Thanks for this instruction, it was helpful, I managed to fix the problem on my mower without having to spend money by bringing it in to fix. It was a simple fix. 🤙🏽
My pressure washer pull cord mechanism looks almost exactly like that one you removed from the lawnmower. The thing is new though and the pawls were not coming out to engage. A little lube and jiggling of the silver housing the pawls were in made it work every time now. I think the thing was just sticking because it was new or something and not loosened up.
What? This doesnt make sense to me. I have this same issue, i have no idea why yours tightens but no matter how much torque i use snd my torque drill ot still stays loose.
The problem I've had with the starters for my cubcadet is that the pawls get bent. I've replaced three starters because of that. I wish I could just buy new pawls.

Do you know where I can get the recoil pull start from that exact lawn mower that u have
This is happening with my craftsman weedeatter today. Not sure if I need a part which would be impossible to get. Thank you.
You probably just need what they call 'pawls'. If you have a local small engine shop they should have them
@@fixinstuff4374 thank you. I was trying to start it and it just quit gripping. Spring is good.
@@fixinstuff4374 it's an old craftsmen,
Do you oil it to keep it from sticking?
@@hadleymanmusic you can use wd40 to keep it running smooth if you like.
Thanks will get to mine tomorrow after work !
Yeah my string pulls and spins the wheel but not engaging with the motor so might need to try this out
Also check to see if the pawls are coming out/engaging when you pull the cord. If they're not, that most likely is the problem.
Great simple video. Thanks!
