    The music was a bit loud, but you did a terrific job on this video.

    Nice concise tutorial! ....and with your pace and voice the music worked! I only mention that because other comments were drifting the other way.

    Oh myyyyy, I just tried this right now, it's amazing, my miniature shows so much detail now and it is so easy to set up. 😍 Love it, thanks for the tutorial.

    That was very structured and clear, thank you. I was hoping to use the enfuse script that ML creates, but your way works too, for those that have the software, it's simple enough. The video would have been better without background music.

    When you are at f22, or around that range, you are going to lose a lot of sharpness. Usually a lens is sharpest around f8 or so. At that aperture (f8), only part of the subject will be in focus at that close of a distance. So in that case, this would be very useful. When the time comes that you have that feature, try it both ways, you will be surprised at the difference.

    Hmm, thanks! I think I finally have it with my 550D. Going to try this with some spring flowers with an upside down tripod this weekend, should get some good stuff. Not sure if I'll find a bug that will stay still long enough to get this down, we'll see.

    it turns the complete process of focus stacking into simply pushing a few buttons. Excellent but I am trying to learn the focus stacking techniques needed to create the finished product. as a last resort I would take this route and learn Nothing. Great Software You Have There.

    Very informative. Wonder if it works with silent picture. This guy pronounces his 'o's strange though. Exposure and mode sound odd.

    Many thanks for taking the time to explain this awesome feature of ML. May I ask if this particular function enables Mirror lock up whilst it runs the stack or do I need to set that prior? You have to hand it to the magic Lantern team. It is an amazing add on to an already awesome camera. 7d with magiclantern-Nightly.2015Nov15.7D203

    hello.. great video.. thx.. how can i find out the best focus step setting for my lense? and is it possible to find out how much is one step focus in mm? thanks for helping

    • @tpaine666
      @tpaine666 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Best way to find the settings for any lens is to try it. Each lens is slightly different. As for the step size in mm, again, best way is to get a focus target (plenty on the net) and take some pictures with one step and see how the focus distance changes. Be aware, this might not be completely linear.

    I have a 650D so I don't have all the features yet, but I wonder why do this instead of just one picture at f22 or f36?

    • @tpaine666
      @tpaine666 8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      At those high f numbers, you start to get diffraction distortion. Most lenses are sharpest a few stops from the maximum or minimum. However, at those f-stops, the depth of field is very small. It is much worse if you are doing macro and want to focus on a flower and you can only get a depth of field at about .5 mm. Focus stacking is the only way to get the entire flower in focus at those magnifications.
      Hope this helps.
