Farmers play a crucial role in keeping this country on track, and they deserve recognition and support for the work they do. Regardless of their financial standing, we should be rewarding farmers for their contributions towards making the UK more self-sufficient and ensuring a steady supply of locally-grown food. Farming is physically demanding and requires immense dedication, regardless of weather or season. Most of us would find it hard to do what they do every day, and many would agree that a farmer’s wealth shouldn't matter - it’s about supporting the people who provide for us. Additionally, for those who acquire farmland with no intention of using it for agriculture, the government could introduce policies to ensure land remains for farming and doesn't become a vehicle for tax avoidance. We need solutions that keep farmers motivated and committed, ensuring the high-quality British products we value are available in stores. Let’s support our farmers so that protests and disruptions don’t become a necessity - it's in everyone's best interest to see them thrive..... the exception is the Labour Party!

i'm afraid you're wrong. £325k is the personal allowance and is not treated for inheritance tax. any sum above this is then 40%. so if it was the above amount then zero would have been taxed. if it was £500k then the tax payable would be approx £80k (couldn't be bothered to do the calculation).

That fact of that matter is all the tax reliefs in this country mean the low income average Jo pays a high effective tax rate then the rich in this country who defer to other forms of income such as dividends, capital gains etc etc
This is also the reason why clarkson was boasting a few years ago about how he bought farm land to avoid inheritance tax
Let’s be honest - the inheritance tax change means a millionaire farmer will only pay 20% tax on his estate over 1.5million (so there’s an exemption 1.5million)
Average Jo will pay 40% tax on an estate over 500k!!!
Where is the fairness - let’s tax the rich and wealth as we do salary income in this country
@@itaz6276 I agree. What I can't get my head around is why some people are saying its £3M tax free before IT and others, like yourself are saying its £1.5M.
