For not watering Tulsi plant on a Sunday, it is said that Lord Vishnu and Lakshmi are resting on Tulsi plant and watering may disturb their peace. That is why we also avoid plucking Tulsi leaves on a Sunday.
For the first question, it is mentioned in the Shastras and Vedas to use right hand for any rituals like tilak, hawan, arti, and more.

Great information specially about the maintenance part... don't think that people know about this.
I have one question - someone gifted me a Ganesh murti made of Labradorite. I am not sure what does this stone help in? Can you tell me. Also, thank you for explaining the part of broken crystals, the ganesh murti has a broken part as it fell once. As you said broken crystal is ok but if I have a broken ganesh murti is that ok??
Related to labradorite stone... this is one of the best stone to seal your aura and work for neuro issues.
But if any idle is broken then don’t keep inside the house .

We don’t keep broken idles at home. The best way to dispose off them is to bury them in your planted pot or just immerse them in running water like river etc
