Got great dental work done. sinus lift, bone grafts, 2 extractions... 1800 bucks....I go back in 6 months for 4 implants, $3600 bucks for all 4 plus 450 per zirconia crown.... So, Explain again why Mexico has bad dentists?, because from my personal experience, Mexican dentists have been doing great dental work for MILLIONS of Americans and Canadians for decades...........BTW US dentists have no enforcement authority governing them, a bad dentist can just pick up and move to another state with no consequences.... Also, My Mexican dentist has done tens of thousands of implants and is a Master at his craft, and buys only the very best implants..( straumann implants )... How many implants has this guy done?

Research Mexico, especially Los Algodones. Due to a car crash in childhood I have had a lifetime of experience with dentists. Frankly, mostly I have been greatly disappointed and at great cost. After doing a lot of research I have picked the SANI Dental Group in Los Algodones. I was very impressed with the professionalism, the staff, the modern tech and the ability to give one price for a complex restoration. That includes the hotel. My impression of what Dr. Shaw is saying is an excellent example of the disconnect between dentists in the USA and their patients inability to afford good care.

Dental care should be included in healthcare coverage for individuals who regularly visit dentists to maintain their oral health. This practice was successfully implemented in Germany, where insurance plans covered a significant portion, ranging from 70% to 90%, of the costs for annual or semi-annual dental visits. Conversely, if individuals neglect regular check-ups, insurance costs would increase, resulting in reduced coverage. Given the crucial role of dentist visits in overall health, it is imperative that dental care be covered for anyone who seeks to prioritize their oral well-being. Failing to provide coverage for dental care may lead to exorbitant expenses, prompting individuals to seek treatment elsewhere. By extending coverage to dental care, we can ensure the happiness of citizens who no longer need to travel abroad for affordable treatment. I will go to Mexico too, because I can't afford my dentist in Canada!

I just finished dentistry in Mexico, If you guys want to know if a Dentist here is reliable, look around the office/consulting room at the first meeting (asking for prices without any appointment), It's a must to have your Degree Title easily noticeable for the Patients that we don't get until we have passed a National exam approved by Dental Federation (which is a License in US I believe), on top of that, another sheet noticeable specific for every Post Degree for these specific treatments: Orthodontics, Implants/Prosthetics, Endodontics. If non of these are noticeable (degree and post-degree), and the Dentist is doing Dental general work or Post Degree work, he could be sued.

Bottom line, dental work in Mexico is very affordable and Dr. Shaw is highlighting issues experienced by a small number of people. He does not mention the tens of thousands if not hundreds of thousands of satisfied customers from all over the world, me being one. The level of care that I experienced personally was exemplary and comparable to my dentist here in the US. My stateside dentist wanted $5,500 dollars (out of pocket) for a 3 unit bridge after my insurance. He adamantly refused to lower the price, that said, I couldn't get out of that office soon enough and booked my trip to Los Algodones and I've never been happier...
In Mexico I had a root canal through the existing crown to correct what my dentist did here in the US as he put a crown over an exposed nerve which was painful from day one (after the novocaine wore off) and eventually became infected. He recommended surgical extraction and the very expensive 3 unit bridge. In Mexico they recommended a root canal through the existing crown (endodontist) which corrected my local dentist's work but retained the existing crown and I couldn't be happier, I'm now and have been pain and abscess free for over 3 years.
My local dentist wouldn't consider the root canal and recommended surgical extraction and the outrageously expensive bridge. My recommendation would be to get a second opinion whenever you have doubts about the treatment plan. Sometimes you just know that things are not quite right so, get a second opinion. I gotta say the next appointment with my dentist here was a little awkward as I cancelled the oral surgery and also skipped my next cleaning. After one year I went back and told him I had a second opinion that differed from his recommendation and voilà I still have my god given tooth with no complications.
What struck me is that the Mexican dentist told me they try to make every attempt to save an existing tooth as the replacements at any cost are usually not as good as the original...
Lastly, according to the United Nations statistics the US is not even included in the top 15 countries for dental care. This list takes into consideration affordability and access to care. Almost all 15 on the list are European countries. Unfortunately, Mexico is not on the list, probably because many Mexicans are poor and cannot afford dental care. Who knows, all I know is that I'm happy with the dental care I received in Mexico and I gotta say I was relieved and elated when all was said and done as I was completely pain & infection free and best of all, no exorbitantly priced bridge to contend with.

Sani Dental in Cancun is where I went. Total treatment cost $1200 - 4 unit bridge, two fillings. Another $1200 hotel and airline. The most professional, kind people. A great week in Cancun.
The “treatment plan” my mediocre American dentist gave me was $8,000.
I came to the US 40 yrs ago - and made a good and comfortable living here - but I EARNED every penny - and I spend that money wisely.
    - The money I saved I gifted to my very deserving niece whom I adore.

To those commenting that the dentist is at fault here for being too expensive... becoming any type healthcare practitioner is an incredible sacrifice, so I would hope that it pays well. It takes years of difficult education beyond a bachelor's degree, accompanied by incredibly expensive education, and dentists render a necessary and highly specialized service to the public. I'm all for a good deal, but healthcare isn't about cutting corners.

I am not a dentist and do not have a dog in the fight so to speak. I have a good relationship with My dentist and being a construction contractor Myself realize the difficulties that can be encountered with clients, Insurance Companies , attorneys , lawsuits etc. This guy makes a lot of Good points . My Wife winced a little while getting dentures fitted and the guy threw up His hands saying “ I can’t be Your dentist” . After arranging for all the expense to be paid up front , quite a bit of money, We feel abandoned. My Wife is of White Northern European Ancestry and is now afraid of American Dentists. She wants to go to Mexico not thinking about the extra costs , loss of income while going snd staying there etc. plus the crooked kidnapping cops and gangs. American Dentist are more expensive than Mexican ones and the same is true in contracting. Do You want to go to a Mexican court for legal recourse. Can You afford that kind of commute and stay.

Mexicos Dentist are internationally renowned for providing the best dental care for all patients regardless of income, the government subsidizes dental school education, does not require malpractice insurance for dentist and does not have all these BS America regulatory agencies that do nothing for patient quality care, just fund the pockets of the insurance companies.

I think it is generally better to get work done in the US. There are quality dentists in Latin America. You might be better off going to Costa Rica than Mexico. Many just can't afford the care in the US. They can't afford a bridge in the US. They can't afford an implant (s). Absent care and that is what it is. Unaffordable care is absent care.

This dentist is a croc, same as all the others in the US. America leads the world in medical malpractice and dentistry isn't far behind. Mexico has a dental board just like America. You can easily view the validity of a dentist's license and see if they've had any actions taken again them. In fact, many practitioners are double board certified in Mexico and the US. The dental Healthcare system in the US is a failure. Nothing more than a business wherein they charge expensive rates for subpar, outdated care

This guy is just trying to scare people who need dental work by dissuading them from going to Mexico - Dentists in the US are way too expensive & Mexico provides excellent dental services for a fraction of the cost . Like anything , there are good & bad operators - investigate, do your research & you will save a fortune.
