When you get that feeling watching a live performance of a train that is so furious it’s almost off the tracks but the fact that it stays together means you are sonically on the edge of your seat and beholden to a mammoth of a track. This is why Rock and Roll must Never die. Not everybody writes good shit (looking at you, every “rock song” I hear on my shift at the kroger mart) but when someone does it can take on a presence more awesome than any general or conqueror.
The White Stripes stole the show. This was the last great performance on the Grammy's. They we're never allowed to have such greatness on display again.
I get chills every time I watch this performance. Just knowing how crucial it was for them to pull off a killer appearance, given their career timeline, and absolutely nailing it. I doubt anyone thought they would reach the unlikely heights they did, or that it would all end in such a spectacularly undesirable fashion.
At 3:49 he briefly turns into Apollo, the god of music and the sun. His form was just too blinding for our eyes and he had to turn back into Jack White
Thanks for posting this video!! I like this version of Seven Nation Army/Death Letter. I like how you've clipped Becks intro into a palatable few words!
I had heard fell in love with a girl but didn't know who was the band, and then I saw them on either Conan or Letterman debuting seven Nation Army and I was instantly hooked , you sometimes see a band and I instantly bought Elephant and White blood cells at the same time, I was so happy to find out fell in love with a girl was on by the stripes. I played the living shit out of those 2 albums and purchased the 2 previous albums and followed them and then watched Jack live the dream and to make the actual vinyl discs what a hero
This video turned me into a musician 10 years ago ! Freaking transition
I was born in 1980. I saw this live on TV and it blew my FREAKING MIND, MAN!!!
still think about it sometimes!! Woohoo gotta luv TH-cam!!
I remember watching the Grammy’s for this performance in particular. It did not disappoint, I’ll never forget it.

I would do anyting to have a remasterd video of this performance. It's literally one of Jack and Megs best, and thats saying A LOT.
This is the greatest thing I’ve ever seen
I like how the screen turns white at 3:49 it's like the energy is blinding
Jack is one of the few artists that consistently sounds better live than recorded

Last great Grammy performance?
What about Green Day’s performance of American Idiot and Foo Fighter’s performance of The Pretender?
Unbelievable. I love this so much.

JAM SESSION!!! I could've done another hour of that!!! 🍻🤑
3:31 jack’s attempt at the speed of light

so they couldn’t see how easy his solo was lol

Meg was on fire!
The Stripes earned all our Respect.
Imagine telling Son House that his song would be getting played in front of the whole world one day.
Ladies and Gentlemen. Jack White. You'll be hearing that guitar a lot from now on.
God, this F***ing Rox!
Quentin Tarantino approves
Jack Fuckin White KILLS it!!!!

Dear lord I feel sorry for who had to follow that!!
Kanye West. Rest of music history explained.
It would be reminiscent to the headline acts who had to follow KISS, when they were an opening act, back in the early-mid seventies.
He absolutely KILLS it here. Unbelievable performance
Fookin lovin it....
wow !!!!

The White Stripes did not form as ordinary bands do. They were sent.
This is really impressive I have a kay guitar the strings are like a mile off the fretboard 😂
❤💛💚
I think he was nervous here and sped up the tempo, both of the songs would have been better if he slowed them down
the tempo was clearly intentional. towards the middle of death letter, he looks at meg and gets her to match his pace.
