Deshaun Watson's latest quote makes us think the Cleveland Browns QB got his confidence back

- While QB Deshaun Watson throw some during OTAs to receivers during the offensive drills, he only took mental reps during the 7-on-7 and 11-on-11 drills.
That changed during the first day of minicamp, as Watson took live reps during the 7-on-7 drills. Watson threw completions to both WR Cedric Tillman and TE David Njoku during the that portion of practice. Watson also participated in the live reps of the red zone work.
"Everything's been going pretty smooth," Watson said. "Taking it one day at a time, not trying to get ahead of myself. I think I'm in the right position and I feel very, very comfortable."
Stefanski said he expects Watson to throw again on Thursday - the final day of minicamp - and for him to take Wednesday's practice off from live reps.
"The natural next step is throwing out there against the defense in 7-on-7, then you'll graduate to the team, and we can do team drills and those type of things," Stefanski said. "I thought he looked good, made good decisions. Again, you get mental reps when you're back there and then it's a little bit different when you're taking the snap from the center or in the shotgun or under center regardless. 14 months ago DW was vocal in a productive way about the offense not fitting his style of play. This year he seems to be more comfortable that they’ll be running more of what he did in HOU. Everyone including him knows he was off a bit last year (bengals, steelers, early ravens) and the prior year. To be fair to him, the wr room drops off a lot after amari. Flacco lit it up w no “rust” - DW probably not rusty but not comfortable style wise and seemed to be in his head.

Bull is the only one that is right on this panel. Deshaun has been dog water since becoming a brown. NBC ranked him the 24th best qb of 2024, PFF ranked him 23rd. As more lists come out he will continue to be ranked so low due to his bad play. Dont be a homer. If everyone around football is telling you he is bad, he must be pretty bad.

@@mahlonrhodes burrow 51.6, much better than deshaun who only had a 42.9. Did you really think he was going to be worse than watson? Watson ranked 25th in qbr last year i believe, 38th over the last 2 years for sure.
@@WSAMP24 Never said anything about it being better...I personally think its a weak statistical metric...but Burrow is generally considered a top 5 QB in terms of contract and ability...His QBR doesn't look that great to me...I saw Watson beat him last year, that's the best stat there is🤷♂

Watson has been a topic for one reason. He is costing the Browns 1/4 of a Billion dollars. Expectations are HIGH. Deshawn must be a top 5 QB all season to improve his popularity.

Win and losses are a team stat. Not a single players individual stat. Example.. the last year watson had a good statistical year was 2020, all his individual stats were at the top of the league qbr, passer rating, yards, tds. But his record was 4-12... was that his fault, I say no. But by ur logic you say yes?

Deshaun's reputation is toast. It's not coming back. Now his on the field performance could return to the 2020 Deshaun. That is possible. And he is already making a TON of money. If he returns to 2020 performance, he'll get an extension, in the $300 million range.

There is a very fine line between confident and delusional. Nobody besides Browns fans and the local media believes that Deshaun Watson is "pretty damn good". Everybody talks about Deshaun Watson because he is PAID like he is the best QB in football, while he has performed like one of the WORST QBs in football. And everyone is talking about it because they are wondering when the Browns are finally going to realize what they and everyone else already knows: Deshaun Watson is no longer a starting caliber QB and this trade is, without question, the worst trade in the history of organized sports.
To say he isn’t a starting caliber qb is just ridiculous 😭 I can understand someone not liking the guy but some of the plays he was making including going 14/14 against the best defense on a broken shoulder still shows he’s got it. People don’t understand how much confidence plays a part in sports.
