Dialects can become so distinct that they turn into completely different languages. That's what I see happening to languages like Spanish Portuguese and French. BTW it's important to be fluent in the official language of the country you live in. There's nothing wrong with knowing more than one language. A child can learn the tongue of their ancestors and the language of the land they reside in.

Learning multiple languages would be a great way to combat the issue and ensure native languages continue to be passed down.

Your videos are amazing - full of research, insights, and potential solutions. It must take you ages to make them.
I can't understand why this doesn't have more views ...

Thank you! Ya, this one took a while to get all the research and synthesis together 😅 I like to think that the effort will be seen one day if I just focus on the l thing I can control: making these better and better. Fingers crossed! 🤞🏽

I am Mexican and one of my life purposes is to learn and save the native languages of my country and other countries in the world.

      Thank you very much.
In case you are curious, you would say, "Your writing *has* no mistakes."
That's because the word, "writing," is third-person (i.e. not you (2nd person) and not me (1st person)).
To have is one of the irregular verbs in English, meaning that the third-person conjugation is irregular from the rest.

💬 What do you think we lose when a language goes extinct? To see how AI can help us learn languages now, check out this video: th-cam.com/video/3mNNj_noocA/w-d-xo.html
    Some corrections:
    - someone pointed out that some of the photos and clips featured during the sections on Yagan are featuring the Selknams, a neighbouring tribe of the Yagans, and some of the clips feature their ceremonial clothes from a ritual called hain for innitiating. Thanks @wiinguru1475!

this is the first time i see a forgeiner talking about our cultures in chile. sadly the reason is quite unfortunate. i also want to point out that some of the pictures you used are not yagan, they are selknams, a neighbouring tribe that was sadly massacred by farming corporations to take their land, and those are their ceremonial clothes from a ritual called hain for innitiating childrens into adulthood. im actually learning both these languages yagan and selknam. but my level is quite low still so i couldnt call myself a speaker of these languages yet.
and i just want to add that i have tested talking in native american languages with different AI, and they dont seem to be nowhere near to be able to speak these languages correctly, they make so many mistakes, and i mean over 99% of it is gibberish, that if anything, they are right now spreading dangerous misinformation that will only erode these languages further.

WOW! I never expected to run into someone who knows about Yagan, let alone someone who’s learning the language. That’s incredible!
And thank you for sharing about the selknams-it’s been tricky looking for clips to represent native groups since many of the clips are mislabeled, but I’ll pin a comment with this correction so that viewers know.
That’s the sad reality of AI. The less data we have, the worse it performs and the greater risk it poses for spreading misinformation. I hope that we get better at working with less data to improve this in the future.
Great bumping into you, and congrats on all that you’re doing to preserve Yagan and Selknam 🙏🏽

no please, it is me who is glad seeing these cultures from our lands finally seeing some recognition in places so far away in a humane manner.( in the past our native inhabitants were kidnapped by europeans and exhibitionned in dehumanizing-human-zoos in europe so this gesture to me is a significant sign of a step forward. )
and i watch your channel from some months ago and it has been great learning advice that i use as an aid in my language learning goals- but what i do is not really anything different from you learning spanish, and i hope that some day our people will realize this and start learning our endangered native american languages before its too late, and i think what you do spreading this information is more important than anything ive done so far so i want to thank you for your hard work and specially in this video, so keep going and why not perhaps you can attempt to learn some basic words in some of our native languages(maybe in mapuzungun since it has more material so its a bit easier and ive seen you traveled to puelmapu(argentina),). (and also i apologize but i tried to correct me terrible english spelling in my earlier comment which i think undid whatever pinning you did earlier, my bad.)
anyways good luck and pewkayael(see you later)

Very well done!! AI is going to be great but only if it is governed very strictly because it can obtain the power to take over humanity and the existence of all people and all languages. AI, if not governed properly will someday make its own language and everyone living and breathing will have to learn that AI language. God could intervene before that happens and that is more likely in my humble opinion ❤
