On AirAsia seeking for new regional jets, I believe this is to coincide with Malaysian government's decision to resume jet operations at the smaller Subang Airport (SZB), formerly served as the main airport of Kuala Lumpur then turned into a turboprop only city airport. Major operator at this airport is MH's turboprop arm, Firefly and limited jet services have already started by AirAsia and Scoot. The capacity is planned to be around 3 mil ppa by 2030 and the terminal is already connected via existing rail network. Definitely a huge potential here as many prefer to fly via SZB due to its location within Klang Valley population centres. Historically, Tony Fernandes has been lobbying the government for years to operate AirAsia out of this airport after he bought the airline.
I was on the inaugural Air France MNL-CDG at AF209. It was pretty full. Fabulous flight and truly enjoyed the service. The return flight last Monday was also around 90-95% full. Both flights had excellent cabin crew on J class
Traditionally, France is once a prestigious international air transit hub for passengers going to Africa, South America, the US, Caribbean and even Asia. Now passengers can transit to Paris en route to these destinations
JetBlue has the best trans-Atlantic economy cabin. And their Mint service is as good as any business class and better than most. I’ve flown them to Heathrow, Gatwick, Schipol, and Paris CDG. Looking forward to trying their new Madrid service. Go B6!
Embraer has consistently brought quality offerings to the regional jet market and I hope AirAsia and other airlines seeking a great result invest in the E2 and other planes in the class!
The Modest Embraer 190 E2 is a plane that can easily end most Dash 8 400 & ATR 72 600 routes in our country, wish Air Asia show us how its done, much better if its all done w/ the 195 E2 :]
If they do, it would make them the first airline to operate the type in Southeast Asia, and it would still do the same if they choose the Embraer E-Jet E2. As an Indonesian, this is a huge W for me since Indonesia definitely needs better planes.
E195E2 is cheeper a lot and faster slots. I would not be so sure about that. A220 is better plane but Embryer needs order so they might go down with price. Same with order for lot (84 A220/E190E2's)
@@Weryl But most of these haven't flown much in Indonesia. I rarely see any Embraer E2 in Jakarta or Bali, or none I think. And Qantas only uses the A220 for domestic routes (since they are a very new type in the QantasLink branch). But either way, if AirAsia gets either the A220 or the E2, it's still a huge W for me.
Embraer or Airbus, both are decent choices. Sadly Embraer isn't in a position to replace further planes. But maybe they are being called up to do it one day. We shall see.
7-9 hours on a narrow body sounds very unpleasant. Wide bodies feel so much more spacious. It’s so much easier to stretch and walk around on a twin aisle wide body. On a single aisle narrow body you’re often blocked in with flight attendants+carts or people going to the bathroom. Getting on and off the plane is also much faster on a twin aisle. Narrow bodies also lack room for much cargo like ULDs, so they’re giving up a big piece of revenue.
None of what you say is actually true. Wide bodies have a lot more “middle seats”. Whereas a narrow body has 1/3rd as middle seats. So it’s a lot more cramped to sit. Unless you are exactly in the middle seat, you still need your isle to get up to walk around, which could be blocked. Also, when FAs do service, both isles are blocked. Getting on and off is much quicker with 160 people than with 360 people. JetBlue uses 20 min for boarding time in Europe and they easily manage to have the doors closed and ready for pushback in that time. Getting off was even quicker, especially when you account for the fact that immigration is much quicker with 160 people and that bags for 160 people come out quicker too. The reason why airlines want a narrow body is because of reduced hourly operating cost by more than half. So they don’t have to sell ULD cargo to subsidize the passengers. A narrow body has an extremely low “break even” passenger load compared to a wide body. Of course, the biggest advantage will be the ability to fly direct between smaller airports. If you live in Pittsburgh and need to go to London, normally you would have to fly a narrow body to New York or Boston, switch planes and fly to London. With. Narrowbody, you might end up going direct from Pittsburgh to London. The Boston to Edinburgh is already a prime example of what is to come.
AS a jetblue Super Fan, I would like to see them wet lease 2 a330-800 at least to try them out in summer to Europe maybe 30 mints and the new mini mint as business
Manila non stop with AF: sounds nice. Until I checked out the prices: 300€ difference and no luggage, adding another 100€. So question is passengers will chose e.g. Cathay Pacific and save 400€, with 3 hours more travelling time?
I flew AF about 20 years ago. The flight I booked was overbooked so I had to wait 4 hours for the next one (Paris to Hamburg). Then, that flight was overbooked so they stuck me in First Class. Of course, no food or drinks as AF was out of everything. I should have rented a car and driven. Should have used Lufthansa.
Embraer needs some sales; sadly because of what they do they are having difficulty breaking into the North American market which is the highest volume and greater profit. The 919? I really needs to prove itself outside of China; if it can, it could make some serious waves.

Luxair ordered E195-E2s

Potentially very good news for Airbus
Thank you Dj!!
Air Asia plans in video all looking pretty rough!
Air Asia will definitely choose the A220.

Bit of a gull wing design on the Embraer to clear the big turbo fans from ground. Nice clean solid logical engineering 👌, hope they do well.

The certainty wouldn't have to wait long for delivery considering the backlog for the type is basically nil !!!!

So excited to see jetBlue go to Spain wish they delivered the A321XLR earlier tho:(
What logo did that Air France A350 have on its engine pod? It certainly wasn’t an RR one.

waiting for PIA updates
How long into the video till you mention "supply chain issues" I wonder.....
You actually never mentioned it! Woohoo!
Exciting times for JetBlue, is the C919 even certified for the EU yet?
No
Good One Air France,And jetblue
I'll root for Embraer for the potentially massive Airasia order.
i want comac, but at least embraer is safer than airbus
