@@anagonyaowusu3119 we actually have the potential to be the best transit oriented country in the world. We have the infrastructure with our freight rail, which touches every state and major city in the country, however most of it is privately owned by rail companies. If we can do what other countries have done and force these companies to share their rail lines for public mass transit then this could be done relatively quickly. Instead we have state and cities building entirely new rail lines because they can’t use the infrastructure there already there.
Seems like a dumb idea not to make the airport station factored into the first phase of construction. At least then with the amount of tourists utilizing it as a way to get to their hotels and Airbnbs Honolulu can actually get a faster return on its investment
H4 was meant to be built right through Downtown Honolulu, a major trend with cities back then. However, it was realized that major highways and interstates are nuisances in cities. In Seattle, the I-99 went right in front of downtown and obscured the skyline, so they tore it down and moved it underground.
Goodness just give it up already.. that st been like that for how many yrs.. and I’m no longer in Hawaii but get ready to pay up Hawaii residence.. cause you they gonna ask for more money 🤦🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️
They should’ve save all that money and widen all the roads and make more on and off ramps… but they build a rail the ends in the middle of no where, it doesn’t even go to the new mall in Kapolei…
I voted for this boondoggle, bad management/planning & lack of accountability & communication. So sad. I hope I’m wrong, but we should have hired Consultants from Korea, Japan, Europe & China before we dug a hole.
The timeline to finish this is a total embarrassment. I live in Japan and this is unacceptable.
15 yrs to complete 😂
Stupid plan. Just finish the stations & start running it already so we can all use what is already built.
Exactly
ETA: summer of 4🤣22
Japan meanwhile builds 200 mph Shinkansen distance from Kauai or Big Island in 4 yrs
Yeah, Americans aren’t really well known for our world-class public transit, I mean, we built our entire country and it’s cities around the car
In mostly empty fields in a country where they don’t have to ship resources minimum of 4000 miles, with a population 1-150th the size.

But where would they build them? And how would they get anywhere?
Should be done in twenty more years.

They can't they would have to pay back all those billions
They should’ve save all that money and widen all the roads and make more on and off ramps… but they build a rail the ends in the middle of no where, it doesn’t even go to the new mall in Kapolei…
And how would all of that benefit people that don't have cars?
Not everyone get car dummy
