I come from the same part of Australia as Satts - the Hunter Valley and saw him play in the Newcastle team against the Great Britain touring side at No. 1 Sportsground in 1962. He was playing lock at that time. It was no surprise to see him go to Souths the following year.
A great tribute. Sending prayers and blessings to the Sattler family especially Scott who is a great man like his dad and John will be always alive whilst Scott is alive. RIP Satts your are a true gentleman and legend.🦋🙏💞🌅🐇
Part that admired my respect even more for leadership qualities of John Sattler was how he walked the Queen of England and introduced all players of the squad. In that moment he epitomised a true representative. He should’ve been knighted for demonstrating that reverence.
Scott has been incredibly gracious to give this much media attention so early. He really looks like he's hurting deeply inside, but wants more than anything to celebrate his Dad's life with the world. I can't remember the last time a player died and had this much respect and admiration pouring out for him. Satts really was the spirit of rugby league.
Scott Sattler speaks highly of his Father, because his Father stood for values, strength & ambition. A descent man and not only him but all his fellow colleagues were legendary. A North Sydney supporter, I was honoured to have been a Feeder club for those 10 years.
