Abandoned- 2 lonely old Cottages built around 1900/ Eerie vibes/Squatters did not even stay

- Hey house lovers! This video we take a look through 2 neighbouring cottages which will eventually be lost to new development. Both houses are stated to have been built around 1900 on the real estate site but I have learned from research that they estimate these dates more often than not. That being said it is quite accurate although the cottage on the left could date back as far as the 1870`s given it`s basic symmetrical design and original features left inside like the kitchen lean to. Julie-Anne who helps me research did in fact dig up a land title for the left cottage that dates back to 1875 for a Mr Ray but the Dwelling was first owned by a Mr Humphreys. Both dwelling have blue stone facades although I state sandstone for the right home in the video as they have had paint jobs over the stonework. The right home is what I can only describe as a miniature villa which you will see in the video. There was a bit of an eerie vibe to these homes as they are dark and lonely. Even squatters had at some point set up but not stayed for what ever reasons. Huge back yards which no doubt had the developers swooning to secure these two lots together as it is in what you would consider a blue chip area for real estate. Anyway I hope you enjoy these two old historical homes that will be gone soon.

Back when a big back yard was essential,, even in the suburbs. A dozen chooks,vege garden,some fruit trees and room for a game of cricket.Bygone era I’m afraid but thanks again for sharing.Always enjoyed.

Me and my wife are currently renovating a house just like that. Still has the tin ceiling, an old wood stove in the kitchen and horse stables in the back yard. I hate seeing them earmarked for demolition, they have so much character and trust me with a little bit TLC they are the envy of everybody that comes and visits. Hopefully some of that house will end up at a building recyclers because I will be their with bells on to pick my self a period bargain.

Yes really maybe you and your wife can not rescue these homes but if you can salvage that ceiling piece &other things you two will enjoy knowing you saved somthing neat from just being trashed.
It's really a shame that these homes are disappearing, not only changing look of the area but history is being lost.

This style was called shotgun houses over here back years ago. Simple little homes that kept many families housed over the years. Not nice enough for most people nowadays. Stay safe and have fun exploring.

So these two cottages have been vacant for 7 yrs. Guess the city found the lot size quite promising. No wonder these two ended up on the demolition list.
The front yard is lovely site. Bet you could plant all sorts of flowers, bushes, etc. to make it stand out alot.

With the first dwelling, you either found the original house of the Australian Chapter of The Seven Dwarfs or, you should have played Basketball 😆.
I agree that the 1st house was originally built prior to 1900 and had simply been modernised bit by bit up till the 1970/80's.

I know I've mentioned it before, but I really want to make it clear, that I LOVE the time you take to find the cool open and exit music, and other touches you add to edit these. They are much appreciated!
I like how you didn't make it sound like it was haunted because of the door closing and put it as the wind closing the door. There are a couple of exploring channels i quit watching because now that they are over 50k subscribers everything is "spooky", "we're being watched", "not alone"...etc. click bait crap. keep up the honest videos.

I could have done so many paranormal videos in these old homes but without history or haunting info It is harder to commit but it can easily still be done. Yes we are energy within in the body, the energy continues on as consciousness reincarnating over and over like days at school. If you pay attention and evolve your consciousness you will no longer require the material body and evolve up further just like all the cycles of life everywhere :-)

I liked the smaller cottage! The floor plan was nice such a shame we couldn't see the old mantles. Missed it not having an arch - however if someone were to restore a cottage like that one could be added. Thanks for sharing these old treasures, shame they will only be seen on your videos before long.

These two were lovely and simple villas. Showing a more simpler time, you can only imagine how it was. I do like the high skirting boards, the doors and the mini orb ceiling is it in the hallway of the second one? Those low door ways, early settlers must have been a little on the short side😂. There was a creepy outline of a person on the floor of one of the front rooms.😱 Eeeeek!! Tell me if I'm wrong.
Love the rose bushes and old building made with tin great video would loved to have seen the homes when they were first built i know they would have been beautiful

Unusual layouts in the second villa. The corner fireplaces, usually centered to up combine rear room fireplace brickwork. The small middle dining room would be annoying to walk around the table into the living room. My guess is that back in the day heating the home was a priority issue therefor segmenting these rooms off made sense to stave off the winter chills. For once I can say that given the cracking and low level of architectural detailing and craftsmanship, there's nothing of value lost when they go, apart from the family memories, hopefully good ones.

Thanks Urbex Indigo for filming two very interesting old cottages, each with unique history. Judging by the height of the interior doors, the first cottage was a lot older and also felt really creepy, like someone was watching you. Evidently some belongings have been left behind and people have come into the dwellings to engage in particular activities. The second cottage was your typical early 1900s Victorian villa style home with higher ceilings. Such a shame two old cottages will be lost forever and replaced with modern developments.

Hubby and I jumped a bit when the front door opened(that could be because we had just been watching Slapped Ham "ghost videos" though). I liked the second house. It must have been lovely and cozy when it was first built.

Looks like whoever lived there up and left and the squatters moved in. That bed
looked recently slept in and all the dishes on the living room floor all point to
people living there. Looks like a cozy little house. Very small one level. Maybe
the people who lived there died and the house was left abandon. The good
thing is that there is no graffiti inside. An interesting and enjoyable video.

The first house definitely had squatters. I say that because you found those
needles in one room and all those bags of chips. When that door slammed
shut I was scared someone was coming in. They probably just come in at
night to sleep and make their drug deals. The second house had evidence of
squatters living there and especially that comment written on the wall about
touching their stuff. Scary stuff. Both of these places were nice small homes.

Turns out the squatters were just type 1 diabetics and used the house to inject their insulin 😁
Ok that first house is freaking creepy. Has the hairs on my neck standing straight up. Doesn't it look like there's an outline of a body on the floor in the pink room by the front door? About 9:32 into the video. That freaked me out!!! No joke. Noticed right away. Ok.... Gotta continue watching the video. Y'all stay safe out there!

2nd house, love the tiled verandah. Just a thought, but I wonder if the squatters could have burnt the mantels in fireplaces to keep warm, they appear not to care about the premises? Our late 50's home had all bedrooms on 1 side of hallway, all other rooms i.e. longeroom, kitchen and bathroom otherside. Mum and dad had the same stove as this one as their replacement stove, more wondwrful memories for me, thank you Paul, I'm loving it💓

It made me jump when the door slammed shut, I think your rather brave to go alone to these places, thanks for sharing these fascinating places that someone once called home, I it’s very sad.

Hi Laura :-) I really love the fact that the building are old and they have a vibe all of their own. I just used to love the rush of going through an old house or building and then I started noticing all the different features and fell in love with them even more haha. Glad you are drawn to it too, do you get out and and find some locations? :-)

Hi. 2 great finds, i like the smaller bungalow less cleaning to do lol , they do look tired & dated so i'm all for them being demolished i think small dwellings like this have far to big gardens & if you just look at the land there is i can see why they want to build on them , gardens only need to be small i think the average person spends to much time trying to keep them in some kind order & nature will always win. Tfs. :-)

That is funny that you mentioned the kitchen tiles and you renting a Unit at one stage with the same tiles - I lived in a place with the exact same oven.

Loved it, was very interesting when that bloody door slammed I would have been out of there so fast ...would have been nice back in the days, course has to have a junky there at some stage...pusher in the next house, sad to think that there was a young child may have been living there at some stage.

I jumped when the wind blew the door😁 I wonder what the homes looked like back when, before all the cars, when the dirt road was in and the trees lined the streets.
Folks were shorter back then and needed the large windows for light.
You're right about the development folks not being able to wait to put up milti-ugly buildings to get the most out of the property's.
Those homes were once luved and taken care of. Another nice job of filming them, they'll be gone but remembered though your videos.
I wonder if they may have had a nice pond in the back at some point before there were modernized plumbing & all. Like to go for a picnic out back Paul? Hope you like Amish cooking. 🤘👻💖

Before a big demo job near me, a specialist team was called to remove about 15 years of drug addicts rubbish, Public WC's closed down due to drug usage

Being from the United States, I don't get the room arrangement with the bedroom in the front and the living room in the back. Quite the opposite of our setup. If there a particular reason for that, or is it just a preference? Also, something else I've noticed. Do Australians not like two-story homes? I just have not seen a lot of abandoned videos featuring them. Loved the tours. Thanks for sharing.
Great questions Jackie ☺firstly the newer homes here do not follow this room set up, the older ones like this always had the kitchens right at the back and therefor living and dining close to them. Bedrooms were then left to the front end. 2 story were not common due to the very hot summers here and before electricity and air conditioning the heat was unbarable upstairs lol So a single level ho1ome with very high ceilings and a hall from front to,back door was the most common set up back then to combat the hot, summers

Someone was definitely squatting there at some stage. It breaks my heart that there are so many homeless people with no where else to go. Edit: If people were homeless bc of drugs then that is a different story!
Symmetric cottage looks late 1880s/early 1890s, with the rough stonework and low doorway height. The other looks to be 1900s. I think both of the verandahs were add-ons. The "outdoor" bathroom is curious...
