    Wonderful ! The invention of the Oud goes all the way back to phaeronic Egypt and spread through the middle east. It was first brought to europe by the Mohammedan conquest of Spain around 900 a.d. It is the mother of the european lute and spanish guitar. Unlike the guitar it has no frets like any western classical orchestra viol instrument from the violin to the double bass. note: i don't believe it was religion in and of itself that caused the two super powers, the European North and the Arab, etc south to go to war with each other over circa 1000 years. Leaders who seek power and riches twist religion to be a force for war. In the last 100 years it has been the US and west who have been the primary aggressors in the world Whatever creed we follow, or what ethnicity we are, more important is we are all brothers and sisters of the one and only human race. So lets not let our leaders get in between our love for one another. We, especially we Americans just must say no to war and wars for oil.

      We should avoid war if we can, but if we do nothing in the face of obvious aggression, then we reward it. War is bad. Uncontested bullying is worse.

      In fact, music is universal...
      But as information, I have to mention that the origin of the #oud is iranian, and the real name is #Barbat.
      During the Islamic invasion, when these Arabs saw it they called it oud ( wood in Arabic), as it is made of wood.
      All instruments with the prefix of #Tar like Guitar, Sehtar, etc..are from iranian language and culture.
      Even the word of #Music is iranian, which is composed of Mu and Zik= Muzik موسیقی.
      Mu= string
      Zik = sound of ...
      No offence, we all earth's children.

    An absolutely beautiful instrument that was the forerunner to the flamenco guitar. It evokes the culture of Arabic influences which enriched Spain and beyond. It's a shame that Islamophobia has enveloped the West to such an extent that we forget that the Islamic culture has so much wealth. Let every Muslim know that music can be our saviour.

    There's a nuance in this that you can't get with strict 7 note scales in western music. It sounds like this blends the feelings that come from major and minor keys together in a more unified way. My ears still identify with both, but this is calming in a way that western music seems to miss out on when locked into such rigid rules. But then the harmony between several instruments in western music achieves a different, unique characteristic that this misses out on. I like to think that these same concepts apply to out culture too. Diversity is *key,* to both music and culture.

    I just have to say, even as a Texan, I can remember the crickets and small critters that kept me fascinated when I was a kid out in the middle of nowhere and a small community of only 100 of us Hispanics who could only speak English. We forgot our language because we didn't care and we forget the simple chirps of birds because we grow annoyed, yet even at 24:53 the eloquent way Naseer recreates this almost ties me to my ancient Andalusian roots. I wish well on all who want peace and sing of God's little creations to help us remember.

      Humanity has more than 6 millions years, but religion imagined by #those Gurus around 2000 years who created wars, discrimination, racism, etc.
      Do we need a religion to respect and understand each other?, no...
      Believe in someone or something means look for light in darkness.
      If #GodS really excited, we would have a mini sign, why they don't show themselves?!

    It is about love. I am glad that poeple from all over the world could understand these notes. Even if one cannot understand Arabic, it could give sens to a piece of music. Nevertheless some knowledge of Arabic poetry would be of great help in this context. Love here is just spiritual and is of 14 phases and has 14 names. I do not know if one can detect 14 moments in this piece of music. Anyway music is still a universal language.

    وكل السطوعِ أنتِ
    يا نجم الجدي

    وتنزعُ من روحي الألمْ
    حتّى يبتسم لي

    We need to understand that being at the top of the pyramid of creation means that everything we do trickles down the structure, from top to bottom. When it reaches the bottom, the inanimate level of reality, from which everything grows, it changes it. If we ooze ill-will, it creates negative changes throughout the system, which manifest in increasingly extreme climatic and geological events.
    In other words, when human relationships go out of balance, everything goes out of balance. When our relations become extreme, everything becomes extreme; when we become violent, everything becomes violent. Each summer, the ramifications of the linkage between our relations and our world become more extreme, until we acknowledge that everything that exists, exists in a connected, hierarchical system and that whoever is at the top determines the state of the rest of the system.
    It is not as if previously, we were better people than we are today. It is simply that there were fewer people, and therefore fewer elements that exude ill will.
    Also, relationships between people in the past were less toxic than they are today. While there are fewer wars today than ever, the levels of suspicion and alienation between people are skyrocketing, to the point where people can no longer trust their own family members. As a result, wars between countries are rarer than ever, but divorce rates, domestic violence, and violence in the community, are at an all-time high.
    Even the internet, which we invented purportedly in order to connect people, is being used to abuse, deceive, and exploit people. The world-wide-web proves that everything we create, we use against others. When there is such a negative element in a system, and that element is at the top of the system, how can the entire system not go awry?
    Therefore, if we want the weather to cool, the sea-level to drop, and the storms to subside, we must cool the fire and calm the storms between us. Mutual concern, mutual responsibility, or at least the knowledge that we are dependent on each other, are necessary in order to restore balance in our world at all levels, from the ground we walk on to the hatred in our hearts.
