and other dimensions, etc. It's all part of the SM Culture Universe. Although WayV's "Phantom" MV is loosely based on the concept of the Phantom of the Opera, a phantom is just another name for a ghost or apparition, so I really think the song is about a phantom in general, not specifically the phantom that haunts the opera house. I think the song is more about the image of someone or something that haunts your thoughts or memories, etc. that seems to be affecting or controlling all aspects of your life, manipulating you "like a puppet on a string." WayV debuted in 2019 and they are NCT's 4th sub-unit. Currently, there are 6 members in WayV: Ten debuted first as members of NCT-U and he is also members of SuperM; Winwin first debuted as a member of NCT-127 and NCT-U, and Kun -- the leader of WayV -- originally debuted as part of NCT-2018; and Xiaojun, Hendery and Yanyang debuted specifically as members of WayV at the beginning of 2019 when WayV was formed. > Kun -- the one with the red hair -- is a lead vocalist. > Ten -- the guy with the mullet hairstyle -- is Thai, but his grandparents are Chinese and he attended an international school in Thailand where they spoke English most of the time, so he is fluent in English. (He is the NCT member who is fluent in the most languages -- on top of being fluent in Thai, English, Korean and Mandarin, he is also learning Japanese); he is a main dancer (one of top dancers in all of Kpop), lead vocalist and a center of WayV. He is also the NCT member with the most solo songs. > WinWin -- the one with the deep voice who throws the knife at the heart -- is a lead vocalist, lead dancer and sub-rapper. (He is trained in traditional Chinese dance and attended one of the most prestigious dance academies in China. He was also admitted to a very important dance program at University -- similar to the Chinese equivalent of Julliard.) > Xiaojun -- the guy with the gray hair -- is the main vocalist and the one with the high notes most of the time. > Hendery -- the one with the crazy eyes -- is from Macau China, so he also speaks Cantonese; he is a lead vocalist and lead rapper. > Yangyang -- the blond -- is the youngest and he is Taiwanese, but he lived in Germany for a while and attended an international school, so he is also fluent in English and proficient in German; he is the main rapper. The only reason why WayV doesn't have NCT in their name like the other 3 NCT sub-units is because, at the time of their debut, there was a lot of political issues between Korea and China, and because of that Korean companies were not able to work in China. NCT's Chinese sub-unit has been going to debut for years, but with all the political issues it took SM Entertainment a long time to find a way to work around all the rules the Chinese government put in place to prevent its native Chinese citizens from working with anyone associated with Korea and preventing anyone who was working with a Korean company from working in China. So in order to circumvent some of China's restrictions, SM found/created a Chinese company that was willing to take on NCT's Chinese sub-unit, but also allow SM to have a say in the group's concept and promotion activities. Part of how they get around the rules is they gave the group a name that distances them from their Korean roots. (That is also why WayV's Chinese fans are called WayZenNi instead of NCTzens and why WayV has their own lightstick design that is different than NCT's, etc.) The company WayV is under is called Label V, which is part of SM, but separate from the Korean branch of the company and it produces songs in Mandarin to keep the Chinese government happy. All the members of WayV also speak Mandarin and have some connection to Chinese heritage, but most of the members are not native mainland Chinese citizens, so this gives them some immunity from the Chinese government. But they are representing China and they are promoting Chinese culture, so the Chinese government kind of turned a blind eye to the fact that they are technically still under a Korean company, as long as they hid any connection to their Korean company while doing promotions in China. As you can see, not only do the WayV members speak, Mandarin, Korean and English, but they are a very international group that speaks many languages. So, pretty much all of WayV's songs are in Mandarin with a few English lyrics and words mixed in. (Except when it's an English version, such as "Bad Alive" or as you just heard, their all English version of "Love Talk," or their English song "Miracle", or if you happen to pick the Korean version of some of their songs.) LOL You should now check out WayV's live performances of "Phantom" because the song and choreography is even better when you see and hear it live. (If you watch their MCountdown comeback stage, you will even get to hear the English version of the song.) SM Entertainment is known as the vocal powerhouse of the Kpop industry, which also happens to have some of the best dancers. And the company is known for the fact that when their artists perform live, they are even better than any of their studio recordings. So everyone always looks forward to their live performances. I think you will be even more impressed when you see it live.
PLEASE check out 'frequency', 'moonwalker', 'bad alive', and 'after midnight'! also 2 of the members - ten and yangyang - have an english song together called 'low low'
Btw, it's funny how you keep mentioning how you love the red outfits, because red is kind of their color (very unofficially. Their official color is neon green, like the rest of nct)
him: "oh the body rolls" me: WELL, so who's going to tell him? no but seriosuly, wayv=body rolls, it's just in their dna. you should react to some dance practice bc their choreos are always sharp and... wavy? idk they're just nasty
In my opinion, WayV has the best discography out of all the NCT subunits. They're also for sure the sexiest subunit. Thank you so much for the reaction!

Anyways, thanks for checking them out. Their discography is genuinely fantastic, they are super underrated. If you decide to react to more of their stuff I'll definitely be tuning in
Moreeeeee wayv 💚💚💚
EXO is my ult group but WayV is lit
Same same. Exo is for life . NCT DREAM's songs are my time but wayv blows my mind every time .
And recently, I am loving Wish's songs
I literally was JUST watching your Ateez reaction and saw the person who commented asking you to react to WayV and I thought I would jump in and say I agreed only to see you post this exact video not minutes later bahaha
I got into to WayV last year with On My Youth.
Other great songs from them are "Action Figure" (Performance Video), "Poppin Love" (Not a full music video, only a b- side from On My Youth with a shorter "track video"), "Take Off" and "Kick Back"
Turn Back Time is indeed instant playlist
Yayaya WAYV🎉!
The big high notes in On My Youth are all Xiaojun :') he's incredible
WayV referenced aliens/sci-fi a LOT in the early days, but then backed off from it a bit... however, their latest release called 'Frequency', depicts them as aliens once more. I think of it as their recurring dream. 😄
Until the last few comebacks also, their title tracks were always very cinematic sounding... sorta soaring and lush.
If you would like proof, I highly recommend the dance practice for Ten's solo called 'Birthday'.
I think the song is more about the image of someone or something that haunts your thoughts or memories, etc. that seems to be affecting or controlling all aspects of your life, manipulating you "like a puppet on a string."
WayV debuted in 2019 and they are NCT's 4th sub-unit.
He was also admitted to a very important dance program at University -- similar to the Chinese equivalent of Julliard.)
> Xiaojun -- the guy with the gray hair -- is the main vocalist and the one with the high notes most of the time.
(Except when it's an English version, such as "Bad Alive" or as you just heard, their all English version of "Love Talk," or their English song "Miracle", or if you happen to pick the Korean version of some of their songs.) LOL
You should now check out WayV's live performances of "Phantom" because the song and choreography is even better when you see and hear it live. I think you will be even more impressed when you see it live.
yes Turn Back Time is the best OT7 song
