Dang! She fired right up. If they are tuned right, the old cars will start up better than the new ones

Great car. I owned a 1970 Electra. I really liked it. They just don't make them like that anymore. To me the new cars are junk.

In 1978 I got my grandfather's 1970 Electra when I turned 16. It was one of the best cars I have owned. After driving the car a few days and seeing the "Fasten Seat Belts" printed above the steering column I decided to try out those old school seat belts mainly out of curiosity, aside from the obvious safety factor of buckling up. I fastened the lap belt and thought what the heck and took the shoulder belt down from the headliner and buckled it up. After driving around an hour or so I was really amazed at how much better the car seemed to drive, ride and handle while strapped in. I thought I was cool and "mature looking" riding around with the lap and shoulder belts buckled and a Winston 100s in my hand as I had seen my father do when I was younger. For some odd reason back then, my father was the only one in our family that wore the lap and shoulder belts in his 1968 Olds 98. My friends thought I was crazy for wearing those old style "safety belts" and my parents were horrified about the smoking but thrilled that I at least was wearing the seat belts. Both were soon to become lifelong habits. Coming home from college one weekend I was only about three miles from home when a drunk driver in a Chevy suburban crossed the center line and hit me head on. The size of the Electra and wearing both the lap and shoulder belts saved me that night and let me walk away with only bruises from the belts and a few scrapes. Even with all of the safety advances cars have today, I think in a head on collision, I would fare better in that 70 Electra with my lap and shoulder belts securely fastened. At least I would have a cigarette lighter and a big ashtray.

I don't think the 'V8' emblem is original. Luxury cars don't need to boast about their engines.

@@shubynator1296 Oh, Now I see you're in Europe! Maybe the emblem was put on models sold in Europe, or by the local dealer there?

@@boggy7665 this car is from seattle and imported in belgium. I think it's an original emblem but i'm not a specialist.
