    On every shaver I have had, the trimmer blade eventually gets dull and pulls hair. While you can change the shaving heads, it usually requires sending the shaver in to have the trimmer replaced! For just a few dollars, the Norelco s9000 trimmer is user replaceable. I personally think that’s awesome!

    I use to suffer with ingrown hair, and what i founfld is that all the ones i had to dig out was multiple hairs in one, so i started growing my beard and all the big multiple ones i pulled out with a tweezer, over time i had non left, now i can grow and shave without problems. I don't use cream or aftershave just soap

    Still using my trusty old Norelco Speed XL 8151XL that I bought in 2005. While the Genuine HQ9 blades are getting harder to find, they are quite possibly the best shaver heads Norelco has ever made. They are triple track and true lift-and-cut, unlike modern Philips Norelco blades, which have eliminated the lift-and-cut feature.
    One other thing, the Gen2 9000 series now has a pop-up trimmer built-in and they also improved the shaver head as it now has a pop open head to make cleaning the shaving head much easier. Glad I waited to buy the Gen2, which arrives later this week. Hopefully the pop-up trimmer is better than what is in the 3800.

      Hey Bill, get the Volko sharpening kit and resharpen your HQ-9's. I'm still running my original blades in my 8240XL and I still get a smooth shave from them. The HQ-9's are the best shaver heads Norelco ever made, with HQ-8's coming in a close 2nd in my 8865XL Spectra. It's a great shave just not as smooth as I get from the HQ-9's.

      @@BillShelly My 1260X 3D shaver had the same problem your 9800 had, I ended up replacing the lithium battery since jumping the old one didn't work. The 9800 look's like a nice shaver, not that I need a new one☺️

    Your trimmer is defective on your new 3800. I have a bigger beard than yours and I had the 3500 version before in the past. The 3500 is the 3800, it literally is the same thing. (the 3800 gives you a dock and different color that's it). But the trimmer on my 3500 mowed it down fast to a stubble.

  • @user-fi1xu1pp7p
    @user-fi1xu1pp7p 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    8:34 that pop up head to clean is WAY more reliable though. I don't have the 3800 series like you, but I have the gen before it, the 3500 series. LOOKS IDENTICAL to your 3800 EXCEPT the color is blue and black, not sliver and black. Oh and also I don't get a dock with mine, but It cost $59. Oh so anyway long story short; the pop up clean on the cheaper ones break so easily. On mine, the eject button broke. It is an impossible fix and renders the shaver useless. No one can sell that part, not even Philips themselves. Yes I'm aware of the replacement head, but the eject button still is on the machine itself. It lasted 1 year too 😡. So basically what I did was upgraded to an expensive one like yours or similar I think it is 9700 or 9500, idk the number is earased now BECAUSE it's been 2 years and it is rock hard solid. EVERYTHING is "knock on wood" on it. Also the removable trimmer adds to reliability as well. Anything that pops up can break easily because it's spring and plastic loaded. I'd rather have the physical removable parts on mine. Also your trimmer is broken on the 3800. It ain't even cutting anything. My 3500 is like the aquatech, it cuts my beard almost down to stubble. Something ain't right with your trimmer on the 3800. It might be defective

    • @honestreviewswithnick
      @honestreviewswithnick  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I agree , it's either broken or the quality just went way down hill. Thanks for watching and for the great feedback for myself and my viewers.

    Man I totally disagree with you on the trimmer installing on the side
    1. It is not as easy to use
    2. It is weaker due to ergonomics of using energy from the engine
    3. When it wears out it is much easier to replace it

    • @honestreviewswithnick
      @honestreviewswithnick  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      My fav is still the older one I needed to replace ....which really sucks they don't make it like that anymore

    • @chevyguy6961
      @chevyguy6961 ปีที่แล้ว

      @honestreviewswithnick I'm old school too Nick. The old Norelco's were built like tanks and were repairable. I have 3 of them that still shave well. 8140XL, 8240XL, 8865XL. I also have a 1260X Sensotouch 3D Shaver that I'm replacing the battery in after 15 years of use. 9000 Series heads fit the older 3D shaver and that's a major upgrade for my old shaver that keeps shaver replacement costs at a minimum. I say rebuild and reuse.

      Probably a safety issue of People electrocuting themselves somehow I'll try to use them because we need to put warning labels on coffee that it's too hot. Don't submerge yourself in water while you shave plugged in LOL

    • @jackoff1826
      @jackoff1826 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@honestreviewswithnick haha you're most probably right there. I guess what I'm saying though is, most people don't seem to even prefer to use the whole "wet" aspect of shaving (with shaving cream) with these types of shavers. I'd definitely give up wet shaving option for corded shaving option. If my battery goes dead during a shave, I want to just plug it in and keep going. If I live the shaver I have and over time the battery wears out and is no good anymore, I'd prefer the option to keep using it as a corded shaver.
      Taking away these for wet shaving, that so little do anyways, I don't get it. Dummy proofing the shaver is a dummy move to me haha

    You are shaving the wrong way! No wonder the razors your testing suck butt. You have to shave against the growth of the hair. Your shaving with the growth which basically just pushes the hair back down and not getting a clean cut. Shave against the hair pushes the hair up which allows for a cleaner cut.
